Im having some trouble getting sensors to work on kernel 2.6.33.

I know k10temp driver is now included on kernel 2.6.33 so i dont know what to do.
I just recently changed my motherboard, and now the command "sensors" shows "no sensors detected" I ran sensors-detect but still i get no sensors detected.
View 9 Replies View RelatedHaving installed the 2.6.32 backport for Lenny, I have suddenly noticed that my Gkrellm doesn't display CPU and MB temperature anymore. Also, the smart sensors are inaccessible. Smartctl cannot access the readings even when run manually in a root terminal. I tried reinstalling lm-sensors and running sensor-detect again but it didn't help. What else needs to be updated to let the backported kernel see the hardware sensors?

Went through it more than twice and a couple of restarts. I just can't figure out what's wrong.When I run "sensors" nothing is found. I ran the sensors configuration and it only found one device to add to /etc/modules. Please see the trace below, I would be very grateful if you can help me find the fix for this! I would like to use lm-sensors with my new PC.With my old one lm-sensors showed all sensors of CPU, GPU, wattage and Fan.With the new AMD64 (kernel 2.6.32-5 on Debian Squeeze) I get only the temperature of the GPU and the HDD.The only found sensor is "Fintek F71882FG/F71883FG Super IO Sensors"No embedded "AMD [...] thermal sensors" found in sensors-detect How can I fix it?sensors-detect

just downloaded gkrellm and I go to set the temperature sensors and I get "No Sensors Detected" now I've never dealt with something of this nature before so can anyone tell me where I might begin with this one?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have just recently installed opensuse 11.3 on my computer. I have switched from Ubuntu and have been trying to get things configured similar to what it was. One problem I have encountered is with installing sensors and k10temp, the module needed to monitor my CPU temp. within Linux. I have an AMD sempron and a biostar mcp6p m2+ motherboard. I have installed package "sensors" and have run the sensors-detect and it went through and found k10temp that I would need to load within the kernel for this to work properly. I had this working in Ubuntu, but not sure how to do it in openSuse. I have tried compiling the k10temp source, running modprobe k10temp and received no output, and looked around the conf files, but not sure how to go about doing it?

I've tried to install a package (cifs-mount) and I didn't realized that my kernel was downgrading. I use OpenSuse 11.3 (kernel 2.6.34 if I remember) and installing package for mounting cifs (mout.cifs, umount.cifs), now my kerenl is 2.6.31. The video card is Nvidia and now doesn't work. Only can access console. How can I restore kernel 2.6.34 and make my X work?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading kernel, system (AMD 780G)refuses to start in graphic mode. Computer services running fine, but there's nothing or some trash on screen when X started. And no way how to get out except restarting or shutting down from remote computer.
Reinstalling, unistalling ATI driver doesn't help. Also manipulations with xorg.conf (install, safe etc previous file versions)doesn't help.
Sax2 detects videocard correctly, but result is same regardless which resolution@Hz is specified.

there is an issue with the way the Linux Kernel addresses memory by default and the graphic drivers for my Asus G1Sn. I have a patch that I had compiled against a custom kernel for 2.6.27.xx how ever it does not work with the latest kernel in Fedora 11. It is beyond me to rewrite the patch to work with a different kernel.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWith the recent upgrade kernel, my ATI driver can no longer work. After upgrading to the new kernel, upon reboot I would get stuck at the "checking battery status" and can't boot into kubuntu.
I'm running Kubuntu 10.10 64 on intel i5 with radeon hd 4870.
So I thought I messed something up since I was fooling around with conky script the day before. I did a clean install of kubuntu 10.10 64 and reset all my settings and my files. At this point, everything works smoothly and I can reboot multiple times without a problem.
I proceeded to install the Radeon catalyst driver following the documentation, which worked perfectly for me on the previous kernel. After rebooting, I can no longer get pass the "checking battery state" black screen. I had to boot into safe book, uninstall all fglrx and also delete xorg.conf to be able to boot back in normally.
I'm fairly new to linux Red Hat. We are running Rhel 3 on our VM's. We ran into a issue, (Bug 121801 - athlon-smp kernel does not support >4GB of RAM. what the stepos are to upgrade the existing kernel to the new i686? .

I am an experienced Linux admin and have been using SuSE for many years. My development machine has had every version of SuSE since '02 and although it is a little old, is in good working order. (AMD
2400, 2 gig RAM, 160 Gig IDE disks - SuSE on disk 2) (OpenSuSE 11.1 with the latest kernel works perfectly. This install is on a spare HDD prior to doing a full install on my usual HDD.)
When I try to install SuSE 11.2 from DVD, the load kernel operation hangs at 97% (using both normal and safe kernel), however, I can install from live CD without any problem. I have tried the same DVD on a few "older" machines and had the same problem. I initially thought it was the actual DVD but re-burning has the same problem. I have also tried another DVD writer - same problem.
I installed openSUSE 11.2 on virtualbox. My host is windows 7. I tried to install the guest additions, but i get an error saying

A recent kernel update seems to have misplaced the Kernel Headers. VMWare needs these headers and cannot find them. Attempting to run VMWARE gets the message: Kernel headers for version 2.6.31.12-0.2-desktop were not found.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a system running openSUSE 11.2 with Desktop and XEN kernel, as well as Windows 7 (not by choice though...). I have noticed a strange time issue, with Windows 7 and the desktop kernel the time is correct (like for example now: 1:32 PM) but in the XEN kernel it is ahead several hours (6:32 PM). If it was an issue between openSUSE and windows then I would think that it is a problem with the system clock but I don't know what would cause a time issue between kernels like that.

I've found some past threads like this link and this other link, and some other google info, which suggest the only difference would be the io scheduler. Also, I see the default grub choice is "Desktop" and not "Default", so I take this as a suggestion to prefer one over the other.
However, my broadcom 4312 wireless only works on the "default" and not on the "desktop" kernel, so I guess there must be other differences. I just want to evaluate which one is the less long-term risk option to go.
After I ran sensors-detect, it said that İ needed k10temp module to be compiled, so I searched some forums and got required stuff. However, before compiling it, I added the gnome applet for sensors to the panel, and surprisingly it shows the cpu and motherboard temperatures. How reliable it is? I had previously installed lm-sensors and the associated files on my Lattitude 2100 when I was running 8.10 and got a great little bargraph readout thing at the bottom of the screen that helped me monitor system temperatures. Now that I've upgraded to lucid lynx netbook, I can't seem to get the same thing going. I installed the lm-sensors etc. but the applet/readout/display whatever you want to call it, is nowhere to be found.
