View 5 Replies View Relatedon my dell xps M1530 dualcore duo 2.2GHz 4GB ram 500GB harddisk suse 11.3 KDE 4.4 and KDE4.6beta1, when I copy big or a big number of files (20 or 30 files 500MB each) dolphin slow wildly down, especially when I copy from a smb:// to my disk, dolphin start immediately to copy but when I click on a tab or a folder (a one that I didn't opened before) dolphin shows it to me after a couple of minutes, is it possible to solve??

I am runnig WinXP and OpenSUSE 11.4 on dual boot.Generaly i am using SUSE, XP only for UpNP Media Center(server) to watch movies stored on my computer on TV via STB.For this i am using TVersity for wich i not found yet Linux alternative - or better say - i found it but is too heavy for my PC(P4 1.6 Mhz, 768 MB RAM, an dinosaur from Nvidia Vanta with 64 MB RAM)But this is not a part of my question.My question is how to transfer(copy, move...?) files from SUSE to WinXP?A large files like avi, mkv, mostly movies.I solved this to copy them on USB and then from USB to Win.This is a very slow proces because my PC have only USB 1.0And before asked me - all files are legaly downloaded from paysites.From SUSE, partitions(disks), folders and files under WinXP are visible but is not possible to copy files on them - acces is denied.Is there any way to do this?Suse is insatlled on LVM - /root/home/swapI am interesting ONLY to copy files from SUSE to Win, not at al from Win to SUSE.Code:

I have Ubuntu 10.l0 installed on my laptop. I recently install the KDE desktop from the Software Center. Today, I noticed something strange. I tried to move a file to the trash when I got this error message: "The trash has reached its maximum size! Cleanup the trash manually." I don't have any files in the trash. I went back to Gnome, and was able to delete the file. I opened up Dolphin while still in Gnome, and couldn't delete anything, so I know that this isn't a KDE problem
View 5 Replies View Relatedi'm used to copy dvdvideo from k3b and it always worked.But I got a dvd that was readable from dolphin (AUDIO and VIDEO folders) but when I tried to copy the dvd from k3b , it could not.I then copied the audio and video file and created an iso and burned it.My problem is that mplayer could play the original dvd but not my copy of the dvd either as the iso or on the dvd itself.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI don't know where to begin figuring this out. On a total fresh install of kubuntu 11.04, everything went fine. When I do any copying in dolphin it crashes. Konqueror does the same thing. I installed samba and I can copy files when using samba from a remote computer, locally it crashes dolphin and konqueror. I turned off desktop searching, still crashes. I tried copying from konquorer to dolphin and vice versa, crashes everytime. The system notification acts like it started the copy and keeps whirring until I close it. What can I try?
View 6 Replies View Relatedi am using dolphin 1.5 in kde 4.5.2. whenever i try to access movie file from remote samba server. dolphin copies the movie file to somewhere in local hard disk. so, i have to wait until a big file transferring complete. i know that it happens when i open .avi using mplayer. if i open the same remote file with kmplayer, it will player immediately instead of making local copy first. however, kmplayer is very slow and sounds and video stream breaking up, (i am sorry i do not know right english expression for this) i suppose this is not related to mplayer configuration. this seems to be dolphin problem. can i make dolphin to stop copying samba share to local disk and play instantly? there is a video in videos. it is comparing how dolphin and nautilus act differently when i play remote samba share movies.

THE PROBLEM : gnome 3 freeze sometimes, the PC is freeze (the mouse doesn't move when i move the mouse. I must power down my PC for re-activate it. I want to shift to gnome 2 (i think gnome3 is excellent but it don't work) but it seems to be impossible. What i can do ? Does-it exist some combinaisons (like ctl+alt+suppr on windows) for keep the control ?

Every time I press ctrl c or v the touchpad freezes for a few seconds and the cursor won't move.
i don't know if this is a slackware related issue but i have the following problem.I'm running a slackware64-current on my system. For my private data I'm using a QNAP NAS (Some ARM CPU with linux kernel 2.6.22), the file shares provided by NFS. I mount them withmount -t nfs 192.168.0.2:/Public /mnt/qnapWorks fine, no problems.But now, if i try to copy some large files ( > 1GiB) to the NAS share, sometimes the systems completely freezes during the copy process. View 5 Replies View Related1) Any process (including boot, shutdown, download, open programs, etc) is freeze (don't have any progress) until I move the mouse or hit any button, so for install and use my ubuntu I have to keep moving my mouse and as you imagine is VERY TIRED.2) I get some general freeze on random times, neither the mouse, keyboard or process move, I notice that if I unplug power it unfreze, and I can work for some time.This 2 problems annoy me a lot, and I suspect is a problem related to my Netbook Model, I read about someone that has the same problem but no solution there.
This is what I did:I Try Ubuntu loading from my USB memory (1GB), run very good but with the 2 problems, but I thought it can be resolved installing.I installed along side with W7, couldn't boot Ubuntu, so I configured GRUB2 and it could enter now, but if I don't press **** after selecting Ubuntu it give me the BusyBox, and then the same 2 problems.I get rid of my W7 and did a Full Install on my 160GB HDD, hoping it can work fine, but no.I install all updates and no effect on that.
I want to move my working copy of an SVN repository from /usr to /homeCan I just move the repository using mv or is there something else that needs to be done?The same goes for deleting a working copy of a repository, if I wanted to delete my working copy could I just go ahead and delete it or is there some administration that needs to be done first?

today i tried to copy ALL files from a directory to another. and i realized that i dont know. i know that that "~ mv /ThisThing/ /ThisFolder/" "~ cp /ThisThing/ /ThisFolder/" but howould i be able to copy EVERYTHING from a folder into another. tis is diferent from copying the folder itself (which i also would like to know)i bet is a simple thing that i havent figured out!
Im usign photorec to recover some files that i lost during a format to my hard drive.
The program works like a charm but put all the files on differents folders. i use the find command to put on a list the jpg files but how i use the cp or the mv command to move that files in the list to another folder?

Basically taking a csv file and moving it from mysql directory on my Ubuntu machine to a network folder on my windows server. (Windows Server 2003)
When I try that command from the command prompt I recieve;

I can't perform any of those.Except from the Terminal.I didn't edit any permission... nor installed anything.Don't know what to do.Also, "Move to Trash" appears grayed out, in the right-click menu (for all the files/folders).

1. Server with ldap for authentication and autofs maps
2. Client machines have home directories on this server (nfs3) these machines also have some 'shared' directories on the same server (nfs4)
Now if I use a terminal I can always create files in the shared directories (subject to the relevant permissions) - I can also always save files in OO and the like. The problem is that Dophin sometimes has the create greyed out and sometimes it doesn't. So now I am at a loss as to why. This is 11.2 with kde 4.4.3 btw
How can you create a script to move or copy files from a main directory into multiple directories below the main directory.
