Server :: Sendmail Mail Could Not Reach Certain Domains?

We have a application hosted in our server and it uses send mail for sending and receiving mails.mails can able to reach certain ids but it cant reach some ids. this is the log entry.
Two exchange servers internally. One is setup for example.com (192.168.1.10) and the other is setup for example2.com (192.168.1.20) Both are behind a single public IP.
I want to use postfix to sit in front of the two exchange servers. Postfix will accept mail for both domains and relay to the appropriate server. I have postfix installed with only defaults at this point.
I am going to try and replace our crappy Windows/imail server with a new ubuntu 10.04 LTS based machine. It will end up with about 400 domains on it with around 3000 users total. 96% of the domains have very light use. 4% of the domains have heavy use but do not send any bulk mail.
Can someone here recommend a mail server software package that would be easy to administrate and easy to backup/replicate? All we need is POP with webmail. We do not need IMAP or want any group/collaborative functions.
What do you usually use for anti-spam on a linux mail server? We want to keep it all open source if possible.
For hardware we are looking at an HP DL360 G5 with dual Xeons, 4G of ram, and the P400 controller with 6 SAS 15k drives. Do you think a server like this will be able to handle the mail on linux? Volume is around 400k messages a day inbound with about 10% being legit/90% being spam. The server will be dedicated to mail hosting and will not host websites.

This works perfectly as I want. But right now, what I want is, I want fetchmail to download mails for more than one or several accounts in different domains and different pop servers. How can I improve this rc file to accomplish my task?
I'm running a server with two sites which both need to be able to send emails. Currently I have Postfix set up to send email via Google Apps. This works fine, but Google's servers ignore the From: address I specify and substitute the one I logged in with. Is there a way to make Postfix log into Google Apps with a different username based on what site the email is coming from? The server does not recieve any mail itself; Google recieves it and we have it set to forward it to the appropriate person's real email address. I'm only worried about sending mail.
(Postfix is not a requirement here, so if there's another mailer that can do this better, I'm open to ideas. However, sending email directly from the server isn't an option as it's a residential IP address and blocked by most of the big email providers.)
Im moving all my websites on a dedicated box. I had a cpanel hosting account, and now moving to a terminal and ssh system.I need some advice on choosing my mail setup. I have recently setup an Ubuntu 10.04 Minimal x64 Server. I plan on setting it up as a mail server. I need a secure server, that has spam prevention on it. Im setting up around 50 domains and would like a web based control panel. What is the most secure mail server, that i can setup for multiple domains?
I would like to setup postfix to act as a relay for the outgoing mails of a couple of servers each serving it's own domain.The mails we are talking about are standard administrative emails like user registration, password reset request. The volume of those mails will naturally grow as the site grows. Which for me poses the problem that depending on the growth of the site you will sooner or later hit the quotas imposed by (my otherwise preferred) providers like GMail or smtp.com.
So what I need is a mail relay that will only accept mails from authenticated clients from hosts in its access list and relay their mail without restrictions. Is that possible with postfix? What has to be changed in the config and what are the pitfalls?
I'm in the process of starting a migration from an old postfix server to nice shiney new exim server however there are a few things i'm really not clear on and i'm hoping that some one here could point me in the correct direction. Okay the postfix server at the moment does the follwoing ( i'll try and keep this simple ):
* accepts incoming mail for users on multiple domains and puts the mail in the users mailbox ( external -> internal )
*accepts mail from users on multiple domains to pass on to the outside world ( internal -> external )
Obviously the POP and Imap functions are handled by other daemons.. I'd like to replicate this sort of setup on the new exim box, however the guides i can find only help with configuring the exim system for incoming mails ( external -> internal ) for multiple domains and i cant seem to find a guide that would indicate how to do both ( internal -> external and external -> internal ) on one box. I'm guessing i may have to do some sort of auth to get exim to accept and then handle the internal -> external side of things?
I am using postfix as spam Mailscanner to protect my mail server running sendmail. The problem is that when I forward an email from MailScanner mail me back with the following error:

After searching the forum I could not find a clear answer to my question so I am giving it a try...
I have installed a LAMP server with Postfix as mail server. The scripts send email as user www-data using the mail server on the same machine.
However, the email got rejected by external mail servers (failed reverse DNS check) so I setup a mail server that meets all needed requirements.
Now I would like to use this second server instead of the mail server on the LAMP server. I found that this could be done with changing sendmail settings in php.ini (I think).
However I am not sure how that will go: www-data is no actual user on the new email server (which requires authentication before sending). Do I need to create a new user on the email server or change the settings in php.ini to match an existing user?
I have users [URL] unable to send email to [URL]. [URL] user also unable to send email to [URL]. But both email addresses are fine as they can receive email from others or from [URL] and [URL]. I able to telnet mail server 110 and 25, no problem. Version: ESMTP Sendmail 8.12.10

We have moved from a Windows based SMTP server to Sendmail on Cent 5.5. We have a special application that was written to look at the "BadMail" folder on the Windows box. I am told by my developers that it is capable of monitor remote locations and they just need to know the format or extension of the badmail files.
My question is what is the default location of the badmail folder in Sendmail? This is a default install from CentOS.
So I'm having troubles setting up a mail server. First of all, anyone want to try to telnet into <snip> on port 25 and see if it's blocked? I don't think it is, but you never know. How long does it usually take for MX records to get around? I've had this set up for about a day now and still don't see any MX records on any lookup site I go to. I'm currently using slackware 12.2's default sendmail configuration. Should I change anything? I started sendmail on my laptop and got emails going within the LAN but I cannot send emails over WAN (i.e. to/from yahoo or google accounts).e?

i have fedora5 installed on my machine MACH1, which acts as a linux server for few machines. Its over network and we have a dedicated mail server too which is globally accessible. I wanted to set up a local mail server on MACH1, so that i shall be able to send/receive mails from all the users as well as to our other global mail server(on internet).
I have configured Sendmail client to send mail to outside network ( Within local domain ), but i am unable to send any mail as i am getting the following error,

I have the following configuration in my "/etc/sendmail.cf" file

And netstat is showing that sendmail is listening on Port 25 on the IP address which is mentioned.
It has been years since I had to mess with sendmail (I prefer using postfix) - but I inherited a server that someone else configured. This machine is a webserver - but is running sendmail for the various webforms, etc. I want to configure sendmail on this machine to route ALL outgoing messages to the main email server. I have sendmail setup with sasl and multiple domains.I'm sure there is an easy fix for this but I can send emails to anyuser@<anyofmyvirtualdomains.dom> and it will be accepted. I'm just trying to cut down on any confusion that may occur later. Is it possible "restrict" or classify a user into a particular domain? I've setup virtusertable and aliases but no luck in accomplishing my goal.I've searched to find no particular information on this.
I'm currently running Ubuntu 10.10 Server using VirtualBox 3.2.12 r68302. I've setup a LAMP Server and Installed Redmine and I'm going to be starting some projects. how mail server functionality works as well as how to properly set the host of the virtual pc.
I have configured a sendmail MTA for incoming mails in a network and by using IPtables i have redirected the traffic internally to other port where one more SMTP by a application is running.Iptables rule:
Sendmail isn't sending mail for some reason and keeping it in the Queue. I attemped to flush them but it deferres the connection to the server in which it is trying to relay the message to. I have checked to see if there is a DNS error or anything like that. I attemped to flush the messages through webmin.

I am not finding anything in the logs to let me know their is an error. I can ping the mail servers that it is trying to send to. Now it has started delaying when ping MX servers. So I knew something was starting to mess with it. I have checked the /etc/hosts. It is correct. The server isn't black listed. Mail to root just gives me.
