I get #1030 - Got error 28 from storage engine from mysql while i phpmyadmin, i am able to get info from the database while im on my site.
The disk isnt full so im guesing it could be some user access, but how do i check this?, and fix it?

i have MySQL on my CentOS server and have installed it and got it up and running through the command line.
I have changed root's username and password so there is no user called 'root' anymore. I also created a database called pancakes.Now when i try to log in using Query Browser, i put the server's IP in 'hostname', my new roots username and password in 'username' and 'password'.When i try to log in it gives me error 1130 and says connection from myhostname not allowed.
I think this goes here, but I'm not sure. I decided that XAMPP had been troublesome enough. MySQL never worked. So I decided to instal the LAMP stack offered by YaST. I went about installing it thinking that it would all work. But it seems that I was wrong. So I try to start mysql, and here's what I get:

I have a LAMP server. I know sql but I'm currently learning PHP.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're supposed to use PHP to insert/select data from the database, right? If so, SQL shouldn't need a port at all.
Apache uses port 80, but it's listening for connections. MySQL uses port 3306, but I've never logged into it from anywhere besides 127.0.0.1/localhost. I have mysqladmin installed and it demands that I give it an IP so I used localhost.
I'm not interested in doing anything remote, so can I block this port? When I say "block" I mean on the router, not locally through iptables. Obviously I have to foward port 80 because that's how people would connect to my server. But once they connect and send something, my server would interpret the data locally and send it back on port 80.

Ideally it'll be an integrated part of the filesystem.I'm thinking some sort of RAID as a backing up my data. RAID 1 seems like a such a waste but then again, these days, HDDs are cheap.And when I do add more HDDs, I'd like them to appear as one big storage unit instead of separate drives.Any suggestions and tips on how to go about this is welcome. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer Altos EasyStore SATA NAS box that hung, the only way to reboot was to crash the system (unplug it). Upon reboot it was not recognising the hard drives (it wanted to do a destructive reinitialize). Most of the importent data was backed up, however some was overlooked and we'd quite like to get it back. Removing the disks and placing them in a PC with enough SATA bays to cope, and booting with a live linux distribution (System Rescue CD) I can see the 4 drives are not suffering hardware error and that the original partions exist. Using mdadm I can assemble the Arrays without error (seems to be three but the only one I am concerned with is the RAID5 array of about 3TB). /dev/m1p2 mounts as a loopdevice once an offset is entered. In turn this mounts as an XFS parition. However despite df showing the partition almost to be full. ls -l or ls -a on the mount point shows it to be empty!
I got thusfar using a translation from a German language forum, unfortunately I only speak a little German, and the only other English language post on a simlilar matter I found within that site had no replies. The next step was to unmount loop, then run xfs_chack and xfs_repair on the file system. xfs_check returns that there is are a few dir size and offset errors along with link count mismatches. This I would presume normal for a file system that has become slightly corrupted. xfs_repair (version 3.0.3) gets as far as Phase 3 it finds and corrects zerolength entries, offsets on directories and bogus inode numbers. However the final two lines are:

A search on the error missing out data size just returns code to generate it, is anybody able to explain what it means? Also remounting hard drive, ls and varients of still do not return anything. Am I missing some thing (root I am logged in with now would have different credentials presumably to root on the NAS box, so how do I get around this)?

I already have my laptop as a server using a LAMP server + proftpd and the FTP->MySQL link up. I built myself a new Headless and set up the SSH and VNC on it and all that good jazz. LAMP works and everything. Proftpd+MySQL (using the proftpd-mod-mysql package from repo) doesn't seem to work on this headless box. So I used the tutorial from [URL]... Thinking "I'm using 10.04 - it's close enough". Both came up with the same error. 421 Service not available when I ftp from the localhost. Is their something I'm missing? the Laptop set up (also 10.04) works groovy fine. Also all the log files are blank.

I've been attempting to set up a LAMP for local web development, which meant installing mysql-server. But now have a problem when trying to run mysql, I get:-

When trying to downgrade mysql-server I saw that there are dependency problems between the various modules (but can't recall which). But whichever route I truied the results are always the same.
Thought about trying XAMPP but I note that even has it's problems, is there any way I can get a lamp set up on FC14, or must I give it up as a bad job.

I have created a database which stores students grades for different stages of a project. One of the stages of the project is the specification part. I have a simple bit of html code which is going to be used as the searching facility. I want the user to be able to enter their ID and then it will display only their results. At the moment, it is displaying the results for EVERY student because I cant seem to find the correct syntax for my statement.

I am on a CentOS 64 bit and used webmin to rotate MySQL slow query log. Now the thing is although logs are being rotated daily but the new log files being created are empty which means MySQL is unable to write them due to some reason. I have checked using "ls -l" that both permission and owner of files is same but still MySQL is not writing logs. What could be the reason?
