Trying to install kuickshow from KDE-Extra repos. liblmlib.so.1 called out as missing. Where is it? Is there a way I was "supposed" to know where it was without having to post here?

View 4 Replies View Relatedthere are 2 related to 11.3: openSUSE_11.3/ and openSUSE_11.3_KDE_Distro_Factory/ Index of /repositories/KDE:/Extra they are not listed as official kde4 repos here KDE repositories - openSUSE, but they are in the same directory structure on the build service so it would assume they are official (what ever official means) They have rpm's I didn't see in community and playground (at least for 11.3) such as audex and clementine I would guess that they are for the stable and factory versions of KDE4 but then shouldn't there be a 3rd for unstable if this was the case? Or do they refer to the distro, 11.3 stable and 11.3 factory

I sometimes need lxsplit to join splitted files.
In Ubuntu I installed lxsplit from the repos but I can't find it in the Add/Remove software, here in opensuse.
Do I need to enable any additional repos to install lxsplit?
I am trying to build the java gnome gtk+ bindings on open suse and ran into a snag. the libcairo2-dev package is not apart of pensuse - how ever it is apart of ubuntu and the debian launchpad. can i install other distros repos to solve this issue? actually no i cant. how to install this package? zypper install libcairo2-dev comes back as not found.

View 9 Replies View RelatedAs I have 15 repo's enabled in Yast it a bit tedious changing them in the package manager, is there an easier way to bulk change them? Something like doing a kfilereplace on the /etc/zypp/repos.d/ folder and changing all occurances of 11.3 to 11.4 (in all *repo, which are all the files in the folder). Will this work?

It says it's just added dependencies, but I hardly think the Russian translation for the open office help files counts as a dependency for WINE. This also happens when I try to install the amarok mp3 codec.

How can I specify the font and font size it uses ? Presumably it is doing a bad job of detecting the monitor (its a Samsung SyncMaster P2250). Which config file contains a suitable entry, and what is the entry ?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently installed openSUSE 11.4 on another hard disk of my 11.3 machine. I have another drive in my computer that is used solely for extra storage. Before installing 11.4 I could boot my computer with or without the drive installed, but now if I try to boot without it I get Error 17 from GRUB. I don't understand this as there is nothing on that drive that should be needed by boot and I can find nothing in the GRUB configuration that references the drive.I am getting ready to clear the whole system for a fresh install anyways, but it would be nice to know for future knowledge what is causing it.

I have upgraded successfully to 11.4 I note that with zyper repo ls I have 11.4 and 11.3 repos. The 11.3 are all disabled. Do they need to stay in 11.4 or can I remove and delete them - will probably do this via YAST?

I intended to upgrade to fedora 15 but my old laptop only has 512mb so I have to stick with 14 (which is good anyway). I did this at the command line on the way the upgrade:
1)yum -y update

3)rpm -Uvh http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pu...5-1.noarch.rpm http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pu...5-1.noarch.rpm
When I realised my error, I removed rpmfusion-free & nonfree, xfce-4.8.repo & virtualbox.repo which I had installed after installing 14.
Now I am stuck with the fedora 15 repos in /etc/yum.repos.d/: fedora-rawhide-repo, fedora-repo, fedora-updates.repo & fedora-updates-testing-repo

Does anyone know how to set openSUSE up to use additional XDG icons? I downloaded a pack of icons from here that I'd quite like to use, but they're not showing up at the moment. I'm assuming that they're already named with the correct convention and I've put them in the right folder (.icons/TangoExtra/scalable/places - and the theme is being used) but I don't know if they're getting ignored because openSUSE isn't set to check those conventions.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I start yast2 it seems to hang at around 50% (the lower progress bar) while refreshing the repositories. It can sit there for a minute before moving on. Once yast2 has started and I add / remove repos the refresh happens very quickly. It's only when starting that it gets stuck.
This is something that really only started after I upgraded to 11.2. In 11.1 the progress bar would move cross quickly and you could see the various repos flashing up above the progress bar. I didn't bother with it too much but it's starting to annoy me now. It also sometimes just hangs there permanently and I have to abort it.
I've tried unconditionally updating the yast stuff but it hasn't helped. My network connection is fine and I have now problems or speed issues with browsing the repo urls from a browser.
I figure it is better to ask something silly rather than do something silly.
How do i copy the OpenSuse 11.1 repos to a local disk to get faster access?
If i do copy them will i need to copy the oss and non-oss repos again? (I know i will for update and maybe for others)

View 1 Replies View RelatedHaving assorted problems accessing v11.3 update repositories. The issue appears to be either with IPv6 or my ancient 2Wire 1000SW router.
Last week, I replaced Ubuntu with openSUSE on this Dell laptop. When I couldn't access repositories initially, I turned off IPv6 in YaST, with no luck. Turning off IPv6 in Firefox did allow me to see opensuse.org and other otherwise unavailable sites.
I edited my primary/default repo list in YaST with IP addresses replacing DNS names with great success -- except for the non-OSS repo, which YaST couldn't find. Anyway, I had a successful update!
Now adding repos to the default set is the problem. When going to Add > Community Repositories, I get the "Unable to download list of repositories or no repositories defined" message. Trying to add Packman.unixheads.com either with named URL or with IP address doesn't work either (it was curious that when using the IP address, YaST still says it can't find Packman.unixheads.com).
When I read that Packman was converting all its servers to IPv6, just for grins I went back to YaST and Enabled IPv6 again. After a reboot, I tried adding Packman again. No luck, but suddenly editing the default openSUSE non-oss repo and entering the IP address WORKED!
One more data point: I tried using a few 1-click installations from the collection at opensuse-community.org. Most failed, but for some reason, I could add the NVIDIA repository!
While I think the simple solution is probably replacing the router I've had since 2004, I'd like to avoid that particular expense right now. I'll note that I never had a problem accessing (K)Ubuntu repositories.
I'm wondering if there's a zypper or YaST config file I can edit that might allow access to the Community Repo list (though the Packman experience is somewhat discouraging in that regard). Is there something weird going on with MirrorBrain too? Figuring out how to handle IPv6 might be relevant here too.
I am running Lucid in my Apple iBook of course powerpc architecture and due to firefox's cruel treat on my CPU, I want to install opera which I am told is a bit lightweiht and friendly on CPU.I tried sudo "apt-get install opera" and I got "the package opera does not have an installation candidate .... and so forth....", I visited the opera for powerpc download page and I couldn't see Ubuntu among the listed OS'ses. I am not sure what to do? Is their an option coz I love firefox but my iBook wont stand it without the 100% CPU usage.

The keyboard has some extra media and application launching keys which I try to assign in systemsettings>Input Actions. I believe the application is called khotkeys, however I'm not sure. Four different cases occurred as follows: The keys are recognized and can be assigned a command to run. When settings are saved the specified application launches. Examples of keys that works:

I'm using openSUSE 11.3 with KDE 4.5.4. The updater applet works fine for me, however I think it only checks for updates from the update repo. I tried to modify this behaviour by right clicking the icon and checking "show available updates, when the backend provides it(for experts)" (translation from polish so it may not be 100% accurate) but the behaviour is the same, it only prompts me when there are updates available in the update repo but I would like it also to prompt me when there are updates available in the packman and KDE stable repo. Is it possible to force the updater applet to do this ?

The commands
apt-get install ubuntu-desktop
apt-get install kubuntu-desktop
are not the solution, because they install all distro packages, and I want only the base of desktops KDE and Gnome.
I can install LXDE with
apt-get install lxde
instead of
apt-get install lubuntu-desktop
I can install Xfce with
apt-get install xfce4
instead of
apt-get install xubuntu-desktop
However, I could not do the same with KDE and Gnome.
