I know I could use Inkscape or a 3D program to create word art, but the Word Art function in Microsoft Office is SO much more convenient.
Has anybody ever tried to create an open source alternative?
I like to view some tv-streams of missed programs and other stuff, but more and more Microsofts Silverlight is used. The alternative Moonlight does not work, well..., it probably will if I accept to install a Mircosoft Media Pack (!), and to do so, I have to accept a Microsoft EULA..[URL]..Excepting something from Microsoft... I am not in favour of doing that on my lovely Ubuntu-machine..

I have fetchmail wroking to bring in mail from our externally hosted website and delivering it to users mailboxes in exchange server. That was easy following guides on the internet. However my brain is failing me now. How do I reverse the process and send mail to the outside world. I need to be able to do this without authentication. At the moment i am using a windows environment with exchangepop3 which uses smarthost to connect to the ISP smtp server. Please help or point to a simple guide. If i cannot solve this soon i will have to revert to microsoft solution for the proxy server.

I have a Nagios box set up on the corporate LAN. I'm trying to get it to send emails to both internal Exchange addresses as well as doing a direct delivery to internet domains.
I have looked at a few logs and it appears that Postfix is not doing proper DNS lookups on the internal servers. It keeps trying to connect to the domain controllers. I have an MX record specified.
I have set up qmailtoaster as a gateway for exchange.
my smtproutes contain this:
thedomain.com:mail.exchange.com
and my rcpthosts contain:
thedomain
The problem I am facing now is, the exchange was able to send mails through me alright. But when mails come in, qmailtoaster is suppose to forward the mails to the exchange server but it is not, rather the mails are sitting in the toaster's queue.
I have a linux box on my DMZ with postfix on it. I have exchange on our internal LAN on 10.152.0.104.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm experiencing an occasional frustration using Evolution with my work email which is on an MS Exchange 2003 server.Everything usually works well enough, but from time to time I'll try to retrieve a message,Is there a setting I've missed in Evolution that might take care of this, or some other workaround?Let me re-emphasize that the server is a 2003 Exchange server (and a source of endless frustration for a non-windows user). It's not a 2007 or 2010 Exchange server, which is what most companies use these days.

I have ticket tracking software that mails ticket to groups. Right now the software is on an exchange server. After moving it to a dedicated linux server (debian lenny) I cant get it to email any of the internal domain addresses. I have tried to setup sendmail to relay it to the exchange server. Logs indicate that it was sent by the ticket tracking software but the message never hits the mailbox. It also wont get to any other mail address. Is there a better way to do this? The crm software will utilize either a smtp server or any mail server on the localhost. The problem is that with the dedicated server on the same network as the exchange server, it fails to send the mail even if I assign an external smtp server. But if the dedicated server is on a different network then it works using any smtp server in its configuration. I need something that can "pass the email" to the exchange server. Or just be able to send the mail to internal email account and still be on the same network.

We have a Windows 2K8 domain with Exchange 2010. I have setup a Ubuntu Server to be used as an internal wiki. Installed AMP on it and have MediaWiki running. Now I would like to setup SendmailToWiki extension. The only problem is that I do not know how do I make sendmail to work inside the LAN her with the Exchange server? This is the extension: [URL]
The e-mail address that is used in the extension is dynamic(changes for every user, since each user sets its own pinkode). And the script sets the domain part off the email to the last part off the IP of the ubuntuserver. For example: wikipost+2.12345@62.85. I cant send an email to half of an IP, can I? What I need to configure or not?
I am working happily with Fedora 8, evolution chatting happily to exchange 2003, calendar sync the works...impressed. This continued through Fedora 9 (though a little bumpy as all odd numbered Fedora releases are). On to Fedora 10, yes works a treat out of the box (DVD). A couple of updates to evolution later, through yumex (fedora updates), and evolution has stopped sending email to the exchange server. It's also touch and go whether I can read email using OWA.
On pressing 'Send/Receive' evolution pops the error,
Error while performing operation.
Exchange transport can only be used with Exchange mail source.
How could I back out these evolution updates?
Seems quite a lot out there are finding it simple enough getting Thunderbird/Davmail to work, yet I've been at it for days now and still no luck. I've finally given up altogether with Evolution last week, as it seems from weeks of reading and trying, there just isn't a solution for it to work with Exchange Server mail. Yes I tried brutus and its web sites are down so to get additions such as Brutus Keyring is impossible. (its all a long story for another day)Evolution is now uninstalled and in the bin.So now Im into the 5th day trying with Davmail and Thunderbird to get emails from my company mail exchange server.I am sure Im going to have better luck with Thunderbird from what Ive read so far, but it still eludes me how to set it up with Devmail and the information Ive found so far is not very clear. I am sure I am just missing the most simplest step somewhere along the line.
Can someone please post a detailed instruction on how to configure both Thunderbird and Devmail to work together and also how to test if Davmails is working?I can easily access my company emails via OWA with URl... from my home internet, so no issue there. From the efforts of trying to get Evol to work where it came up with the error. "Evolution connector is not compatible with Exchange 5.5", I assume our company server is running an MS exchange server version 2003 or older.
I want to create a shell script that generates a file and then sends it via email from my Ubuntu desktop by using my Exchange 2003 Server which is on a separate windows machine on my network. I do not have an smtp server set-up so that is one of the reasons I want to go this route. The other is because I will be able to sync the emails sent from the exchange server.
