I would like to know if what this log error mean and how i can resolve this matter. I would like to verify if this is a misconfiguration or a bug on my settings
the log error is:
snmpd:error parsing ', skipping
the RHEL version used was 4 update 4 64 bit
the snmp packages installed were:
net-snmp-5.2.1-0.2 net snmp-lib - 5.1.2-11 net-snmp-lib - 5.2.1-0.2
4 of them are working fine, the application installed on 10.1.1.10 can query 4 servers but I got 2 Linux Centos that are in a DMZ, and my networking team already opened ports and configured NAT but the SNMP Server 10.1.1.10 is not able to query them how can I check the snmpd is really running apart from service snmpd status? might be related with the DMZ configuration?
I get this error when I try to start up firefox: Code: XML Parsing Error: undefined entity Location: (null) Line Number 30, Column 7: <menuitem id="context-copy" ------^ It's a GTK window with black text with yellow background. I've tried removing the .mozilla folder uninstalling firefox completely and deleting /usr/lib64/mozilla and /usr/lib/mozilla folders. Same error. So I tried running firefox under root, and it displays the same error plus:
Code: Failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit, or you have stale NFS locks due to a system crash. See [URL] for information. (Details - 1: Failed to get connection to session: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.) So after long hours of frustration I created a new "test" user and firefox ran fine. It still doesn't work on my old user account and root. My system is "Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.30.9-102.fc11.x86_64 #1 SMP Fri Dec 4 00:18:53 EST 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux"
I'm having some issues upgrading my F9 to F12 using 'preupgrade' so I'm looking for anybody who has ever been able to complete a preupgrade from F9 x86_64 to F12. The error message I receive is TypeError: Parsing primary.xml error: attributes construct error. To my knowledge this has been reported as a bug in F10 which was resolved by a yum update to version 3.2.24.
For F9 the latest yum version is 3.2.21 which has this Parsing error bug that prevents the preupgarde to continue. Interesting enough that the preupgarde lets me select Fedora 12 and progresses with all the preupgrade steps properly until the parsing error occur. How to fix this Parsing error on a F9 x86_64 system.
i am facing problem in installing oracle 10g R2 on rhel4 x86. following error is throwing while installation:-java.io.FileNotFoundException: /tmp/OraInstall2010-02-19_10-21-06AM/oui/instImages/images.properties (No such file or directory)
I have a code that does 3D rendering that worked on a system running RHEL4 32-bit with an NVIDIA GeForce 260 video card. I have a new system now running RHEL5 64-bit (The shared object libraries for the code are 32-bit) with an NVIDIA GeForce 295 video card that when I execute the code I receive the following error:
BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes) Major opcode of failed request: 143 (GLX) Minor opcode of failed request: 5 (X_GLXMakeCurrent) Serial number of failed request: 26 Current serial number in output stream: 26
Can anyone give me any ideas on what could be causing this error? This really isn't my area of expertise unfortunately. I'm not the author of the code. Could I be missing some libraries or something along those lines? Let me know if you need me to post up more information.
I'm new to LinuxQuestions and this is my first post. I'm trying to build rrdtool to install Cacti and encountered the following problem: 'make' step returns an error messages:

There is actually another problem with the computer which is "The Nautilus application has quit unexpectedly" everytime I open File Browser application or right-click>Properties a file/directory. This happen only after installing cairo and pango and I don't know how to revert to old version. Since there are a lot of log files so I'm very confused. Can someone give me a direction on how to resolve this?
I am new to Ubuntu linux and recently installed it on my computer. I did a system scan and this is what it said, ML Parsing Error: not well-formed Location: file:///media/Cruzer/submission.xml Line Number 4807, Column 53: Checking for hardware/setup problems... [#[33mWARN] What exactly does this mean and what is a possible solution
I'm trying to install PPTP following this guide http://www.dotcomunderground.com/blogs/2010/04/10/poptop-pptp-centos5-installation-setup/but when I enter the command yum --enablerepo=poptop-stable install pptpd
I haven't been able to locate this cause. The problem developed as follows:
1. Used a downloaded .ymp file to add a community package, chose NOT to add the repo permanently from the Customize button... installation of package failed. 2. Added the repo manually in Yast Software Repositories and it went thru the process without error, BUT the repo never appeared in the list. (this is where i think the problem lies) 3. Tried to add the package using .ymp package without blocking the new repo addition... package installed successfully. Then deleted the repo using Yast Software Repositories gui.
Now starting Yast Software Management the process starts and downloads the repo.xml files from each enabled repo, then displays a error msg stating "Parsing Error". Dismiss and it loads the normal interface and seems to work properly from then on.
As trying to update my system the other day I was greeted with a message I did not want.

I am currently trying to upgrade over 100 rpms on multiple Red Hat servers. Whenever I try to do a rpm -u /packages/*.rpm i recieve a failed dependencies error on the very first rpm. I know that I can go though each rpm one by one and trace each dependency but that will take forever. Is there a way to skip these errors? I know the -nodeps command for rpm but I dont want to screw something up but running all of these rpms on -nodeps
Ive created a bootable RHEL4 USB flashdrive so that I can do my installs from rather than using CDDVD's. The USB key boots fine to the point where it asks me to select a drive that contains the ISO images, but it doesn't show me the USB drive to select, only my 2 hard drives sda1 and sdb.
We currently use HP xw9400's with the following spec as shown in dmidecode:
BIOS Information
System Information
I know that the xw9400's have the nvidia mcp55 pro chip on the motherboard that handles USB, keyboard, mouse and other peripheral traffic, so am wondering if this could be what the problem is? Like there may some code that i need to tell the machine to use this or something?

I am using rhel4 with kernel 2.6.9-55 ELsmp. I have recently purchased 250gb seagate portable usb HDD. I have already mounted the usb HDD by updating Kernel with mode 755 and root user. I can transfer file from usb HDD to rhel system. But I am unable to make directory or copy file from rhel4 file system to usb HDD with ntfs. It is giving error message of permission denied though the device having write permission. I have already installed ntfsprog-2.0.0 in root. But there is no improvement. Is there any thing I can do to transfer data from linux system to ntfs.
I am trying to setup Postfix along with dovecot on RHEL4. I have done the necessary settings in dovecot.conf, yet I am not able to log into the POP3 server. The error I can see through WireShark/Ethereal is "Err- Authentication failed" Some of the important settings in /etc/dovecot.conf are
I have a Cent OS 5.4 32 bit final installed in my dedicated server. I used to run lighttpd with php in my server until now and all was fine. But yesterday I changed my website which needs apache to run. So installed apache using yum install httpd command. Then I added the virtual host name of my domain in webmin panel but when i try to run my php script in browser then its not opening php pages. Instead it downloads php files like index.php when i open in browser. So I guess apache is not able to compile and run php pages. Only html pages are opening right now..
All, i am receiving numerous entries for programs such as snmpd in my messages file. Is there a way to add a rule somewhere to have these and other annoying unimportant entries go to /dev/null or something?
I tried adding an entry to /etc/syslog.conf, but that hosed any logging into the messages file, so maybe i added it wrong?
I want to try and do this with out installing anything additional.
I m trying to find an answer for this matter. I have download the SNMP version which I am concerned due to the following problems. I am trying to configure the SNMPD.conf and I cannod find any tutorial on the internet.
