I used a self assigned certificate openssl req -new -outform PEM -out smtpd.cert -newkey rsa:2048 -nodes -keyout smtpd.key -keyform PEM -days 365 -x509 i followed configurations from th below website [URL].. On my outlook client p.c`s whenever connecting for the first it pops up a message telling mi tht my certificate on my server cannot be verified then it continues after click yes.
How do i do away with tht message other thn buying trusted certificate Or refer me to a good site with Ubuntu mail server configuration which makes uses of mysql
these are the lines in my /etc/dovecot/dovet.conf file

I have enforced to use the Linux /etc/passwd file to authenticate myself from Outlook, Postfix will accept mail from any IPs. However, I'm not able to send mails from my Outlook via my mail server to someone else on the Internet. Am seeing the following in Postfix's log.

I have a Server with Webmin, Usermin and Sendmail using pop3s. I have created a seft signed certificate using webmin. Exported it and imported it to the trusted root certification authorities on my client. This fixes the warning message from internet explorer when attempting making a ssl connection to webmin. When attempting to use usermin or retrieving mail I get that warning that this site's certificate is self signed. I look at the certificate and its not the same as the one I created with webmin. My question is. Is possible to have the same certificate be used by each?
I'm trying to install an Ubuntu cloud on my home network - I've been following this guide. When I arrived at STEP 6: Install an image from the store PART 3: Click on the Store tab I get the following error message on the page: Error 60: server certificate verification failed. Can this be done? A company is currently running a postfix mail server. They got a new server and, while the users are migrated, they need to have the messages delivered on BOTH servers.
I thought it could be easily done in postfix: deliver locally AND forward mail to new server, but all solutions I found would deliver the messages in just ONE place.

I've setup my server by following a ton of goods, and it seems to work ok, but I need to start using my server for email in order to receive orders placed via my website. I have just generated a new ssl key on my ftp server with the following command

I then put my new key onto my file server and attempted to connect to the FTP and it failed (this did work before with the default key).. I use curlFTPfs to mount the FTP directory locally as /ftpbackup, below is the command and the output.

It occurred to me that the most elegant solution might be the use of VM technology to eliminate as much hardware and wiring as possible.My thinking is this: Install a multi-core system and configure it to run several VMs, one each for a firewall, a caching proxy server, a mail server, a web server. Additionally, I would like to run 2-4 VMs as remote (RDP)workstations, using diskless workstations to boot the VMs over powerline ethernet.The latest powerline technology (available later this year) will allow multiple devices on a residential circuit operating at near gigabit speed, just like legacy wired networks.
In theory, the above would allow me to consolidate everything but the disklessworkstations on a single server and eliminate all wired (and wireless) connections except the broadband connection to the Internet and the cabling to the nearest power outlets. It appears technically possible, but I'm not sure about the various virtual connections among VMs. In theory, each VM should be able to communicate with the other as if it was on the same network via the server data bus, but what about setting up firewall zones? Any internal I/O bandwidth bottlenecks? Any other potential "gotchas", caveats, issues? (Other than the obvious requirement of having enough CPU and RAM).Any thoughts or observations welcome, especially if they are from real world experience in a VM environment. I liked this server package... as everything is in there I need and it is controllable from a single window. Now I am planning to move to Linux... They have a Linux version, but not stable and expensive. Is there any thing almost free/less expensive (Specially they need yearly payment for upgrade of even the anti virus and anti spam)?

I have a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 server on my network & that I inherited with no documentation what so ever and it has an application called 'Clearquest' installed from IBM. This application uses some proprietary web server that gets installed with the 'Clearquest' application. My problem is I need to find the SSL certificate the web server is using. If this were Apache, I would look in '/etc/httpd/conf.d/http.conf' but there is no Apache software installed. Can someone please assist me in a way I can look through the RHEL 4 server for any trace of the SSL certificate. I don't know the actual name of the certificate but I know the server is rendering it on the web. When I type the address of my server in the URL field, I can see the servers SSL certificate. Now how I can find that certificate path / location on the server itself?
I am facing the problem in squid server. I configured the squid transparent and its working fine and browsing but when the clients are configuring the ms outlook than squid is not allowing the smtp(587) and pop3(995) request. email send and recieve are failed.
Is there a way to synchronize the address book in Outlook when the user works on multiple windows computer, and the server in the internal network runs under Linux ?
I am currently using vsftpd with ssl support.Currently when the certificate expires I have to generate a new certificate and distribute that new certificate among the clients.Ideally I would like automatic renewal of the certificate and that certificate to then be transferred to the client upon connection.
I use Windows XP with Outlook 2003 (soon to be Outlook 2010) on my work laptop, and also the same on my home PC. I copy the .PST file containing my home emails between the two so I still have access to my home emails on my work laptop when I'm away on business. So, why am I mentioning this on a non-Windows forum?
Well, I'm migrating my home PC to Ubuntu, but I still want to be able to move the mail PST file to & from the work laptop, but I don't know of any Ubuntu mail clients that will work directly on the PST file. Those that I have looked at will import from the PST file but maintain emails in their own file format, which means I can't read the new ones again using Outlook if I have updated the mail folders with the mail client on Ubuntu.
So, does anyone know of and can recommend any mail clients that work with PST files directly? The analogy is like using Open office to read & write MS Word .doc & Excel .xls files directly without any importing or exporting. I should also mention that I've tried unsuccessfully to install Outlook using Wine, but it's not happening, same problems as described in the Wine appdb test results.
I am using FEDORA 11 and Squid 3. Squid configured and working perfectly but some Win XP users unable to access their mails through outlook express. can anybody guide me what should i do to enable pop/smtp ports via through nating / MASQUERADE etc..
I have set up a mail server and SASL and have it all working. I can send and receive mail though squirrel mail, receive from outlook, but cannot send from outlook. I am using this guide [URL]. I was even able to authenticate perfectly fine like they do be telneting to the server from root as they did. (Step 5). Now a little later in that step when they hook it up to outlook express is the problem. That doesn't work for me.

Now because I also use it as a web server to access my website and webmail, I have a pointer record with my domain registrar to also forward all [URL] to the same IP as [URL]. when I generate a SSL self signed certificate for my server. Do I generate one for [URL] or [URL]?
I am using Microsoft Oulook Web App. It is set to play sound whenever a new mail arrives but it doesn't play. I am using Ubuntu 9.04. what needs to be done to make it work?
