Software :: Error Writing Blu Ray Data Discs With K3b?

Does k3b require free hard drive space at the finalize media stage? I'm trying to write a 17.6 GB file to 25 GB media with 18 GB free space on the hard drive. My disc seems to write 100% then displays "Error". This is the debugging code:

Server :: NFS Large File Copies Fail - Error Writing To File: Input/output Error?

Jun 27, 2009

I recently upgraded my file/media server to Fedora 11. After doing so, I can no longer copy large files to the server. The files begin to transfer, but typically after about 1gb of the file has transferred, the transfer stalls and ultimately fails with the message:

"Error writing to file: Input/output error"

I've run out of ideas as to what could cause this problem. I have tried the following:

1. Different NFS versions: NFS3 and NFS4
2. Tried copying the files to different physical drives on the server.
3. Tried copying the files from different physical drives on the client.
4. Tried different rsize and wsize block sizes when mounting the NFS share
5. Tried copying the files via a different protocol. SSH in this case. The file transfers are always successful when I use SSH.

Regardless of what I do, the result is the same. The file transfers always fail after approximately 1gb.

Some other notes.

1. Both the client and the server are running Fedora 11 kernel 2.6.29.5-191.fc11.x86_64

I am out of ideas. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

CentOS 5 Hardware :: All Discs Show As "Blank", While Konqueror Give "Malformed URL" Error?

Jan 19, 2009

I am running CentOS 5.2 on several custom built Advantech machines that are having issues reading discs.Every time I insert a disc into the drive, (be it DVD, DVD-R, CD, CD-R, etc.) the disc shows up as a blank disc, (this happens in both KDE and GDM). When I try to open the disc and Konqueror opens, it gives me a "Malformed URL" error (probably just because it thinks it's blank).

The odd thing is, some of these systems were built with a Plextor PX-760A drive, and they work fine, but newer ones with the PX-820A drive don't. Also, the hardware itself is functional because it can read discs fine to boot off of, it just has this issue once in CentOS. I tried booting with the CentOS Live CD, and it still gives me the same problem, but when I boot to Ubuntu 8.4 from my USB stick, I don't have this issue- Plextor PX-820A DVD-RW drive (IDE)- Intel Pentium D 3.4GHz- PLENTY-o-RAM

OpenSUSE Network :: CIFS Writing Error In 11.4?

In my 11.3 computer it works well. I opening, copying files like I do in local filesystem. At the same time it's not working well on my 11.4 computer: the share mounts without errors, I see all files, can copy them from server to local computer. But when I'm trying to make copies to server, sometimes I receive messages like "Error writing file ...". Not always, but in the most part of my attempts. find the part of my /var/log/messages file:

OpenSUSE :: Permission Error When Writing To NTFS In Dolphin / Get Rid Of It?

Mar 2, 2010

I'm fairly new to linux and I have a dual boot laptop with OpenSUSE 11.2 and Windows 7. I have ntfs-3g and have full read-write ability to my Windows drive through OpenSUSE thanks to NTFS - openSUSE. The only problem is whenever I write to the NTFS Windows drive via Dolphin it does the writing but I get an alert box saying:
"Could not change permissions for <path to new file>" with an OK button.
If I write more than one file I'll get one alert box for each file unless I don't press OK until after it finishes writing all the files in which case it will just give me that one that it was showing (once I press OK there aren't any more boxes).
Since I have full ability to read-write this isn't that big of a problem it's just annoying as hell an I'm sure it's pretty simple to get rid of. code...

Ubuntu Installation :: Won't Read Most Discs?

Dec 9, 2010

I have several old poweredge 2450 servers I bought recently, used. I have made several Ubuntu 8.04 or 8.04.4 server cds. They all hang on the packages.gz file trying to install. I used the check disc function on the 2450s and it can't read the file, it thinks it is corrupt, though it works fine on a more modern computer.have tried several similar computers. I have burned to CD-R and CD-RW. I have burned at 8x (slowest on my drive).I have checked the MD5. I just don't understand why these computers won't read this disc properly. Or several other discs, like SMS server or tiny core. Won't read them either. Oh, but it reads Ubuntu 10.10 server just fine, installs ok, well slowly, but it works.

OpenSUSE Network :: Cloning Discs And Networking?

May 26, 2011

I haven't used linux in a long time, and have to install OpenSUSE 11.3 on ten of our servers. What I plan to do is install OpenSUSE and all our required software on one of the servers, and then clone that drive to all the other server drives (the servers are hot swappable). My question is:

What do I need to worry about conflict wise? So far the only conflicts I can see that I will need to address are machine name (hostname) and set unique static IP addresses? How can I change the machine name (ie. server01, server02 ...) and IP address? Is there any other stuff I need to change as well?

We have a 2U file server running windows. All of the servers (1 x Win and 10 x linux) will be connected to a 24 port gigabit switch.

Is there also any special stuff I need to do to allow access to the Windows server (file etc)?

I will also require remote access to the servers, but assume that this will be easy to setup?

As for sleep mode, I assume that's fairly easy to configure through the interface?

Ubuntu :: Getting Programs From Fedora Install Discs

Jan 6, 2010

I am fairly new to ubuntu and linux in general but have bee experimenting for a little while. As part of that experimentation I ended up with a set of fedora 11 install cd's except for disc 4 which had a faulty image. The fedora cd's have some programs that may be handy in setting up a server. This prompts my thoughts to turn to getting the programs off the fedora cd's and installing them on ubuntu. Both are a gnome desktop environment, and there are a whole heap of files with names that look to me like files for part of a serious installation.

is it possible to use the ubuntu installer program to look at these and then install only some which I can't do if I just look at the filenames.
