I have attempted to install Mplayer on my recently upgraded opensuse. It states nothing provides libjpeg.so.62(LIBJPEG_6.2)(64Bit) needed by Mplayer-1.0rc4_r33030-1.pm.1.3.x86_64 With the options of Do not install Mplayer-1.0rc4_r33030-1.pm.1.3.x86_64 OR Break MPlayer by ignoring some of its dependencies. I do not want either of these options, rather I want to just have the option to install it.
I am using redhat Linux 5.4 Server Edition. I am not able to to install Mplayer or VLC Player in various formats (.rpm , tgz). Kindly give me a guidance to Solve this ....

How can I install Mplayer for openSUSE 11.3 x86_64 The 1 click install from packman is not working and the download install is asking for libopencore-amrnb.so.0 but llibopencore-amrnb0(x86-64) = 0.1.2-1.pm.3.1 is installed
I can't install gnome-mplayer on my openSUSE 11.2 I used the " 1-click insall" I also tried manully installation, got below errors # rpm -ivh gnome-mplayer-0.9.9.2-9.1.x86_64.rpm gnome-mplayer-lang-0.9.9.2-9.1.noarch.rpm error: Failed dependencies: MPlayer is needed by gnome-mplayer-0.9.9.2-9.1.x86_64 libmusicbrainz3.so.6()(64bit) is needed by gnome-mplayer-0.9.9.2-9.1.x86_64
I recently setup my X to work well with the newer version of the ATI driver for my Radeon 3650, however no matter what I do, I can't get mplayer to scale to fullscreen. Something that xine has no trouble with. I have tried the x11, sdl, xover, gl, and gl2 outputs which all make no difference. Am I missing an output, or is something not working as it should? In particular, why is xine fine, while mplayer stumbles? As an unrelated question, it is possible to set mplayer to skip to a next file in a directory? From what I could tell, it does not seem to have this functionality built in.
I recently updated my Squeeze installation to testing and since then I've been unable to use VDPAU with SMPlayer and MPLayer. When VDPAU is enabled every video file gives the same error (see log at the end; don't mind the extra channel entries, they're for converting AAC to AC3 on-the-fly). Before this everything worked as it should.
Cannot watch second, third, etc, streams from a server-side playlist (ie, .wsx on windows media service). I have tried mplayer, vlc, totem, and xine. Xine totally fails and the other three play only the first stream as described. You can verify it works in wine by using Windows Mediaplayer v10 (`winetricks wmp10` on a clean wine prefix).
The particular example I am dealing with is not an ideal test-case as they dynamically mangle the stream's URL to prevent leeching. You can test it by either visiting $URL (below) or from command line:
My research has brought up only two or three random posts citing a similar problem. All seem to be quite old (circa 2008). The most relevant is:
[URL]
I have attached the output from:
Code:
mplayer -msglevel all=9 "$MMS" &>mplayer.output
You will see that mplayer is seeing an EOF and terminating (perhaps the server is too slow so mplayer's timeout triggers EOF condition?). I tired fooling with -vid/-aid flags to no avail.
This should be a very elementary question. I have a URL like http://SERVERNAME/file.wmv. When I enter it in "Open Location" in gnome-mpLayer it connects to the server and plays the stream. But when I run
mplayer "URL"
in the terminal I get a crazy endless loop of
Playing URL. Resolving SERVERNAME for AF_INET6... Couldn't resolve name for AF_INET6: SERVERNAME Resolving SERVERNAME for AF_INET... Connecting to server SERVERNAME[xxx.xx.xxx.xx]: 80... Cache size set to 320 KBytes
I think my usage of mplayer in the terminal is correct, since I can watch other URL's.It's only this specific one that doesn't work (I am not authorized to write the URL because they want it to be private. So my question is: Does anyone know why I get this loop? Or is it possible to see how mplayer is called by gnome-mplayer and what output messages it generates?I use gnome-mplayer 0.9.9.2 and mplayer 1.0rc4-4.4.5 on Ubuntu 10.10.
I just reinstalled my OpenSuse 11.3 with the GNOME desktop. As soon as I was done installing and I was on a fresh desktop, I installed the Yast updates that were available, rebooted, and now I can't login to any of my User accounts. Whenever I try to login, it tells me that it is "Unable to Open Session".o any of you know how I can fix this without having to reinstall all over again
Im not able to install the package mesa-32bit from this repository: Index of /repositories/X11:/XOrg/openSUSE_11.3. It tells me to make a huge change on architecture on many packages, plus downgrading mesa to 7.8.2 from 7.9 !
I'm having an issue when I'm trying to install SuSE linux onto my desktop.I go through all the steps and everything looks okay, but when it starts to install the packages, I get an error message that basically says:kernel.desktop - unable to install, exit status 127.I have a ATI X1950 video card in the computer, as well as a AMD 64 FX CPU in the system.
on Suse linux 11.2 while trying to install sun webserver 7 I was unable to install it in graphical mode, is the any package that needs to be installed in order to do that
I'm trying to install my first linux system. I would like to use it as a server on an old 386 PC.For the internet connexion (ADSL) i use a Speedtouch USB modem. When i list the peripheral installed on the system, i see the modem with apparently a driver, but the device is listed as non classified. For me it should be directed to DSL0 but..According to some tuto i declared a DSL connection, ppp with ATM (VPI8 and VCI35).I launch the connection with pinternet but the connection failed.
I went to install VLC and mplayer in 64-bit openSUSE 11.3 and neither of them were in the repositories. I have both the oss and non-oss repositories enabled but still can't find them. I am running KDE 4.4.4. Are these nonexistant for this version or am I just missing something?
I've successfully downloaded openSUSE-11.4(64-bit) ISO image from the openSUSE site, and burned the ISO image successfully into 2 DVD's separately using Nero(ver.7) But I am unable to boot up from the DVD. When I pop in the DVD into my DVD-writer,a few seconds go by with the blinking cursor, and eventually boots off to Windows. The BIOS setting of my machine has been enabled to boot from CD/DVD first before HDD. No error messages are shown while I try to boot. The burned ISO image file is O.K. as it gets successfully verified after writing on the DVD. The image file {openSUSE-11.4 (64-bit)}being 4.29GB in size
I am trying to setup HA for mySQL on SLES11sp1 with DRBD and heartbeat. I found the HAE of SLES seems has DRBD and SLES10 also have a older version. But after I installed SLES11 and also one SLES11sp1,both don't have DRBD. I downloaded a DRBD RPM for opensuse,it gave me glic error "need glic.so.64 bit",etc. When I tried to install those GLBIC stuff ,also errors for dependencies again. I tried to use the source
I have done a big big mistake (I could beat myself up for that) with my netbook and now I am sitting here, not getting openSUSE installed on it.
I wanted to try another netbook linux and installed (more by accident than intentionally) Easy Peasy Linux. This system is not bad, but cannot work with the wireless adapter in my netbook. However, I then wanted to install openSUSE 11.4 again, which ran fine on the netbook. But the install always gets stuck in different stages and I donīt know why.
Sometimes a failure message comes up: "filesystem is read only, rebooting in 120 seconds", but I am not really sure if this is for the harddrive or the usb stick. In other occasions, the bootprocess until install gets stuck at "starting KDM". Nothing happens then... thats it.
I already have reformatted the usb stick and copied the openSUSE Live CD via Imagewriter on it again... no success.
So now I am really confused, because I donīt know if there is something wrong with the harddrive? Or is it the stick itself? How can I find this out?
If it is the harddrive, how can I at least refomat it? Remember: no CD or DVD drive, just USB stick...
How can I find out if the image on the stick is ok? I already tested the install media and it said: "checksum ok"
I have an mkv file that I'm trying to player with mplayer, but no video is showing up. Mplayer was installed using apt-get install mplayer since ./configure when I try to build mplayer gives me a bunch of garbage:
Current branch master is up to date. Detected operating system: Linux Detected host architecture: i386
[code]....
But, after installing mplayer using apt-get, I can't get any video for the file I'm trying to play. I've tried copying the files from "all-20110131.tar.bz2" to /usr/local/lib/codecs but I still don't even get a box for video. Everything works fine using the built in movie player--even the subtitles are shown correctly.
I'm trying to install mplayer(=DVD-player) on my system. In fact it means compiling from source code. But I don't know how to compile from source code (Don't know the exact commands).
I've noticed the Packman mplayer's ffvorbis doesn't seem to be working on 11.2 (x86)-any vorbis seems to be decoded as very quiet noise that roughly matches the sound that ought to be made. Audio output (-ao) doesn't make any difference, and I've the same problem on three different machines. Xine, vlc, ffplay, etc. all work, as does -afm tremor (the reference decoder) with mplayer. The verbose output from mplayer seems to be the same between these systems and an older 11.0 system with a not-very-recently-upgraded version of mplayer. Unfortunately, packman does not keep old versions of packages, and compiling mplayer is somewhat of a chore, so it is not immediately easy to test an old version of MPlayer on 11.2 for me.
I'm using the samples from Vorbis.com: Music to test with, so I assume there is nothing peculiar about the files.
Is anyone successfully using current (1.0rc2_r29796) Packman MPlayer to play either vorbis .oggs or video with vorbis audio on 11.2? If so, was it a fresh install or an upgrade system? Architecture? Etc.-I've run out of machines to easily test on, and it doesn't work on any of them.
I realize that this is better-addressed to the Packman mailing list, but very few users seem to read it, and for whatever reason, the packagers never seem to have any problems with their own packages (even when they are clearly broken for many others); so I thought I would give it a try here first.
