Debian Configuration :: Nagios Server Config Error
Feb 5, 2016Running natios server in Debian 8? I cannot start nagios3 demon, it got following error:
Error: Check period '24x7' specified for service 'check ssh connection' on host 'testk2' is not defined anywhere!
Error: Notification period '24x7' specified for service 'check ssh connection' on host 'testk2' is not defined anywhere!
But if I commented following statement in generic-service_nagios2.cfg, it works just fine.
# check_period 24x7
# notification_period 24x7

May 4, 2010I have configured a Nagios server which is working well with all king of clients. But when I added a new windows machine to monitor, it gives a error message "connection refused". I have set everything as prior machines.
Now, I just wanted to know the process by which we can check if server is able to communicate with the client's NSclient daemon. In Linux, we simply issue "./check_nrpe -H hostname" and if ok, it gives the NRPE version which indicates the status ok.

Server :: NFS Large File Copies Fail - Error Writing To File: Input/output Error?
Jun 27, 2009I recently upgraded my file/media server to Fedora 11. After doing so, I can no longer copy large files to the server. The files begin to transfer, but typically after about 1gb of the file has transferred, the transfer stalls and ultimately fails with the message:
"Error writing to file: Input/output error"
I've run out of ideas as to what could cause this problem. I have tried the following:
1. Different NFS versions: NFS3 and NFS4
2. Tried copying the files to different physical drives on the server.
3. Tried copying the files from different physical drives on the client.
4. Tried different rsize and wsize block sizes when mounting the NFS share
5. Tried copying the files via a different protocol. SSH in this case. The file transfers are always successful when I use SSH.
Regardless of what I do, the result is the same. The file transfers always fail after approximately 1gb.
Some other notes.
1. Both the client and the server are running Fedora 11 kernel 2.6.29.5-191.fc11.x86_64
I am out of ideas. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

The conky part I'll worry about later (how hard can that be?), but I'm looking for some feedback on how I'm parsing the initial data. I figure that the simplest way to get the information is to query the cgi, then take what I need from the results...

All I basically want is the server name and the process name, the above example giving server0/server1 and 'update status' as the service. How would you go about extracting merely these two pieces of information, bearing in mind that the server name and process are variable?

May 18, 2010I have recently set up nagios on a ubuntu server (9.10), and set it up to monitor all the servers, switches etc, following the quickstart guide provided on the nagios website.My problem is this:I have setup the nagios-plugins, and tried to set it up to monitor the network switches via SNMP but receive the following within the nagios web interface:SNMP problem - No data received from host I tried it from the command line, and got the exact same error.Is there some further configuration I need to do to be able to get this data?I've used up all my google-fu, and read over everyone else's problems on every forum I could find, but to no avail.

There are four hardisk in the Raid with 18 GB capacity of Quantum make. I want to make sure if any Utility is there in Linux to check the Harddisk if any Block corruption is there or Not.

1) I have my Nagios running on the linux box and BMC Remedy Server on the Solaris box. I have simulated a mail from Nagios to be delivered to the Remedy server. But the Remedy Server does not receive it. I even tried snooping on port 25 but nothing has reached the box.

May 4, 2009GNOME has adopted the pulseaudio infrastructure and it has grave errors reading from ALSA sinks. One of the many effects is that every 2 or 3 seconds a 3 line error message is written to the syslog to the effect of 'ALSA woke us up...blah blah blah' and it is filling up everyone's syslog. What I need is a workaround to just stop these messages from being written so I can level set and figure out a long term course of action.

Jan 23, 2010i just reported a bug to launchpad (#511562. i'm not sure if this bug is in flashplugin-installer or pulseaudio.when i use firefox or chrome for watching a flash video from videos for example, all works good. i then transfer the sound to a remote sink using sound preferences > output > internal audio analog stereo on myuser@otherhost. after this is done, the flash video halts. this is also true if i restart firefox and start a new video, already having transferred the sound. sometimes you can see the video taking huge skips forward. for example, on a 3 minute music video, i see 3-4 different frames from different places in the video. the sound is ok though! 100% reproducible and if i transfer the sound back to local speakers the video resumes and plays perfectly.
