i'm using F13 64 bit on an hp pavilion dv7. i turned off my mousepad today with a hardware button that is located above it and after re-enabling it my mousepad won't work. i rebooted and it still won't work. how can i re-enable my mousepad
I recently switched to Fedora from Debian (Fedora 12 LXDE Spin), and the one thing that bothers me is that I can't find a way to enable tapping on the mousepad to click. So far the solutions I've found have included editing the xorg.conf, which, to my understanding, is no longer included in the Fedora kernel.
The mouse was working fine until I pressed the 'lock' button right above it. Since then I have not been able to move the mouse 'once' I get logged in. The mouse works fine when in the login screen. I have tried resetting several times. The keyboard seems to be working, but I don't know where to go to fix the mouse, and I don't know many keyboard shortcuts ** Solved **It's been filed as a bug and has yet to be fixed:[URl]A code below was used effectively by many but made my system freeze when I started up. I ended up reinstalling. So just a general warning.
I really enjoy using Mousepad for my programming. A lot of you might stare at me for a second, but I really do like it. I do use Medit from time to time for it's tabbed interface and syntax highlighting. I know Mousepad doesn't have syntax highlighting but I figure if I know how to program without relying on the colors, then I can understand the structure and dynamics of a programming language's syntax.how can I change the indent size on Mousepad? It seems to be at 8 and that seems like too much of an indent. When I have to go over to my Windows machine, my indent size is 4 there on Notepad++, as is Medit here on Linux.
I have been using ubuntu 10.04 for a couple of months. But recently facing a mouse related problem. In my laptop HP Pavillion DV7 last week I added the mouse for some work and after finishing it I removed it. But after that my laptops sensor stopped working whenever I login. wht I mean is now at the login prompt the laptops mousepad works fine but after I press login the pointer gets freeze and doesn't work at all. Then I created another user and with that user its working perfectly. Why this weird problem is happening s it because I connected the mouse in my laptop or some thing else
I recently purchased a new Sony Vaio laptop for my sister and convinced her to try Ubuntu. I am now trying to install Ubuntu 10.10, alongside pre-installed Windows 7.I am installing through the Live CD. When I boot using the live cd, it takes me to the ubuntu desktop as usual but the mousepad is not working at all. I used keyboard to navigate and click the install Ubuntu icon. However in the step where you are required to specify partitions, I can not specify the size ofifferent partitions ad the mouespad is not working and hence, I can not use the slider. How should I now proceed with installation. Could it be some driver related issues. If Ubuntu was installed, I could have installed drivers or tried solutions as suggested in some other threads (changing some config files etc.). But how to proceed in Live CD.
Mousepad in xfce seems to have a problem when compiled with the latest libraries. In Slackware Current (13.1 RC1?) the "Find" button stays disabled the SECOND time you try to do a "find". Because of this, you can only do one "find" without closing Mousepad and opening it again.I found a bug report for this problem in a forumr a different distribution:[URL]I have applied this patch to the current xfce source code on my local machine and it seemed to solve the problem. It would be nice if this patch could make its way into the 13.1 release.
I recently downloaded the Lucid ISO from the ubuntu torrents and installed it toa usb drive using Unetbootin. I restart my computer, use the bios setup to boot from usb, I boot, but when the system starts, I can't use the touchpad. the model is a synaptic touchpad
I tried to install Ubuntu 10.04 on a quiet old DELL Inspiron 2650. During the install process, neither mousepad nor keyboard (German-Swiss) are detected. Hence it is impossible to get through the install process.
Well a few days ago I installed Ubuntu for the first time and I'm really enjoying it but there is one thing putting me off and making me want to go back to Windows regularly - the fact my mousepad scroll option doesn't work, something I require quite regularly.
I have googled things about fixes and I'm a beginner, so some of the things were too advanced for me and others didn't work. with this so I can have the best experience I can with the operating system.
I recently installed Deluge 1.2.0 from the following PPA:[URL]I using this on two different Linux computers. One is running Linux Mint 8 and the other is running Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10. The first time on either computer when I enable WebUI in the Deluge GUI it works fine. However if I ever disable it in plugins section I am subsequently unable to re-enable it (doesn't appear in the side panel again). Rebooting or reinstalling Deluge seems to have no effect. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
I have a HP Pavilion Dv71245dx Laptop running Debian Wheezy, which has been alright so far except for the mouse wheel built into the right side of the touch mousepad. It's positioned in such a way that makes my thumb hit it all the time by accident while typing, and it's been a total nightmare. I would just like to disable the scroll wheel feature on this mousepad entirely, but I would like to do so in such a way that I can still use the scroll wheel on my USB mouse whenever I have that plugged in.
I reinstalled my Acer netbook with the newest Ubuntu remix edition, ything worked fine.Today I performed an update, and after rebooting the mousepad decided to stop working, I've checked if the disable mousepad feature was turned on: it wasn't.currently I'm running 2.6.35-22-generic, how to fix this glitch ?
I installed Fedora 12 and everything seems to work fine except that I can't get sound from ....., pandora, or anything other than the weird system noises to work. I have ALSA and PulseAudio installed. Is there some simple procedure to enable sound in Fedora 12?
Whenever I try loading ksystemlog application I get an error message saying "The file '/var/log/syslog' does not exist". Can anyone let me know how do I fix this issue? Screenshot of the message attached.
I just 'yum installed' php and php-pgsql.I appear to have weak search-foo and cannot figure out how to enable php in apache ( the nifty php-info page does not appear, just the hello and world I put into the file before and after the php-info call ). My intent is to be able to use phpPgAdmin. So I will also need to enable the php-pgsql shared object. I need to add to httpd.conf and any other initialization that I need to do?
I want to share some folders over a network but, when i right click a folder I don't see sharing option in the menu that used to be in Gnome 2 I'm using Fedora 15 with Gnome 3 .
I have installed Fedora 12 on my laptop (Lenovo X61s) and now I have some problems with my OS. Please help me to config my machine.Currently I can not enable Desktop Effects any more. I receive this message: "Accelerated 3D graphics is not available. Desktop effects require hardware 3D support."
I'm sure that I could enable the functions of compiz when I used fedora 11 and Fedora 12-beta on my laptop before.Besides, when I represent my slides, I can not see my screen on my laptop any more. It's dark. When I used Fedora 12-beta, I can see my screen and another screen for my representation. Is my Fedora lack of some necessary packages? Is it necessary to reinstall the VGA driver? How can I do?
To enable automatic login, I edited the /etc/gdm/custom.conf file and entereted the following lines:
Code:
The automatic login is working but I still see the login box with options to select language. After a delay of few seconds, the system will automatically log me in. I don't know why I see the login window. Is there any way to bypass this window?
Is it possible to temporarily enable all repos from within the command line? It would be useful when searching for packages. ie yum enablerepo=* search tint2 (which doesn't work btw!)
I just installed Fedora on my system. What should I do to get some nice desktop effects? Is there something that needs to be installed? or do I need to change some settings?
