i'm trying to install php on my RHEL 5.1 from the "Remi repository" but there are some missed dependencies that i need to install it, i read that they are in the epel repositories so i tried to enable it, the instructions i read to do it says that i have to do this:[URL]yum repolistbut this is what i get:Quote:
I am trying to install epel-release-5-4.noarch.rpm without success. It says Public key for epel-release-5-4.noarch.rpm is not installed. How and where do i get this dependencies? Do I have to build it myself using text editor?
I use Fedora 15.Not sure if I understand how EPEL is related to rpmfusion. Is EPEL a branch of rpmfusion or are they a completely different projects? What other major 3-rd party repositories would you recommend for Fedora?
I recently installed Deluge 1.2.0 from the following PPA:[URL]I using this on two different Linux computers. One is running Linux Mint 8 and the other is running Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10. The first time on either computer when I enable WebUI in the Deluge GUI it works fine. However if I ever disable it in plugins section I am subsequently unable to re-enable it (doesn't appear in the side panel again). Rebooting or reinstalling Deluge seems to have no effect. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
I am trying to install the IDS component barnyard2 on RHEL 5. I am following the snort enterprise insall document by Patrick Harper. For installing barnyard, after the tar command it says to perform a ./configure --enable-mysql The --enable-mysql does not work: configure: WARNING: unrecognized options: --enable-mysql --with-mysql does work. Is there a difference? Next, using --with-mysql, I get a failure at the end:
ERROR! Libpcap library/headers (libpcap.a (or .so)/pcap.h) not found, go get it from Open Source and Linux Forums dot tcpdump dot org TCPDUMP/LIBPCAP public repository or use the --with-libpcap-* options, if you have it installed in unusual place. Also check if your libpcap depends on another shared library that may be installed in an unusual place I do a find / -name libpcap* and get:
# /etc/fstab: static file system information. # # Use 'blkid -o value -s UUID' to print the universally unique identifier # for a device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name
I've been running 10.04 on a partition of my Dell laptop successfully for weeks. Now, I get the login screen, and when I give my username and password and click "Ok" it logs in, looks like X starts, then immediately goes back to the login screen with the drum sound (is that a bell?). If I type the wrong password, it doesn't log in, so I know it's getting past authentication.
I've tried logging in as one of several users.
I've tried running in recovery mode and running "clean", running "repair packages" (it downloaded and installed a lot of packages), running in safe graphics mode (failsafeX). None of those had any effect.
I've tried looking in /var/adm/messages and looking at X logs that are presented in safe graphics mode. I see tons of stuff, and none of it obviously stands out as an error.
It is likely almost out of disk (maybe 300M left?), but I can't find evidence that that is causing this problem.
I'd like to somehow repair my Ubuntu install without wiping it.
After reading some about it, it seems that I could copy and rename any off tty /etc/init/ttyx.conf (expect tty1 which is special for security mode _and_ normal mode)
But after reboot whit tty12.conf - the screen went wired and a lot of error-messages was all over the screen, so I had to remove it again.
I'm getting a USB error -71 and I found that disabling ehci_hcd allows my USB port to be usable. When the server boots up, ehci is automatically loaded and once that happens, the USB is rendered useless. Is there a command in Grub to downgrade the USB version?
Another option would be to make an .img to load up without USB 2.0 and using USB 1.0 but I don't know how to make one.
Just installed 6.0.1 on my computer with a GA-H55N-USB3. It seems to have a Realtek ALC892 on it, and six 3.5mm jacks out and SPDIF too. I installed alsa and sound came from the 3.5mm jack, but I want SPDIF. I don't know what approach to make to enable it and that's the problem. SPDIF just have two modes in alsamixer, "00" or "MM" (muted). Master and PCM are set to 100. The SPDIF connecter is'nt even lit. How to enable it? I tried "alsactl init" and then rebooting, it made no difference.
I upgraded my box this morning and I get to know something woring till now. I can't play video with the default video output xv in mplayer now. mplayer tells me that

I naively think if I downgrade all xserver-* and mesa* to previous version, it will work again. But I failed.
I installed Fedora 12 and everything seems to work fine except that I can't get sound from ....., pandora, or anything other than the weird system noises to work. I have ALSA and PulseAudio installed. Is there some simple procedure to enable sound in Fedora 12?
i'm using F13 64 bit on an hp pavilion dv7. i turned off my mousepad today with a hardware button that is located above it and after re-enabling it my mousepad won't work. i rebooted and it still won't work. how can i re-enable my mousepad
Whenever I try loading ksystemlog application I get an error message saying "The file '/var/log/syslog' does not exist". Can anyone let me know how do I fix this issue? Screenshot of the message attached.
I just 'yum installed' php and php-pgsql.I appear to have weak search-foo and cannot figure out how to enable php in apache ( the nifty php-info page does not appear, just the hello and world I put into the file before and after the php-info call ). My intent is to be able to use phpPgAdmin. So I will also need to enable the php-pgsql shared object. I need to add to httpd.conf and any other initialization that I need to do?
I want to share some folders over a network but, when i right click a folder I don't see sharing option in the menu that used to be in Gnome 2 I'm using Fedora 15 with Gnome 3 .
Every time I try to setup TLS in openldap using the yast applet. The database blows up and dies. I cannot restart the ldap service unless I create a new database. Basically I get LDAP up and working perfectly. Then I use yast to go and enable TLS and SSL support. I put in the paths of the certs. Then hit okay and that is when it blows up. I cannot restart the service. I follow the directions exactly in the link below. OpenLDAP Faq-O-Matic: How do I use TLS/SSL? Where is says "using certificates".
Here is what it says in the /var/log/messages Code: Jul 6 16:45:31 leia slapd[23996]: @(#) $OpenLDAP: slapd 2.4.17 (Oct 24 2009 04:51:18) $#012#011abuild@build32:/usr/src/packages/BUILD/openldap-2.4.17/servers/slapd Jul 6 16:45:31 leia slapd[23996]: config error processing cn=schema,cn=config: Jul 6 16:45:31 leia slapd[23996]: slapd stopped. How can I enable TLS/SSL on openldap in opensuse 11.2 without the database dying?
Here's my problem: Clean OpenSUSE 11.3 64 bit installation using default options into a Virtualbox virtual machine for pre-production testing. I want to check whether AppArmor is enabled, so I enter YaST -> AppArmor Control Panel.
This has a check box named 'Enable AppArmor' which is by default un-checked. I check this box, and then click 'Done'. This takes me back to YaST and I would assume AppArmor has now been enabled. However, when I return to AppArmor Control Panel the check box is deselected again.
