Which is fantastic. Tested this on all kind of audio and I can hear them fine. So headset is working wonders. Except, everytime I want to switch the output from between the speaker and the headset, I have to go System > Preference > Sound > output tab > click on the switch. Which is fine, but the switching procedure via GUI is very arduous. Is there a way to to do this via the command line, if so I can bind it to a hotkey and therefore with one hotkey I will be able to switch between headset vs my speaker?

Jul 3, 2011Using Ubuntu Linux for some years now I love CUPS functionality to switch on the printer (at least my USB connected HP Deskjet) automatically when a new print job has been submitted to CUPS. This does not work in Fedora 15? Does anyone know how to enable this or has the new CUPS or any other component lost this functionality?

Fedora :: F11 Audio Volume Changes Everytime When Switch To New Song In Any Music Player?
Sep 2, 2009First of all, this is not a rhythmbox issue, but a pulseaudio one. Everytime I click on next song (in rhythmbox or amarok), the master volume drops about 25 percent. Once the volume goes to 0, the volume cannot be modified without going into sound preferences and unmuting the volume for the application. This is *very* annoying. Basically, it means that everytime I click on next song, I need to follow that with 2 or 3 hits of up volume.

Apr 14, 2010Basically the situation is that the boot hangs if my USB KVM switch is connected. The keyboard works fine through the KVM switch to access the BIOS menu and in the grub2 menu, but as soon as it starts to boot, I get a black screen with a white cursor on top which never goes anywhere.The weird part is that if I disconnect the KVM and reboot, it gets past this point and I can reconnect the KVM and both the mouse and keyboard work normally.However, even if I plug the keyboard in directly but leave the KVM plugged in, the boot hangs. Something about the fact that the KVM is connected (rather than not detecting keyboard) is causing the boot to stall.
The even weirder part is that this worked fine on my previous build, which was 8.04 upgraded sequentially to 9.10. But my system drive died so I rebuilt directly from 9.10 ISO and now this does work. I have tried downgraded to grub .97, I have tried switching between server and generic kernels.This seems to be the same issue reported in[URL]

I wish to be able to have either both wireless and wired connection working
For example: when LAN is connection the wireless is switched off, when LAN is disconnected the wireless comes up (WPA2)
I know that the Network Manager in Gnome does this auto switching for you but I need to know how to do this in command line only.

Dec 8, 2009I have a program that attaches to an interface. I can run two copies of the program on two systems (each running one instance), connect it to a switch, say 1.1.1.1 & 1.1.2.1. In this configuration two instances of the program can communicate and everything is fine.
Now, to reduce cost, it want to use only one system with two nics connected to the same switch, running two instances of the above program, each instance attached to two interfaces respectively on the system. I have the following settings:

If it matters my system is like this:

Linux 2.6.36
Xorg 7.6
X server 1.9.2
Intel Corporation Mobile 945GME Express Integrated Graphics Controller (fully accelerated by intel modules)
When I boot up the system, it uses the integrated monitor (LVDS1) only, and I have to manually manually switch to the external monitor (VGA1) using xrandr.
Is it possible to configure my Xorg (or whatever) so that it uses the VGA1 output if present?

I'm wondering if someone was downloading a lot of data and someone else connected whether it would split the access 50:50 between them? I have 1 user that is using a lot of bandwidth but the server doesn't seem to split it up between all connected clients so others are receiving slow access. I don't have this client's IP address but I do have ncsa auth connected. Will delay_pools work with an ncsa username?

1) At work, I have a 1280x1024 second monitor.
2) At home, I have a 1920x1080 second monitor.
3) In meetings and other places I have no second monitor.
Whenever I switch between these setups, which is at least several times each day, I have to manually change the monitor configuration. I use the nvidia-settings tools.
Granted, it only takes a few seconds. Is there a way to make the system smart enough to automatically detect when a monitor is added or removed, know *which* monitor is attached, and reconfigure the resolution and monitor layouts the way I want them?

May 4, 2010I have beating my brains out trying to get Lucid Lynx connected to an SME Server 7.4 to automatically mount windows shares. The winbind stuff seems to work okay after I installed a restart script in /etc/network/if-up.d (kudos to OsGnuru & bobpaul for that) There is a short wait on network up before winbind can validate but that is not a show stopper. I have looked at (what I think) is the correct log for pam_mount and it seems to be running through to the end process okay. It looks like it is either not reading the pam_mount.conf.xml file or I have not configured it correctly as it just reports "No Volumes to Mount". I have appended the log file, pam_mount auth, password, session & common conf files as well as the pam_mount.conf.xml file for review.

I didn't have this trouble in 9.04 on his computer. The problem now is, he actually replaced windows with Ubuntu this time, so he wants everything to work. So what software was installed in 9.04 and how do I get it to 10.04?

The problem is, when I connect the headphones to the from panel audio jack, only right headphone works. Left one has no sound. But if I connect same to the main jack at the back of the machine, everything works fine. Both headphones have sound.

Feb 28, 2010I wanted to take an audio feed from a stereo amplifier into my HP Pavilion DV6 laptop, in order to digitally record some old vinyl.
In the Sound Preferences tab, I seemed to be able to record easily from the internal mic, but there seemed to be no easy way to switch the preferences to enable recording from the Line In socket on the laptop.
We tried muting the mic, this only caused the system to record nothing. We also tried all the various available options in "the Hardware Profiles" tab, "Settings for the available device", but no the laptop seemed to be getting no "line in" input with whatever profile we tried.
On Mac, it was as simple as switching the input sound preferences from "internal mic" to "line in".

Mar 4, 2010I can get sound with my integrated sound but I have a sound card in the pci slot that i want to use (more specefically my video card can play sound through an hdmi cable which i use.it is hooked up to a tv).the system sound and audio players and video players all play sound through the pci slot but flash will not.it keeps playing sound throught the integrated sound. is there anyway i can change the sound device with the flash plugin?ive tried pulseaudio but that was a disaster and would rather not use that again.
