SUSE / Novell :: Mplayerplug-in Not Working In Open 11.2

Aug 23, 2010

Just installed opensuse 11.2 (64-bit version) and I have a problem with the Mplayer browser plugin. Basically it comes up OK, I get the MPlayer plugin splash screen and controls exactly as expected, it downloads the media successfully (or at least looks like it does) but then doesn't play, it just reports "Stopped".

Mplayer itself works fine, it's just the browser that doesn't.

System info:

OpenSuse 11.2 (64-bit)
kernel-desktop 2.6.31.5-0.1.1-x86_64
MozillaFirefox 3.5.11-0.1.1-x86_64
mplayer 1.0rc4_r31930-1.pm.3.1-x86_64 (from packman repo)
mplayerplug-in 3.55+cvs20100124-0.pm.1.1-x86_64 (from packman repo)

SUSE / Novell :: Open 11 Losing It's Net Connection - Particularly When Using AMule

Dec 3, 2008

I have been using Open SUSE 10.3 for about a year now and have been very pleased. I am now trying Open SUSE 11, it seems good, loads a lot faster than 10.3 and seems to run a little faster. I have had a few probs but they have been resolved with help from these forums. But I have a big prob remaining and I have no idea what could cause it. For no apparent reason I will lose the connection to the net.It happens mostly when running aMule, it can be downloading fine for some while when suddenly the connection to the servers is lost and it won't reconnect, and then also I can not connect to the net with Google etc. The only way to solve it seems to be to shut down, wait awhile then reboot. It will be OK for a while then the problem re-occurs. There does not seem to be a problem with anything else on the system. I know that the Modem is OK as I have three HDD - 1 running Win XP, 2 - running Open Suse 10.3. 3 - running Open Suse 11 & the prob only occurs with SUSE 11, I do not get this problem with either of the other HDD. I have tried three versions of aMule, with SUSE 11,the one given on YAST - v2.2.2-0, & others from Packman v2.2.1-0, & vSVN, the problem occurs with each version so I think it must lie with SUSE 11. I have opened ports 4662 & 4672 on the firewall, & the setup I use is identical to the one on 10.3 which works faultlessly. I use a NTL Modem connected to the PC via Ethernet.

SUSE / Novell :: Why Do Open Programs Disappear When Minimized In Kde

Dec 2, 2009

Anytime I open a window and then minimize it-poof it's gone! for instance when I minimize firefox or just about any other app it just disappears instead of landing into the panel as it usually does when minimized. Is this a KDE problem? I just tried to upgrade to 11.2/KDE on the net (that was a mistake.) I finally installed from Downloaded DVD (install version) and crawled back from upgrade hell.

SUSE / Novell :: 11.3 DVD Installation From Pendrive Not Working?

I'm having issue with trying to put the 11.3 DVD iso to a USB pendrive...I've verified the ISO md5sum matches, formatted the pendrive to FAT32, unmounted and finally done:

I click OK...finally I get stuck on

SUSE / Novell :: Glibc Not Working After Upgrading Using Rpm2cpio

Jul 6, 2010

I have a use case where in I am trying to build a yacc program using bison. When I run this on SLES 9, I get errors. But the same works for me fine on a SLES 10 system.

The versions of bison, glibc are different. Hence I moved the rpms from SLES 10 machine to SLES 9 and did a rpm2cpio of these 2 to a temporary folder and did a export of LD_LIBRARY_PATH. When I try to run the program ( ./bison) I am getting a segmentation fault. I have the following questions :

1) IS the scenario what I am trying to do - using a newer version of libc( from sles 10) to sles 9 supported ?

The NetworkManager program under KDE4 works fine and can connect to my home wireless network. However, The previous of NM cannot cannot connect to any wireless network.

I find it kind of odd, since KNetworkManager is just a frontend to the real NM, with was not actually changed when I downgraded.
