Design, debug and test a C program that uses Gray Code for decoding information stored in a binary file. Gray Code G(A)of any value A can be easily produced from unsigned binary B(A) using the expression: G(A) = B(A) ^ ( B(A) >> 1 ) (1) The formula may be used to generate coding tables. For example for 4-bit codes:

If the first option is selected, your program shall prompt the user to enter the file name and open the specified file. In this assignment you can presume that the file size is always limited to 64 bytes. If the file is not found, the program shall display a message: File not found and display the menu, so the user can enter file name correctly or exit the program.

I have a binary file, which I need to process using my C++ application. Only thing I know is first chunk of the file is long, second chunk is int, third chunk is char etc... The binary file actually contains something like below. (which is represented in hex base).
D7 07 00 00 00 00 00 00 37 18 00 00 DE 07 ............ so on.....
I need to procees the file in the following way.
* I know the first data segment in my file is long. So it takes 4 bytes.
* so I need to read the first four bytes. That is D7 07 00 00.
* Then I need to reverse this as 00 00 07 D7.
* Finally I need to get the decimal value of above hexa decimal line. ( 00 00 07 D7)
* i.e. 00 00 07 D7 (in hex) = 7D7 (in hex- after removing leading 0 s) = 2007 (in decimal)
Like wise I need to process the whole file.

I am splitting a file based on the values read from an input file. The below one is the script.
1)How do I add the header which is present in the original file to the new split files created?(For eg. pharmacyf conatins header as table column names. The new files created (ODS.POS.$pharmacyid.$tablename.$CURRENT_DATE.dat) are without the header).
2) Also the script is creating 0 byte files for the pharmacyids which are not available in the intial file? Can this be avoided?

Write a program that requires the user to input the name of a file as an argument. If the user fails to include one argument it should make use of a thread that handles a signal. The signal handler should tells the user Incorrect number of arguments and then calls the terminate signal on the process.
If the numbers of arguments are correct then the program should allocate memory space to the file (5MB) and create a child process that requests the user for a character that it should send to the parent. The child should keep request for data until the user keys in the character O. During each request it should pause for 10 seconds, send the character to the parent and then requesting again for another character.
The parent should get the character from the child. Do not make the parent wait for the child to finish requesting for data. Make use of pipes to facilitate communication between the parent and the child. A second child should be created to read and display data from the file. Make use of any appropriate Inter Process Communication technique to ensure that the second child and the parent do not access the file simultaneously (Mutual exclusion).

I'm writing a program which now accepts user input:

read gregyr gregmo gregdy greghr gregmn gregsc This lets the user input a date and time, such as 2011 06 21 15 12 45, and have each number assigned to their corresponding variable. Later in the program, these variables are put into an equation, and then the terminal spits out the answer. Now I have to have the program read all of the lines from a text file, which is in this format, assign the variables.

I have a script which checks on my jobs that run on some cluster.The script, "script.sh", takes as an input the job-id for the job to be checked. Sometimes I have 100s of jobs and I want to check them all (for successful completion.) I could put these job-ids into a text file, "job-id.txt", each id in its own line.For each job-id, the script would ask me few questions (with a yes or no answers) to see if I want to do some other checks for each job-id.I want to know how may I direct my job-ids from this text file into the script one job-id at a time.

Browsing some websites I've found a code for online form where a user provides name, number, etc. Everything is created in html/javascript. I'm just wondering whether it's possible to collect this input and present it in a database form so that I'd be able to see who's provided data and all the details they entered.Actually, it doesn't have to be a proper database (it would probably require php/mysql). I need a script that dose the following checks if files exists by read input from a file then compares them to the files listed in the directory if they don’t exists the script would report back which file dose not exists. I also need to format the output so that files are grouped in different groups, group A, B, and C and etc based on file name. I would like the output of that do not exists files to be sorted based on second number in the file name than group according. I understand some of the basics of bash scripting something along of the lines of a loop and if statements might do the trick. Below is what I have so far. I don’t car so much about the script reporting back the file exists I prefer to only know if the file is missing and is less than 3 days old. Problem is if a file dose not exists in the reports file the test compares against the wrong file.

in bash scripting...say I want to take the input from a user via a question...I would do this:

I have been mucking around with sed to find the tmpfs partition in /etc/fstab and add the partition size attribute (this is to use the onboard RAM as a volatile partition)...but am not having any luck...
The portion of /etc/fstab that uses /dev/shm for the tmpfs partition is:
tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
So, if a user says "24" GB to the answer (from above), how do I get it to automatically add that value to the tmpfs partition line in /etc/fstab? So it would look like:
tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs size=24g,defaults 0 0
I understand that I would also have to come up with a way to put "size=XXg", which I could do with a copied over generic file before this action...then the script would have to find "XX" and replace it with the user's figure...

I am trying to finish up my intro C++ course, and have to make a Roman numeral to Arabic converter. I had no trouble with the reverse (Arabic to Roman), but I must be missing something on this one. I tried a few variations, and either got 0 or an insanely high number as the output.

I have been dredging the internet trying to find the answer to this and frankly, my brain hurts. On some e-mails that show up fine in Windows are showing up with hexadecimal characters in Evolution. I assume that it is because of the encoding because I have downloaded every font in the book, it seems, including the microsoft tty fonts. I only can find how to change the encoding on Evolution and aside from foreign (I'm in US) encodings I just have the unicode 7 & 8 which don't help. I'm thinking there is some sort of proprietary Microsoft encoding that I need.

I have a whole bunch of songs in WMA and I would really like them in MP3. I paid for the songs and my husband really doesn't like downloading so that's not a option. I would really be upset if there were no way to get these back. I've tried to read a couple of sites but I don't understand any of it. Some people said to get Audacity but that program doesn't even open WMA...not even to import.

I am curious if perhaps I am doing something wrong extracting pages from a pdf doc using pdftk and creating a new file. I am only extracting the odd pages from the file and outputting them to a new file that is now only 20 pages instead of the input's 40 pages, yet the new output file is still 1.4Mb in size, the same as the original.
It seems strange to extract only half the pages of a large document and end up with a result that is the same size. how to streamline the resulting pdf's using pdftk?
BTW this is the command I am using, in case perhaps I am missing an option to optimize file size or something:

When I try to copy PDF files from one folder to another folder, it give me this error: "Error while copying "2004-SNUG-Europe-paper_...log_DPI_with_SystemC.pdf". There was an error copying the file into /media/CCDCE66BDCE64F70/Backup Master/Heterogeneous_cosimulation/Documentation" "Error splicing file: Input/output error" What is the reason of this error and how can this be fixed?

I have a 7.2 GB file (VMWare virtual machine file) that I am trying to copy from its original location to the another folder OR to external hard drive...each time I try to do this, I always get the following error after the copying process reach 'exactly' 1.4 GB

And I have to either Cancel or Skip
I've tried to split the files to smaller pieces but the idea didn't work as I still get the same error whenever I try to compress/ split or do any operation with this file. how I can copy this file?

I've done a little program, it's the snake game. I use an X window to show the snake and all that but the input is taken from the terminal. That means that what I have to do to play the game is open it with the terminal and then the game opens but then I have to go to the terminal again to move the snake. if I open the game from the GUI I can't do anything because it doesn't take my directions. What do I have to do in order to get the program to have a connection with my keyboard? I use getchar() to get the input, maybe there is something else?

I'm trying to make a program to simulate a parabolic movement, so i've added 2 entries, one for the initial velocity and other for the angle, anyway you probably don't care about that xD what i want is to take the number entered in the entry and put it in a variable to do the math, and then show everything in a dialog or something. how do i do that?

right now i am writing bash script for simple everyday todo tasks.script consisit of two files, fisrt is just script (which can delete/append /clear) and second one is todolist.txt which stores my notes.I am litlebit confused about sed!!for example, If my todolist.txt have these lines:
- Writing my Homework
- take my girlfriend to launch
- Take a break
How can sed take my input $@ and delete all line with name "Homework"..i trayed with many sed combination like:
