I've just updated a server from openSuse 11.0 to 11.4 using zypper dup. The server is running apache2 with mod_python and there is a conflict with the versions of expat being used, this is causing segmentation faults in Apache and the python web pages do not load. The problem is detailed here:ModPython/Articles/ExpatCausingApacheCrash - Graham's Project WikiApache is using expat 2.0.1, and python is using 2.0.0.

OpenSUSE Install :: Yast2 - Bash Apache Command Not Found

May 3, 2011

I ssh to a remote server which is running in SUSE. And I want to install apache2.0 there. Then I used yast2 to install it. But after installing it, I go to the terminal and type" apache -version" to check if apache is installed there. And it said "-bash: apache: command not found". I don't if I haven't successfully installed it, or I have installed it but just haven't put it into PATH yet. So, my problem is that can anyone tell how to check if I have installed it? If I have installed it, then what is the path of the directory it locates? And if I haven't probably installed it, then can you tell me the how I can installed it? And I am asked to install apache mod_wsgi as well.

OpenSUSE :: Apache PHP Performance Limit ?

Apr 21, 2010

I'd like to find out if my system can take a certain load, number of PHP requests per unit of time. How would one go about this?

I'm about to make a change on Digital Camera Buying Guide, Photography Articles and Reviews | NeoCamera.com that would make all pages pass through PHP with personalized information which will prevent me from setting the cache-validity any significant amount of time (currently it is 1 hour). To handle the current load it needs to process 500 PHP requests per minute but I would like to make sure my system can handle twice the load. It is a Phenom II X4 with 8GB RAM running OpenSUSE 11.2.

OpenSUSE :: How Clear Apache Cache ?

Sep 1, 2010

I'm getting a weird situation where even though I updated an image in a folder for a website in apache, it's still showing the old image. And yes, I checked it in multiple browsers and on diff. computers. (Apache is in a virtualbox OS)

Here's what I've done:
1. Checked it in firefox on the host, cleared cache, reloaded
2. Restarted apache
3. Checked it in konqueror for first time, still showing old version
4. Checked it in the actual file folder and it's correct there
5. Checked it for first time on virtual machine's OS in its firefox, and it shows the wrong/old image

OpenSUSE :: Php Running As Cgi Script In Apache 11.3?

Sep 12, 2010

I am trying to run php as cgi script with apache and opensuse 11.3. I disabled the mod_php and installed mod_fcgid, and php-fastcgi, as per the instructions here. I have been trying to achieve this, but, somehow it is now working. I can see the page if i have an index.html, but if i have index.php, it downloads it as a file. I really tried to set this thing up for more than 12 hrs now. I am soo frustated.

my /etc/apache2/vhosts.d/shekhar.conf
my /srv/www/wrapper/shekhar/php5
my /etc/apache2/conf.d/mod_fcgid.conf (I uncommented the lines inside the <FilesMatch > Tag., it gave me same result, even after uncommenting the tag.)
my /etc/apache2/httpd.conf

OpenSUSE :: Apache Redirect - Handlers ?

Nov 5, 2010

The previous version of one of my websites was static and so the URLs looked like this: [url]

A few months ago I re-did the site to be completely dynamic. There are no individual pages for product reviews, just one which pulls the right data from a database. So now, my URLs look like this: [url]

Some fellow ex-googler who specialize in SEO told me that the previous URL scheme was better for search engines because it had the product name. Of course, I have set up redirects from the old naming scheme to the new one but what I would like to do is have 'review.php' handle the request for 'review_XXXX_YYYY.php' without actually doing a redirect... and do this for past and future products. I don't want to have to actually create all these 'review_XXXX_YYYY.php', there would be hundreds, just make it seem like they exist to visitors.

I can compile apache 2.2.15 just fine, but whenever I try to compile php 5.3.2 into my server, the first two steps work just fine but when I get to the make install part it shows the libphp5.so and it just stays there and I have to cancel the install because it won't finish.

OpenSUSE :: Setup PHP / Apache / MySQL For Development?

Mar 16, 2011

On Windows and Mac it's as simple as downloading some WAMP and XAMP stack and clicking "install".

On OpenSUSE I'm trying to do it myself. I went into YaST and installed the "Web and LAMP Server" pattern.

Then I edited the default-server.conf file to point towards my website by changing the DocumentRoot and <Directory "blah blah"> lines.

Then I tried to start apache, but got the following error:

Code:
# apache2ctl restart
httpd2: Syntax error on line 188 of /etc/apache2/httpd.conf: Could not open configuration file /etc/apache2/sysconfig.d/include.conf: No such file or directory
So I just went into httpd.conf and commented out that line.
