Server :: Change The Default Interface In CFEngine Configuration?

I'm using CFEngine 2.2.8 to configure a network of Debian servers, the servers have two interfaces eth0 and eth1, how can I configure cfagent to take as the default interface eth1? eth0 is the internal interface and eht1 is the one with the public IP, I need to define classes based on lists of public IPs and it would be really helpfull if I could use functions as IPRange that only consider IP in eth0 interface.
i have created a wordpress user with a symbolic link from his home (/home/wordpress) to /usr/share/wordpress but when wordpress ftps to wordpress home dir it does not follow the sym-link. is there a way to set default ftp dir for the wordpress user to /usr/share/wordpress rather than /home/wordpress?

how can i change the default language ,i have to .because if gnome is in English ,i can't run the Chines input method.
I'm looking to customize the environment for new users by changing the items in the GNOME menu, change the panel layout, add some shortcuts, and do a few other things. I looked in /etc/skel and there doesn't seem to be anything GNOME related in there; I also tried to put .gconf, .gconfd and .gnome2 from my home directory into /etc/skel and that didn't do what I wanted.

I am *finally* getting around to rebuilding my file-sharing computer. I'll be sharing files with both Linux and Windoze machines. It's a home network, so there's nothing fancy needed. I know I have to tweak my smb.conf file until I'm satisfied with the features and security. I'm using SWAT and I'm starting with a bare-bones conf file. It's not secure but I can see the server and selected files/directories from my other Linux box.
My really dumb question is, do I have to reboot both the server and the client machines every time I change the SAMBA configuration? I thought I just had to stop and restart the SAMBA service in the SWAT software - but then the server disappears from my client. It looks like I need to reboot both machines for the client to see the server.
I have install Mandriva 2009 and install apache server but its not strating on default configuration file . What I should do for starting apache . i have tried /etc/init.d/httpd start but apache is not running .

When you first access Nagios, it displays the Home page (the Nagios Core version and check for updates page). I would like to have a way to change the default page to either the Tactical Overview display or the Services display.This question was asked here, but not answered
I want to change my ssh port from the default 22 to something else. I did the following: vi /etc/ssh/sshd_config; uncommented Port 22 and changed it to the desired port number. After that I run service sshd restart for the change to take an effect. Now, when I want to login into the new port I receive this message - Network error:Unable to route to host. When I change the port back to 22, I will be able to login again.
I installed Ubuntu Server and want to change the default user name to increase the difficulty of accessing the server.Is it possible to do this? If not, can I effect the same change by creating a new user and transferring over permissions, files, and etc.?
I finally got the server running. All seems OKAY, however I want to change the default player on my server. As of now, when I upload a file, it plays but has no "play/pause/stop/mute/fullscreen" buttons. How do I get those? I've tried installing FFMPEG, MPlayer and a few others to no avail. Please suggest a tried&true method of allowing for this. I need it to be able to at least play audio(mp3) and video(mp4,wmv,avi,flv)
I am now using CentOS5 as the server providing Apache services. I have managed to setup the web page under /home/user1/public_html, now I wish to change the default web page of our server to /home/user1/public_html. i tried to modify httpd.conf, in which i changed the "/var/www/" to the above user directory, but didnot work. I have a Centos 5.5 and we make remote connections with Xfree from Windows to the Linux Server. We start the Xsession with the option -clipboard, but it's not working. Which settings do I have to change in the server configuration that the clipboard works in the Xsession?
I'm trying to get yast2 to default to the QT interface. I have used these instructions but each time I run yast from the KDE launcher it still uses the GTK interface. I have also checked that the Yast2-qt package is installed. And have rebooted after setting it up, but it has still not worked.
I know it can work as if I run in konsole /sbin/yast2 it uses the correct interface?
the other day I was playing around with various GDM themes for the login screen without realizing that they're not really supported in the newest version of Ubuntu (10.10). Somehow though, I managed to install one of these themes (not sure how I got it working), and now I want to restore it back to the default login interface. how to go about this without screwing something up.
Im trying to achieve the multiple uplinks/provider found on LARTC.org. I have to get the IP addresses from my interfaces (EF1 and EF2) by using a script, but i dont know where to look at for the default gateway from each interface which got their ip address from my ISP.

I own two computers, one netbook and one laptop. I want to boot my netbook as a diskless client via PXE.I set up a dhcp-, tftp and nfs-server on my laptop but when i boot my netbook, the follwoing messages are displayed:(to make it more clear, i uploaded the whole output and shortened the output below)
Something seems to be replacing some portions of the default gui appearance in gnome with the old win98 look... Wine maybe? I have wine installed and I use it for a few of my pld windows programs, but all the programs in the screenshot are native linux programs...
I have OpenVPN working well, but I can't figure out how to change the default route. By default, a "route" shows me: 192.168.0.100 * 255.255.255.255 UH 0 0 0 tun0 But I want it to read: 192.168.0.0 192.168.0.100 255.255.255.0 UG 0 0 0 tun0 ... so I can access other computers on the network. I can accomplish this manually by running: ip route add 192.168.0.0/24 via 192.168.0.100 dev tun0 proto static How can I get this to be the default route? I've tried adding push "route 192.168.0.0 255.255.255.0" to my /etc/openvpn/openvpn.conf on the VPN server but that has not helped.
I'm renting a server which comes with 5 IP addresses, but only one network device. From what I can understand I'm able to create aliases by adding entries to /etc/networks/interfaces, I haven't tried I'm in the planning stages. Hypothetically, 192.168.22.30 is my primary IP and I want to set eth0:1 to have 192.168.22.31, and then after that I want to create a virtual machine (using kvm/qemu) that is able to communicate bidirectionally to the internet over eth0:1, and leave eth0 strictly for administrating (not for VM traffic).
The qemu guides I'm finding seem to assume that I want to use TAP or VDE, what I want to use is a sub-ip/alias. One guide I saw had me eliminate everything from eth0 and put it under br0. That would leave me unable to ssh into my server (and unable to administrate). Is there a way I can do something along the lines of: qemu [options] -net [option] -netdev=eth0:1 ?
