I need to check my mailboxes for errors. My imapd has permanent errors, it periodically crashes. I think that the problem will be with some errors which was created when I converted my previous maildirs to mailboxes.
It is possible to check the integrity of these mailboxes with some command or script?
I have a Linux server that has local mail service. There are few user accounts on this server. User may send the mail to each other but that only restrict to LAN environment only.
For example, I may
# mail user1
To send mail to user1. User are not able to send mail to public. Some service like hylafax using this local mail service to send notification of fax status.
I don't want to manage and maintain local mail service anymore. I have subscribed a package from ISP to host a public domain of my own. I wish to have my hylafax service to able to send the notification mails to public mail server, is that possible to do it? It is great if all mails that send to local mail server may forward to public mail server. That makes the local mail service serve mail forward only.
(We are running CyrusIMAP v2.3.16 on Slackware 13.1)The Problem:A user deleted a HUGE public Folder (>10000 Messages, >250 Subfolders), and now the Folder is in his "Trash" folder.Besides the obvious "Why did he have the access rights to do so in the first place??" question, I am honestly at a loss as to how the user did it:Trying to copy it back using Thunderbird failed utterly, TB crashes, or copies only a part, or nothing at all... (Tried 3.x on Windows and Linux Clients)So now I'm searching for a way to copy the folder back serverside. But web and manpages seem to offer few help:I don't want to move the folder to another partition, nor do I want to reconstruct or restore any corrupted data...All I want is to copy the folder from "user/USERNAME/Trash/HERE" back to "shared/archive/HERE".
i have setup mailrelay using postfix and relay email to exchange server. The problem is how can i relay email to multiple exchange server. For example: -
domain aa.bb.com relay to exchange server 10.10.10.10 domain 123.test.com relay to exchange server 192.168.10.5
I clicked "Safely remove hardware" (not sure if it's right - using Russian version..). It's right above Properties (right-clicking on the disk in Computer). So, I want to get it back. How do I do that? Also, how do I check the SD for errors?
I started to use mailboxes instead of maildirs on my server. My server is with imapd on slackware.I found out that by Thunderbird I just cannot create sub-folders in my imap directory. My users used to manage their mails into hierarchically organized subfolders.
I am using sendmail-8.13 & procmail as an MDA. Now as our mail users are increasing I need to put up mailbox quota limit for every user. I have gone through the search engine but could not found any effective help to configure mailbox quota with sendmail & procmail.
I'm looking into migrating postfix mailboxes and users from an old machine running Fedora5 to a new machine running cenOS. I was wondering, what would be the procedure to migrating over existing postfix mail to the new machine? Is it as simple as copying over /home directories and /etc/passwd etc?
We're using sendmail with ldap routing. We've setup a new mailstore which some of our users are piloting.
We've been asked to configure sendmail to forward a copy of pilot users emails to the new mailstore (Zimbra) as well as the old (Sun Messaging).
I'm not exactly sure how to do this. I've tried modifying aliases to forward to 2 destinations, but ldap routing seems to take precedence before aliases.
i followed this tutorial to the "T", [URL]. I am not able to login to the mailboxes with squirrelmail, it says "connection dropped by imap server" I used the whole address as a login just like it said to do. I can sucessfully authenticate with outlook express but it throws an error that say's [URL], no such file or directory. i can telnet into it remotely but when i type ehlo [URL] it just keeps showing all the 250 lines and wont let me generate a message.
from what i saw on the comments on the tutorial and googling there are many other people with this problem, however i found no solutions. This is fresh work and i have not touched any config files since finishing the tutorial
I'm running Postfix in slackware 12.1. The mails are stored in /var/spool/mail/username. When a user's mailbox size got more than 200MB, the user can't check their mail. when it happend the log shows:

I have a laptop, running Windows Media Centre unfortunately, and I think the hard drive is hosed. I was wondering is there away of checking the hard drive for errors using the ubuntu livecd? I would put ubuntu straight onto it only there are various items within Windows that the owner needs to get.
Would anyone know the equivalent of chkdsk for Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop? I have a Western Digital 2TB ext hdd that I want to check for errors. Will I lose any data if the errors are found and then fixed?? Maybe better to just get a report of errors found first!
I am running fedora 14 32 bit. I have upgraded from fedora 12 through 13 to 14 using the preupgrade method. I just ran a yum check which threw the following errors.
[Code]....
Odd that system-config-display is still a fc12 version and it seems it didn't get upgraded. I have no system issues.
Dual booting Mint 8 and Windows 7. Windows is reporting a file system error. I go into properties and check for errors, but since it's in use it asks me to reboot. I do, and grub comes up. I select windows and it just takes me to windows without checking the file system.
I'm having some problems with errors reported by fsck on my EXT4 root partition on my Ubuntu 10.10 installation... If I run fsck I get the following output:
I am trying to upgrade RH9 to F10. I have downloaded dvd iso image i386. The SHA1 integrity check passes. The installer fails media check due to "errors". I did an independent verification of the DVD and zero errors found. Download was from Fedora's own torrent, so files should be verified anyway. If I bypass the media check I get the message : Running anaconda 11.4.1.62 the Fedora system installer - please wait.....
I'm trying to set up a PXE boot server on a PC running Slackware 13.0 using the default apps and info shipped with that Slackware version but to no avail...Carefully reading the Slackware 13.0 README_PXE I've put together this dhcpd.conf file:
# dhcpd.conf # # Configuration file for ISC dhcpd (see 'man dhcpd.conf')
I have a RHEL5 machine having mysql5.0.22 is installed in it. i also installed java through "jdk-1_5_0_19-linux-i586.bin" package, and its version is 1.5.0_19. I am trying to check if any JDBC driver for Mysql Server is installed on my system . How can I do this? If any driver is already installed How can I get the file path for those driver files? is it comes along with jdk packages? As i am not a programmer, and does't know more about jdbc.
After searching the forum I could not find a clear answer to my question so I am giving it a try...
I have installed a LAMP server with Postfix as mail server. The scripts send email as user www-data using the mail server on the same machine.
However, the email got rejected by external mail servers (failed reverse DNS check) so I setup a mail server that meets all needed requirements.
Now I would like to use this second server instead of the mail server on the LAMP server. I found that this could be done with changing sendmail settings in php.ini (I think).
However I am not sure how that will go: www-data is no actual user on the new email server (which requires authentication before sending). Do I need to create a new user on the email server or change the settings in php.ini to match an existing user?
I'm using a linux server where nat server is running. Local user are connected from this server. So is there in tool that i can check that local user getting internet? or how can i check that a user connected from linux server using internet or where he visited?
I was using Terminal and browsing a directory in my home folder. My "home" directory is located on "/dev/sdb1". When in Terminal I typed "ls" in one of my directories and the output was garbage. The output didn't show the files in the directory. I think it said something like, "input/output error". Unfortunately, I didn't write the exact error down. Instead I rebooted. The hard disk with the problem is:
Code: $ sudo hdparm -I /dev/sdb [sudo] password for brian:
I would like to implement something when a server is offline for whatever reason. For example. I got my own DNS servers and webservers. I would like it if the users goes to www.somedomain.com and the server it is actually on is down for maint. or For whatever not able to respond. What can be done so that if the server isn't able to be contacted that it can point to either a another server or the dns somehow can display a page stating who to contact to report a problem or to let them know its down for maint. And can goto a site to check the status or whatever.
