Ubuntu :: Connecting Microsoft Access To MySQL On Server?
Mar 23, 2011I've been using ubuntu for quite a few years, and know the basics of databases. However, how to get them to talk to each other... Not so much.
I need to be able to connect to a MySQL database using Microsoft Access 20074. The database is going to be running on my server, which runs ubuntu server 10.10.
So far, I have installed MySQL server and libmyodbc. I took the deetails for the odbc.ini file from the ODBC ubuntu community page, so this is the current setup (database name is business):

When I try to connect using Access, I get "Server does not exist or access denied."
CentOS 5 Server :: MySQL Shell Access Denied / Get It To Work?
Feb 20, 2011I'm having a hard time to access MySQL from the local or remote shell.
If I try to access MySQL, using mysql -u root -pxxxx I get the error 1045 Access denied...
MySQL is running and I can access it, using phpmyadmin.
There must be something blocking shell access. Can anybody confirm and tell me how to check/configure for shell access?
I'm using ca preconfigured CenOS from PBX in a flash and it seems they did some security settings - but I can't find any further information.
I know I should probably post there, but the Mods didn't activate my account yet. And you know how it is if you try to figure something out. You won't stop.
Debian :: Can Not Access Any Microsoft Site ?
May 7, 2010I have Debian Lenny and I use Google Chrome for internet surfing. When I try to open a web page for any Microsoft site (microsoft dot com, msdn dot microsoft dot com, etc) it times out and never shows the page nor I get 404. All I get : "Waiting for www dot microsoft dot com" .
I have a Window XP VirtualBox machine within Debian with nic card as bridge and I can connect with no problems.
What could it be?. DNS look up addresses in Debian and Windows virtual are the same.

I've tried running the install but limiting the resolution, but from what I can rememeber server doesnt install the GUI to start with, so it should just be showing me the standard CLI.

CentOS 5 Server :: Using Winbind With Win2003 R2 AD And Microsoft Identity Management For UNIX For UID/GID Mappings?
Nov 10, 2009following situation and configuring authentication for Windows users on my CentOS clients please:IHAC WIN2003 R2 Domaincontroller with ALL my users and groups maintained there. For Usermapping (SID to UID/GID) I want to use IMU which is included with WIN2003 R2 srv and extends my Active Directory schema for UID, GID, NIS Domain etc. I want now authenticate my Windows users on my CentOS clients via their "domainnameusername" and passwords on the CentOS clients.
I also have a NAS server which has usermapping integrated and resolves the Windows SID's to the UID/GID's configured within the IMU schema extensions. Now I have no idea to setup my CentOS clients to use winbind, PAM and LDAP (IMU supports LDAP queries for UID/GID resolving) WITHOUT needing any Samaba Server or functionality.
* Do I need to configure the smb.conf file because my usermapping is done on the NAS Server and I want to resolve my Windows Users/Groups UID/GID's from IMU via LDAP?
* Do I (just) need to Join the AD (2003 native) or even using Kerberos with generating ktpass.exe keytab files (what is needed/recommended and what is the difference?) Can I authenticate the users without using Kerberos?
For e.g. my username is "domainuser_a" and within the IMU the UID is set to "12345", I don't want Samba/winbind to do usermapping again based on the configured values in the smb.conf file. Some hints would be really nice for me to understand how exactly it works and what is needed...
