i installed apache 2.2.15 in my system its working properly.... but i deployed some php files in /usr/local/apache2/htdocs ... i was not able to run that php files ..... if i run that php file in browser it shows content of that file... for an example i created one test.php file(it contains <?php echo "hello world" ?>) and put it in /usr/local/apache2/htdocs... if i run in browser using this [URL] its shows in browse like this <?php echo "hello world" ?>......

we're about to migrate a set of workstations (ubuntu 10.04 LTS) to a new kerberos/LDAP setup. Basically, this requires the installation of some required deb packages and to copy some new .conf files over the original ones.We made a deb package having these "features":requires the needed other packages as dependenciesbacks up original conf filescopies the new conf files to the right places (i.e. /etc/krb5.conf,/etc/ldap.conf)The problem is: apt-get complains because the deb is "touching" files owned by other packages (kerberos, ldap, etc.). Therefore, the only way to skip this check is either to force apt-get to proceed or using the "replaces" directive in the deb control file, specifying the clashing packages. omething like this:

I suspect that this has come up numerous times, but I am new to Linux and I am setting up a new in-house server using Ubuntu 9.04 and Apache, etc. I can see the welcoming "It Works!" message when I log in via Firefox. I can see "index.html" when I FTP the server with the site name and password at /var/www. I can also see the -rw-r-r-- attributes, but I can't edit the HTML file or replace it. When I try to rename the "index.html" file.
I get the following message: "Request denied. Verify that the file or folder exists and that you have the necessary permissions on the server to perform the requested operation."
I haven't been able to determine where to enter the password or what changes I need to make to be able to work with the /var/www directory via FTP.

I try to config my apache server to list all my files: c/c++, php, java files, like the txt file on my server,
e.g /var/www/mydomain/pub
i want to dump all my c/c++, php, java file under the pub directory and I can access it from my domain name,
if I dump txt file, I have no problem to view it, but when I dump c/c++ or php files under pub directory, then I can't view it like regular txt file,
Q: is there anyway I can configure my apache server to view all the c/C++, php, java file as like txt file?

how I can deploy a WAR file with a Tomcat that happens to be installed on a server. I divided it to different small questions but no strait answer so far.
These are the things I've done:
created a myapps folder inside the tomcat directory, and copied the WAR file there.
These are the questions:
1. I did not touch anything inside the Tomcat folder, anything need to be changed?.

We have to install centos 5.5 in approx 60 servers and we want to have a server in which we can create an image of 1 server and deploy it on all other severs through pxe. Mainly all servers will be having raid 5 or raid 1 configured. So the utility should be having the raid support.

i've had my dedicated server for about 16 months now and my log files are huge and I host a few small sites but one of them is quite large and can get a log file (access.log and error.log) of 1-2gb a month so over a year can take up almost 30gb just for that site so I clean them out regularly but I'm wanting a more automated way to do thisi've been thinking of using the find command using something like this but it isn't workingCode:find /var/www -name "*.log" -type f -size +10M -exec echo > {} /;

I've tried on both 10.04 and 10.10. I apt-get install apache2, and put a simple "hello world" perl script in /usr/lib/cgi-bin, but when calling the script via the webserver I get a 404 "file not found" error.
/etc/apache2/sites-available/default already contained (out of the box)

This used to work out of the box in the days of the older monolithic apache. What configuration has to be made to enable scripts to run?

I am very new (since yesterday) to Linux also new to web server setup. I have installed all LAMP components, including SSL as described here: [URL]. I have added LISTEN 443 Wanted to restart the apache server -> no success ! stopped it, now doesn't start at all:

I tested Apache and my PHP earlier and it worked. Now after SSL and FTP installation it doesn't work anymore! Also I am wondering about my server name, it is the set IP of the web server, surly i should change that? Only used link for SSL set-up, used diff links for apache php etc (also have java JRE installed as I will need that later for my app) also have GNOME available, but prefer command line.

I need to deploy Windows Server 2008 R2 onto a server that is currently running Linux. Effectively, I want to restore a Windows disk image onto the Linux system hard disk.I don't have physical access to the machine, so I need to find a way to do everything remotely, using SSH (no KVM). And the Linux machine only has one hard disk - the one containing the OS. However, I might be able to create a partition in free space at the end of the hard disk to store the image (I might need some help with the Linux commands). Or perhaps the image file can be pulled via FTP.
I tried Acronis but was disappointed to find that it doesn't seem to allow me to overwrite the system partition (unlike the Windows version of Acronis, which is capable of doing this with a restart).

Possibly off-topic, as this is in a VServer, running a non-standard kernel, but both the host and the VServer are running CentOS, so.....I've been happily running a small web site on a CentOS 5.3 host, using Linux-VServer. (So it actually runs on a 2.6.22 special VServer kernel.)This *might* be connected with updating to 5.4, but I'm not sure how. VServer itself was not touched, and httpd runs inside it (that is, using the VServer's httpd, not the CentOS one. Vserver however, is running Centos.
Suddenly, anything I load into the VServer DocumentRoot is not visible. A ls -l of files that show and files that don't show the exact same thing. That is, for example-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 106314 Oct 5 22:38 mutt.html-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 390 Oct 26 22:09 new.htmlYet, mutt is viewable and new.html just gives me a 404.
So, I then edited the mutt.html.I added a line like line for testing or something similar.That too, does not show up. That is, the mutt page shows, but the change I made in it doesn't show. I've tried restarting the vserver, but that did nothing.(And yes, I did hit refresh on the browser and also used another browser, to be sure.)I raised apache log level to debug, but neither access nor error shows me anything.I'm not even sure what terms to use in googling, trying things like newer files apache not visible and similar have brought me no luck.

I am a newbie to linux of 4 weeks. I set up my first web server and it works flawlessly - when accessed from external network or from other computers on my lan. However, I cannot access it from the computer where the server is run on. I have found numerous people with similar problems but the flavour I am experiencing is somewhat different and no solutions I have found apply to it.I have two network interfaces on my server, eth0 (public static IP connected to internet) and eth1 connected to LAN 192.168.1.0/24 range. The server is 192.168.1.1
I added "192.168.1.1 www.server.com" to the /etc/hosts on the server and also on the other machines on the LAN. All the other machines can open website without any problem.
HOwever, the server itself only opens website if the address is localhost. Internal IP, i.e. 192.168.1.1. gets a time out and so does www.server.com.I do not understand why the record in etc/hosts doesn't point it in the right direction. It seems that when I open address 192.168.1.1 it still gets routed to the external network. I have seen using DNAT to deal with the problem but it didn't work in my case (maybe I didn't do it correctly). I have spent whole evening/night trying to sort it out, it's 4AM now, going to bed frustrated and angry (at myself hahaha). Still like linux very much, won't be going to windows anymore. Please help

Will there be any issues installing and then subsequently running a Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 installation on a VirtualBox VM on a Linux host (Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit)? I require Windows Server 2008 R2 for a course I'm taking, and I dont have any systems to install/deploy it onto.

We are having an odd apache issue. Certain files are not being served out.The files actually live in a remote DFS volume served off a windows system. They're mounted under /data/vizwx. There's a subfolder here called wx_intranet which has all the data.The Document root for this virtual host is /data/www/htdocs. There is a data/vizwxsubdirectory with a symlink named wx_intranet which points to /data/vizwx/wx_intranet .SELinux is completely disabled (not even permissive).
When a user requests a file from http://<host>/data/vizwx/wx_intranet/VizWx_14c.jpg no error is given to the browser. Firefox just shows the URL in question (I can't even view source). The <vhost>_access.log file shows: wx_access.log:172.16.1.16 - - [19/Feb/2009:15:30:16 +0000] "GET /data/vizwx/wx_intranet/VizWx_14c.jpg HTTP/1.1" 206 167791And there's nothing in the <vhost>_error.log, even after cranking the LogLevel up to info.
The permissions on the files in the share are slightly weird for reasons I don't fully understand, but they should work... the files are an effective 'chmod 3777 <file>' for all files in the mounted directory... that's with Sticky and SetGID bit set.What am I missing here? Oh, I also modified the Vhost's options from "Options all' to 'Options all -SymLinksIfOwnerMatch" to see if that was the problem... no dice.)CentOS v5.2, apache 2.2.3

I have a nagios server monitoring around a 1000 hosts in our office. To make things easier, i've integrated apache into Active Directory for the website authentication. This works perfectly, however the Nagios website uses alot of CGI scripts to display information I get the message below when trying to show CGI scripts with an AD user. Local users work fine. 403 Forbidden You don't have permission to access /nagios/cgi-bin/status.cgi on this server. I tried adding the AD users to the cgi.conf file within Nagios (which works for local accounts) but it doesn't seem to work even with this change.

I recently started using SVN with Apache for my web development, although I find it really annoying that I have to issue two SVN commands (one local, one remote) to update my web site. I have been looking into SVN post-commit hooks to solve this problem. The only problem is that apache does not have permission to modify files in my user directory... So here is how everything is setup. I am running Slackware 13 full install. There have been no installations overriding any of the default installs.

I am running opensuse with LAMP, and this is my first time setting up this type of server (usually am a windows junkie) My problem i am having is that I am unable to view my website from outside the local network. I have setup my router for a dynamic dns and forwarded all the ports through the router and the local firewall. I ran the apache setup through YAST2 and everything seems fine locally but when i attempt to access it elsewhere its not connecting. computechsolutions.dyndns.biz is the dynamic dns address i have setup through my router.

I tried creating a virtual server in apache and it got created successfully. (I also added a zone in dns for that domain successfully) However, when I try opening that domain in my browser, I see a popup window which asks me what to do with "default" which is a php file type.
I dont see the index.php which should actually open. What do I do to make the php files display correctly?
