Programming :: Stat On Cifs - Fails With Error No 75 - Error Shows "Value Too Large For Defined Data Type"
Dec 29, 2010
i have Ubuntu10.10 (kernel-2.6.35-22-generic) installed. struct stat StatBuff;
[Code]...
I have mounted a windows share folder on /mnt. When i gave any directory within /mnt/ to stat function it fails with errorno 75. perror shows "Value too large for defined data type". Example 1 is fail but Example 2 works fine.
I am trying to convert a mdf file to iso with mdf2iso and this message pops up "Value too large for defined data type". The file is about 4.6 GB. Any other information
I've downloaded a big file from another server via "wget" to my /backup/ directory, and after the download was compeded I did run "ls" and the error was:ls: full_plesk_backup: Value too large for defined data type.
I am trying to generic way to convert the string datatype to other primitive data type. To achieve, i used Template . But i getting error and couldn't resolve the issue and error reported is also clueless.
Have been running Karmic 910 for six months on a Dell Latitude D510 laptop with a Pentium M CPU, 2 GB of RAM and Intel 915 graphics, and I really like it, especially the Gnome desktop. However, a glitch occured after suspending, resuming, shutting down and trying to restart. Now after selecting Ubuntu in Grub the Ubuntu logo shows up onscreen, doesn't seem to pulsate, and eventually is replaced by an error message that the system gave up waiting for root device.
The LiveCD shows the Ubuntu partition as unrecognized, unknown or unused in Palimpsest Disk Utility, though Gparted shows it as normal ext4. The partition doesn't show up in Places. From the command prompt (via ctrl-alt-F1) I'm able to run fdisk, which shows the partitions but am unable to mount the Ubuntu sda4 partition - the error message is that the file type must be specified.
Starting recovery mode in Grub brings about 25 lines of startup messages, mostly dealing with usb devices, but a few render errors are there too. The last message before dropping to the ash shell is that a device could not be found. (ALERT! /dev/disk/by-uuid/5cee... does not exist.) The ash commands are completely new to me, so I haven't had any luck with recovery mode.
If the problem is related to Intel graphics, I would like to try some "quirks" (software fixes for hardware problems, including Intel graphics bugs) mentioned on the ubuntu.wiki site. I'd also like to recover the data on the desktop, but so far cannot get into the file system.
Does GRUB need to be reinstalled? If so, why?
Would reinstalling without formatting anything preserve the data?
Would upgrading to Lucid help prevent the problem from occurring again?

I'm a C / assembler programmer so am not use to C++, which I need to use. Basically I'm using my own versions of memcpy, but for long and int rather than char. It's for fast graphics. So I have a char array which I copy to another array. But I copy as either longs or ints, much faster. for example
I have perl/tk installed and working. I tried using c++/tk and had to change the #include path in the headers to find the tk.h and tcl.h. I tried compiling a simple c++ program with g++ to test that the headers are correct. the line i type at console is:
g++ test.c cpptk.cc cpptkbase.cc -o test.bin
I fixed all previous errors, except for the following.
I am playing around with a new chat program and I have errors that I can not figure out. Here is what I am getting.
parse.c:1638: error: dereferencing pointer to incomplete type parse.c:1638: error: dereferencing pointer to incomplete type parse.c:1638: error: dereferencing pointer to incomplete type
here is the code:
if (scan->jail_timeout == 0 && scan->location == prison) { command_type |= HIGHLIGHT; tell_player(scan, " After serving your sentence you are flung out"
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 with a complete LAMP installation (for local developement purpose).
Everything is OK (I installed phpMyAdmin without problems) except for one big problem: php shows 500 server internal error instead of a complete error report.
I tried editing php.ini and in-script runtime configuration but nothing changed.
I'm only partially new to Linux. I'm running Fedora 11. I've just set up two machines, I thought to be identical. Evidently I missed something. I had some problems getting the network started on the second machine, and I must have forgotten a name change somewhere. Anyway, after doing lot's of comparisons between the boxes, editing and renaming and re-linking the ifcfg-GigaStorey file, they are both functioning. The problem is that whenever I start or restart the network on box 2, it reports the following error:
Bringing up interface GigaStorey: RTNETLINK answers: File exists Error adding address 192.168.1.6 for eth0. [ OK ] The file ifcfg-GigaStorey is linked in the following directories /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts /etc/sysconfig/networking/devices code....
Like I said, it's not super critical, just annoying. The networking comes up ok, but the error is puzzling. I figure if I learn what this problem is I'll be one step closer to my Linux beanee.
So, I had Ubuntu and Mint on my second hard drive (first drive has 7), and I reinstalled Ubuntu over the entire thing (upgraded from 10.04). Ubuntu now has one drive to itself, while Windows has the other. When I did this, I booted into Grub Rescue. Restarted and switched hard drives, same thing. I loaded the LiveCD and followed this repair guide. I discovered I don't have a Boot.cfg (or .lst) or another file of the three required. I noticed my install did not have any /boot partition, so I reinstalled a few times, all with the same error. Finally, I go back to the LiveCD desktop and run the following: sudo grub-install --boot-directory=/media/[long string]/boot /dev/sda And this is the output: Code: /usr/sbin/grub-probe: error: cannot stat: /dev/sda/ This is on Ubuntu 11.04 with GRUB2 (1.99).
I'm trying to make some pages. For this I try to host them locally. However, when I have an error in my PHP code, the server shows an internal error 500 page and doesn't show on what line and what compile error it encountered. There is no such information in the error log either. What should I do about it, it's not really nice to comment all the lines and then try to uncomment them one by one. I've been googling for a while, but didn't find anything.. I forgot to mention, I;m using Fedora :P, the apache that came with it and mysql and php from the repository...
can you see below command i give return me error however it has been working fine before. there is 1 directory i want to make it .tar.gz [root@sa1 script]# tar cvzf /var/opt/bkup_axigen/axigen_bkup_2.tar.gz /var/opt/axigen/domain tar: Removing leading `/' from member names tar: /var/opt/axigen/domain: Cannot stat: No such file or directory tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
I just loaded octave. I ran through a few examples of how to implement a script file. Everything works until I get to "plot". When I run the "plot" command I get the following.
octave:2> test1.m error: can't perform indexing operations for <unknown type> type sh: gnuplot: not found Just to double check my work, I ran the following code: y=[1 2 3]; plot(y);
I recently upgraded my file/media server to Fedora 11. After doing so, I can no longer copy large files to the server. The files begin to transfer, but typically after about 1gb of the file has transferred, the transfer stalls and ultimately fails with the message:
"Error writing to file: Input/output error"
I've run out of ideas as to what could cause this problem. I have tried the following:
1. Different NFS versions: NFS3 and NFS4 2. Tried copying the files to different physical drives on the server. 3. Tried copying the files from different physical drives on the client. 4. Tried different rsize and wsize block sizes when mounting the NFS share 5. Tried copying the files via a different protocol. SSH in this case. The file transfers are always successful when I use SSH.
Regardless of what I do, the result is the same. The file transfers always fail after approximately 1gb.
Some other notes.
1. Both the client and the server are running Fedora 11 kernel 2.6.29.5-191.fc11.x86_64
I am out of ideas. Has anyone else experienced something similar?
I reinstalled fedora the other day, and it's been working just fine, apart from the internet. It shows that I have a full connection with the wireless network, but it's really difficult to actually load a page. 80% of the time it just fails and shows "Page Load Error". It's really frustrating because it is connected to the internet. In fact, the icon in the address bar even loads from the site I try to access, but websites just will not load.
I've tested my wireless internet with another laptop which is running vista, and it works perfectly on that. Also, I'm running Fedora 10 on an Acer Extensa laptop.
This is what I get when following the instructions to fix grub. I type in "grub-install /dev/sda" and that's the error I get.I'm trying to put Ubuntu or Mint on a Dell Mini 9 with 16gb ssd, but no matter what I do I cannot achieve this goal
well I am a novice in Linux OS, I have a wireless card, it's a Linksys WUSB600N but it doesn't work in Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop Edition, which it is the one I have, 64 bits machine, so I read this [URL] and I did all the steps, I downloaded 2010_0915_RT3572_Linux_STA_v2.4.0.2.tar but in the last part, sudo make install I got this error
so i have no way to get connected to the internet, what is that error cannot stat `rt3572sta.ko': No such file or directory, I think thats why i can make the wireless card work.
i used my windows box to connect to ftp(fed box) and i keep getting an error saying "The requested name is valid, but no data of the requested type was found." does anyone know why i cant connect?
I declared a variable as int data type which was a placeholder for a resulttatus (meaning, based on the result status that variable varies from 0/1/2/3. It can contain only these four values).data type is 4 byte integer in C#. But I can declare this variable as which represents a 1 byte integer. Since that variable contains only 1 or 2 or 3 or 4, declaring the variable asis wastage of memory space.Before declaring any variable we need to just think of the memory space needed for that variable, our requirement,
in c/c++, double is usually 8 bytes. It has a 52-bit mantissa (or significand, or base), an 11-bit exponent, and a 1-bit sign. My question is: is the mantissa a 52-bit integer? Or is the decimal point just after the first bit. Meaning: if the mantissa was 1000110011100011 (in binary) would that make the value of the mantissa (assuming the exponent was 0) 1000110011100011, or 1.000110011100011? (in binary)
I have 2 hard drives on mu box 1st one is 500.0 MB ext4 Volume where I have my syste FC 13 and a 2nd one where I put my database files as follows 78.1 GB ext4 Volume usage = filesystem, format ext4
ih file browser, I can see an icon for a 80GB hard drive but whenever I double click I get the following
Quote:

clicking details
Quote:

What is very strange is that mysql works fine.In disk utility, it indicates that disk is healthy, but when I click check file system i get
File system check on "data" (Partition 1 of ATA MAXTOR STM380215A) completed File system is NOT clean
I have installed both Windows Xp and Fedora 12. Last time when i was working on Fedora it didn't shut down properly. Now following error occurs and finally the system sleeps.
