View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed teamviewer and immediately skype went offline. Upon logging in to skype I get the following error:
"skype p2p connect failed"
So I rebooted pc, router, performed the command: "rm -rf ~/.Skype" to no avail. Next I removed teamviewer and tried everything again & still the message persists. Skype was set to not use port 80 already, but if it won't log on then I can't get to full the options menu.
I have Fedora12 and it was working fine all through. I Installed Skype yesterday and since it was working, I installed the following using instructions from a blog. These were to install
yum install libXv.i686*
yum install libXScrnSaver.i686*
yum install qt.i686
yum install qt-x11*.i686
yum install libsigc++ libsigc++.i686 qt.i686 qt
Skype started to work well. However, after I rebooted the system, all I get is a blank screen with a blinking cursor. I am able ot get to tty by doing ctrl+alt+f2 but am not sure how to proceed from the above. I also erased the above packages thinking that that might solve. But it hasnot solved the issue.
hJust installed brand new Centos 5.6 and skype, according to centos wiki (http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Skype) Getting these errors: skype: /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.9' not found (required by skype)

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a IOgear USB bluetooth adapter and a Sony DRBT101/BLK bluetooth headphones to use with my computer.Whenever I try to make a call using these headphones with skype, I can speak for say 10 seconds and then the headset disconnects completely from the system. I then have to reconnect the headset by switching it off and on. I do not have this problem listening to music using A2DP. It works fine with my mobile phone. When I change the profile to Telephony Duplex (HSP/HFP), it shows up as hands free, I thought it should be headset in blueman manager. My friend uses Plantronics headset with is Dell laptop with built in bluetooth and he says his comes up as headset not hands free. Could this be causing the problem?

I cant seem to text via skype, it doesnt go through. I testet the skype test call service and voice works fine, audio and mic. I have tried to google and search forums but no luck. View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got Karmic installed on a MacBook, and I'm trying to get Skype up and running. I've already patched the iSight firmware, so the the webcam itself works fine, but I have no microphone support. If I go to Sound Recorder, the microphone picks up my voice fine, but not Skype. In the Skype audio settings, all are set to Pulseaudio server (local), and that is the only selection available.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThere are a number of USB devices that can make Skype work with an existing home phone network, but most I've seen require Windows to work. I already have an always on headless Linux server running Ubuntu Server 9.04 (no GUI installed), so does anyone know of software and hardware that'll work with my setup to enable one of the analog lines in my home to work with Skype?
Also it seems most of the USB to Phone adapters are being discontinued and Skype doesn't even list any on their site. Do you guys know if they're phasing these devices out?

I'm trying to get my server back up to snuff. I'm using Debian Squeeze right now and I'm up and atom with apache, mysql, php, pureftpd, ssh, and I have squirrelmail installed.
My dilemma comes with the mail part of the whole ordeal, Postfix and Courier are installed, have their keys made, and for what I assume, are configured correctly. HOW do I make new virtual users? My domain points to this machine as well as my MX record for mail.mydomain.com.
I need IMAP and POP working. And upon the creation of new email users, will SquirrelMail interface with Postfix and Courier? When I installed SM I set it up for use with Courier.
I have downloaded & installed the skype beta release for linux (now ancient?) on my newly build fedora 14 (64) box.
Under fedora 12, I made this work after several hours of mucking around by installing old libraries for 32 bit code in /lib and /usr/lib - as I got an error, I found the library and put it in place. This was painful and the WRONG way to do things - I should have been using yum!
It remains a shame that the Skype release for Linux is so old, but that is life.
Can anyone list the libraries needed (prefer yum names if possible) to make this work?
I can do this again the hard way and list the results for others (should have saved for myself, but I never dreamed that a newer Skype release would take so long) , but I am sure many folks have this working already. I am surprised there is no "yum install skype---" command.
I have developed a small website using jspx pages. Now i want to host the website to a server which is a linux machine. The linux machine which i m referring to is already hosting some web pages(jspx) through a web server Which is running at port 8888.My first question would be "How would i check which web server is installed in the server?"Due to my little knowledge about linux machine .I have copied some simple html pages to /var/ www/ html location. The pages are getting accessed correctly on port number 80.But how would i go about hosting jspx pages.
View 13 Replies View RelatedWondering if most people have GNOME or KDE installed on their server, and how much memory do these guys consumed.
I have been running a VPS website with only 256MB of RAM fine, though memory does appear to be a bottleneck at times. So got a new server with 1GB RAM but I'm surprised to see after installing CentOS 64-bit with GNOME the memory consumption varies between 600MB-1GB.
The only difference is I've never had used any GUI desktop on the VPS (don't think the hosting company offers one). Wondering if the memory consumption came entirely from the GNOME desktop I installed.
Would most people install with GNOME, configure all the stuff required, and then remove it?
I have a situation where I want to install various versions of RHEL on removable drive. My first option was a flash drive or an external USB hard disk, but its speed is too slow. Now I have been assigned a task to search for more options about this requirement. If anybody has experience in installing the same, then please share with me.
