Programming :: Why Is 6400 Baud Not Supported?

I desperately want to get away from DOS and Windows, change to Linux... however I need 6400 baud for a special dongle. I found out my PC is working in Windows perfect at this baudrate, but in Linux it is unsupported.termios.h seems to have no support. I'm programming in C++ and want to use 6400 baud.
With setserial software I can have a divisor of 18, then the baudrate = 115200/18 = 6400. However, I want to use it in my programs (G++) and maybe also in Dosbox until my program is completely converted to Linux... however, if Linux does NOT support 6400 baud this operating system I have to stick to MFC, which is terrible.

I am using the command:

to try and change the baud rate from 9600 to 115200 on device USB0, but I keep getting this error.

stty: /dev/ttyUSB0: unable to perform all requested operations
ttyUSB0 is not locked, and I know it is capable of 230400 b/s so I know it should handle 115200 just fine.

It always makes the baud rate 9600.How can I make the baud rate be configured automatically according to the terminal's baud rate? Can I?

I use Minicom on the recenet Ubunto Linux and have a single USB 2 serial device and my Minicom doesn't have 57600 for selection.

I am writing a simple serial port programing based on s3c2410. However, I found that I cannot change serial port attributes including baud rate using tcsetattr. I think i have follow "Serial Programming Guid for POSIX operating system" strictly, but why it does not work? the baund rate cannot be changed to 115200?

I am using openSUSE 11.3 , 32bit.I do the appropriate setting in 'minicom' application.I have two devices 'a' giving message at debug port at 9600 baud while 'b' at 115200 baud..Both 'a' & 'b' work fine when connected to serial port of computer.'a' works well if I connect it to serial to USB adapter which is plugged into USB port of computer.In case of 'b' , the above method yields failure.Do I have to set anything for device /dev/ttyUSB0 ?

This is a new install of debian 7.7 amd64 on the following new hardware
MSI A78M-E35
A6-6400 APU
Basically I am unable to get gnome 3 to run (it defaults back to some legacy ver). I tried a few other distros out there FC17 worked but FC20 failed. Just tried Debian Jesse it works after installing linux-firmware-nonfree but want to stick to a 'stable release'
dmesg says i need to install firmware-linux-nonfree so i did that but to no avail. Here is dmesg:

I have a very strange problem in a C++ RHEL4 app. Here is the code: socket(PF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, 0) returns errno 97 socket(PF_INET, SOCK_DGRAM, 0) returns successow that is strange or what?additional info:1. Extracting the above code into a test program, both return success.2. Placing the above code into the 1st line of my app, error as above.3. I ran app and test program in the same terminal window.4. My app links in many static libraries 5. My app runs fine when compiled and linked on RHEL56. My APP is a ss7 endpoint (SIP <==> SS7 message flow)7. I verified PF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, SOCK_SGRAM values are correct.

I'm on a Dell Inspiron 6400 which had been running Ubuntu 10.10 (32 bit) perfectly.Today I upgraded it to Natty and the wifi now refuses to work. Details: While no Additional Drivers were needed on 10.10, upon installing Natty it prompted me to install "Broadcom STA proprietary wireless driver". Now when it's active I don't even have the option 'Enable Wireless' (only Enable Networking). If I disable STA the Enable Wireless option comes back, yet I can't actually search for wifi networks or connect to my saved one. The keyboard key to enable/disable wireless also does nothing.
I can take this laptop to somewhere with an ethernet connection for an afternoon if need be, but am currently stumped as to what to do. Obviously I know this machine can handle Wifi under Ubuntu - it's definitely a Natty problem.

i can use internet in my Laptop. My laptop is only connected with wireless. No cable connection avilable here. Wireless is functioning well in windows 7 but in openSuSe 11.2 it is not functioning. I've searched on this issue in net and found that i've to install Packman repository or install driver from broadcom website. Please help me by giving easy way to do so. My brother has just installed 9.10 on his Inspiron 6400 and would like to have a dual screen setup using both the laptop display and a flatscreen attached to the VGA socket. Using the standard display options, the two displays are recognised and when the 'mirror screens' option is disabled then settings applied it works to the extent of allowing the cursor to move between the two monitors; however the monitors display nothing except a black screen and the cursor.
I've updated everything to the current version, had a look for restricted drivers (none are suggested by the GUI tool thing) and checked both displays work (both independently and as mirrored). I also had a look for an xorg.conf to poke around in but there wasn't one there.

just installed ubuntu on a dell inspiron 6400 but the wireless doesnt work.
However, it works 100% when running from the live cd.
Can i install/copy the driver from livecd to hard drive, or is there another soultion for this?

I've got a wireless problem on my laptop (dell inspiron 6400).I don't know when exactly and why, but every time I watch a video on ..... or allostreaming, after a while (a few minutes), my wireless disconnect and it's impossible to get back any connexion. The only solution I have is to reboot my computer.

In the ordering of files I keep I need links to directories. Sometimes I even need to move directories to new locations. I have tried using symlinks, but they become dead when I move the directory they point to. I have tried hard links, but I haven't found any Linux file system that would support hard linked directories. How can I achieve that a complex structure of directories (currently with symlinks for directories and hard links for files) keep symlinks live when directories are moved?
- is there any utility that updates symlinks when a directory is moved?
- is there any Linux filesystem that supports hard linked directories?
- is there any good Linux interface to the new NTFS (the only file system I know to support automatically updating directory links, called directory junctions)?

I am attempting to install CentOS 5 on a Dell poweredge 6400. The drives are configure for Raid 5 with about 67 gigs of space on the server. When I select any option under Partitioning of your hard drive, it gives me an error. " No Drives found - An error has occured - no valid devices were found on which to create new file systems. My home connection is dialup via an 8-bit ISA modem. I plan to use the old box with the modem in it as a gateway and do my actual work on this laptop. Connection away from home is not so easy to get in my area.
SuSE 6.1 has no problem operating the modem, so the hardware works. SuSE 6.1 can't seem to make anything else work though. How can I configure Debian to see and operate this modem?
SuSE sees the modem on /dev/ttyS1. The same chat script does nothing on jessie. I'm guessing that jessie is just not seeing ISA.
I'm able to install packages onto the box via a usb drive but that's only on the days when the local coffee shop's wi-fi actually works, which is rare.

I am new to Debian Wheezy and I can't install anything. Ever time I try to install a .deb file I get the message saying that installation is not supported by backend. Also I'm unable to install from the terminal; it always says something like "path not found" or "file doesn't exist" (I'm on my phone so I don't have an exact error detail). Everything I've read tells me to install something to fix the problem but I can't install them due to the same error.

I just got a new DVD burner and decided to get a cheapest burner (an LG SATA burner) I did not have much preferences on either IDE or SATA so I just got a serial ATA. K3B burns DVD's just fine, but the speed is pegged at 1x even though writing speed specified was 8x. Device buffer is fluctuating from 0 to 80% all the time, which seems to suggest that the data is not being fed into the drive at good sustained rate to write faster.
I tried:

My brother is a linux master and the computers I get handed down are obviously all use linux. I am trying to play a wmv file on my comp. I just downloaded mplayer but it seems not to work. I have movie player as well but it tells me the file is not supported. Read about w32codecs but they seem not to be available anymore. Maybe I need to convert the wmv to mpeg but yet I don't know how.

I built a new pc with an intel atom processor and 1Gb Ddr2 ram with on board sound and graphics. When i try to intal or boot live (from flash drive) The screen pops up asking boot or instal. Whether i choose either/or i recieve an error on my monitor saying input not supported. I got a similar error when i tried an older monitor.My current monitor is an aoc lcd screen (not sure of model no.)
