Programming :: Perl - UDP Server Receive / Send Packet To Host

I have found many examples out on the www for creating udp servers with sockets. The problem I am running into is after I receive the packet from a host I need to be able to send a custom made packet(I'm using RawIP / NetPacket to make my packet) back to this host. The only way to do this is seemingly through the send() function. This function however doesn't appear to allow me to specify which host to send my packet to.

I'm trying implement a small server for a university work, my server is creating, binding and listening but it don't accept any connection, these are the files I'm using in server:

I'm a newbie trying to modify a DNS-formatted UDP packet. I am piping DNS replies through a firewall queue where I get the packet with $udp_obj->data provided by NetPacket::UDP. Is there a command line application that will break down the udp packet for me so I can extract an answer? Cpan doesn't have a module to do this. One can *create* udp packets programmatically or get them off of libpcap, but I don't need either.

Can someone help me with this problem,trying to send a packet,using tcp/ip,the packet should look like this:

0x01 = general failure
0x02 = connection not allowed by ruleset

field 3: reserved, must be 0x00
field 4: address type, 1 byte:
0x01 = IPv4 address

1 byte of name length followed by the name for Domain name

I am trying to generate a UDP syslog packet from my C application. But I am facing a problem with a Cisco Router ACE that does not like the Source Port being '0' and thus drops the packet.How can I specify the Source Port in the UDP header to '514' as stated in RFC3164 (Section 2: Transport Layer Protocol)? "It is RECOMMENDED that the source port also be 514 to indicate that the message is from the syslog process of the sender"

A bit clumsy subject, but I would like to make a script, which is able to send and receive email messages from CLI. The script should work like this:
1. read user input from stdin(for example a mail address)
2. send mail over SMTP(SSL, port 465) to a mail server
3. mail server sends an automatic response, script should just display this response email sent from mail server over IMAP(port 993)
At the moment I have a fallowing configuration in my Thunderbird:

Is it possible with 'mail' utility? Do I need to configure some sort of MTA at first(I use SUSE and I have Sendmail installed by default)? What are the steps, to get this script working?

I recently purchased a domain and I have setup what I believe are correct dns records from the domain companies control panel. I have the domain pointing to my server and that's working fine. I also have an MX record for my domain. Now, I can send emails from my email account just fine however I cannot receive any emails coming in to my account. Heres an example:

I've set up a fully functional e-mail server and can send and receive e-mails to and from an array of virtual domains without a problem. The only hiccup I have is that only root is able to send e-mails via mutt. I have not stipulated a sendmail line in the mutt configuration so it's sending e-mail with default configuration. How can I get it so that all users on the server can send outgoing e-mails via mutt?

I just set up a new email server on Debian Lenny. It's Postfix for MTA and Dovecot for IMAPS server. I use Dovecot for authentication. I have two UNIX users on the system (except root), one was added before the installation of Postfix and Dovecot. I'm not doing any virtual things, just plain UNIX users and one domain on a dynamic IP. The first user, "webadmin" can send and receive emails just fine through the server from my mail client.
Now I just added a new user, "scarleo", and it turns out I'm unable to send and receive emails with this account. If I log in (SSH) with scarleo I can use bash mail to send emails, works fine. scarleo can also receive emails from webadmin and can connect to Dovecot to read emails. However scarleo cannot send or receive to or from anyone outside the server from my mail client. I have restarted both Postfix and Dovecot after adding the user. Do I have to do something else to make this account work like webadmin's?

I'm not sure if this is best done in Perl or Bash. I'm thinking surely someone else has created something close to what I'm looking for. The results of the script would be that someone would kick off "linux_hosts.sh" r whatever you want to call it, then a top "folder" of options (with hosts contained within each of these top menu choices), then, based on which number corresponds to that top level, they're presented with a set of linux hosts that are relevant to that top level name. Example:
$ linux_hosts.sh
1. VMware hosts 4. Private Domain
2. ESX servers 5. Red Hat boxes

Under high UDP traffic condition, we find we cannot receive UDP packet (can be captured by tcpdump) from socket neither use bare "recvfrom" nor "select recvfrom " pair. Is there any similar problem reported from user?
Any tunning or socket establish option can help?
Or is there any improvement available from the latest version?
our using linux version is CentOS 5.5

I am trying to set up sendmail on my intranet (home) webserver, so that it will send mail via my ISP. I have searched for similar threads including this thread, but the responses do not seem to have solved the problem. All I want is to call sendmail from Perl, to post myself the responses to a test form I am building, using my normal internet mail address. I do not want to receive or relay mail from any host except the web server itself (127.0.0.1).
I have edited sendmail.mc to define SMART_HOST as my isp's mail server and MASQUERADE_AS to be my local network name (which is not a registered domain - it is just the name I have given my home intranet). I have run make and built a fresh sendmail.cf, then restarted sendmail.
Using my form, I am able to submit the message to sendmail, but after 40 seconds the mail log shows a message

I have a server with a domain running and im trying to resolve the mail server but i can't see where to start. I use OpenSuse 11.2. Basically, for starting, i want postfix to send incoming emails to a php script or perl. for outgoing emails i guess that i could use php mail function and i will see what else to have. I configured the dns. I do a dig.mydomain.tld MX and i get the following:
mydomain.tld3600INMX0 mail.mydomain.tld
mail.mydomain.tld 3600INAmyNumericalIp
So now my system is receiving MX content but i dont know what to do.

i basically had this system installed for our mail system.The setup is as follows:
1. Operating system installed is Debian ver. 5.0.3
2. Roundcube is installed as a webmail(if its right for me to say that)
3. The server is hosted right here at our offices
4.The server uses relay system to send mail i.e. relays all our mails to our ISP
That all i can say about the configurations becuase thats as much as i understand it.The problem now is that we are not able to send or recieve emails from both internal and external.I tried to send mail to a collegue in the office who is on our local LAN,Roundcube says sent successfully but the person does not recieve the mail.i tried to send to my yahoo address but nothing.I dont know where these mails have been trapped.

I have 2 clients (one IP 200.x.y.52 and another 200.x.y.47) in ADSL conection and a same gateway (200.x.y.1).
When the server send an email, the error "No route to host" appear. I used TELNET 200.x.y.52 25 (110 soo) and the error occurr in both servers and both directions. The Firewall was disabled .

I am managing a Fedora dedicated server with Plesk 9 and just recently moved the email for one of the domains on the server to Google Apps for business. Unfortunately, I cannot get email messages from the website forms to deliver to addresses on this domain. For anyone familiar with Plesk, I have disabled mail in the hosting settings by un-checking the "Activate mail service on domain" checkbox and there are no accounts in the domain. (Other readings have indicated that this should be enough to allow mail to be directed to the appropriate server). My MX records correctly point to the google apps mail server.
I'm quite comfortable with command line, but I know almost nothing about the sendmail program or its alternatives and my attempts at researching how to set up this relay has been futile. I'm pretty sure I'm using sendmail and not qmail or anything else from what the red-hat style "alternatives" symlinks point to. I've also checked the /etc/mail/access, domaintable, mailertable, sendmail.cf, virtusertable, local-host-names, sendmail.cf, and submit.cf and most of these files are empty (except the .cf files), and the sendmail.cf and submit.cf make no reference to the domain in question.
Here is the output from a sendmail test that was was not received. (Private data omitted of course).

I got a problem with my CentOS server. Somebody told me OpenVPN Requires different changes inside my firewall settings. That could be the problem why openvpn wont load..I receive this error on my CentOS panel when im trying to connect into the centos openvpn (with my winxp pc):

As i am posting in this forum you might already have guessed that I am a total linux noob, but I am a pretty faster learner. I know a few basic things but I feel like I am stuck with my problem.I want to send the Magic packet (wake on LAN) from my linux machine to another, but I am unsure how to approach this. I have google�ed my ass off but I am none the wiser. I found a few forums posts and programs that can do the trick and guides in how to use the programs but I have no idea how to install them.You have to know that my linux machine is a NAS server and has therefore only Konsole access (no GUI). on ubuntu 8.04 and evolution has stopped sending or receiving when click send/receive button. it flashes something but too fast to read. i have renamed mail folder but no go. i have checked settings but no go. i have reinstalled evoulution from synaptic but no go.
i think i have a corrupt file or something like that.
