I have two applets on my Gnome panel -- NetworkManager Applet 0.8, and Klipper (it works better than Glipper) -- that I want to move.
HOWEVER, right-clicking the panel icons does not enable me to move these applets, as follows:
- NetworkManager Applet 0.8 does not include a Move item in its list of options.
- Klipper displays a long list of Klipper options but no Move option.
How I can move these items to new locations on the Gnome panel?
Ubuntu :: Single Mouse Click Registering As Double Click?
Mar 13, 2010About a week ago I installed some updates. What they were I don't remember. After I did that my mouse started acting up. Now about half the time when I single click it registers as a double click. Also when I click and drag to select text anywhere it'll randomly do another click screwing up that process.
So far I think the problem is when I press the left mouse button it registers the left click and then when I release, it randomly registers another left click.
The mouse itself works fine if I take it to another PC that's using windows.
OS: Ubuntu 9.10 64bit
Mouse: Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0

Apr 13, 2011when i click my mouse on something, it sometimes registers as two clicks. it doesn't happen all the time, but frequently enough to be annoying. for example, when i click a videos video to pause it, it often opens into fullscreen (which you normally click twice to do). also, in the url bar of chromium, i can't select the entire url by clicking. i now need to use ctrl+a. that's also because when i try to select the url, the highlight randomly disappears.
if i have multiple windows open, my click on the first "x" of the top-most window also closes the next window. i'm on linux mint 10. it's not really important, but it drives me crazy sometimes when my mouse doesn't work the way i want it to.

If I normally click the Trash icon either in Kmail or in Evolution more than one mail gets deleted in a sequential order! I have to press the click button extremely light to avoid this problem. I have confirmed this problem is not only with the Email clients but even with most other normal applications too. I have changed my mouse twice but the problem persists. Both were USB mice. Jun 21, 2011I just installed Ubuntu 11.04 and I have a Logitech MX518 mouse. I see that the Logitech SetPoint software is only for Windows, but I am not able to get the exact mouse behavior that I want through the Mouse settings in Ubuntu.
I want acceleration disabled, so I put the slider all the way to the left for acceleration. I then move the slider for mouse sensitivity, but I didn't notice a change in cursor speed. How can I modify my mouse to not use acceleration but adjust the speed of the cursor? Is there a special app I can install for this?

May 6, 2010I did something stupid and i don't know what i did or how to fix it. For some reason every time i click within the contents (not the title bar) of a window (for example; firefox, transmission, nautilus, terminal, basically any running application) and drag the mouse while holding the left mouse button down the entire window moves instead of the expected behavior (selecting text in firefox, moving a file in nautilus, selecting a torrent in transmission, clicking checkbox in system preferences, etc).
This is the expected behavior you would get from clicking on the title bar but not the contents of the window. Right before this happened, i had installed Xephyr and Sugar emulator (for XO OLPC). In the title bar of the Sugar emulator it said to push "ctrl + shift" in order to grab/release the mouse - I had issues getting the mouse successfully grabbed and released - this is around the time all of the problems started.
I have since removed Sugar and Xephyr yet this problem remains. It appears that i have somehow toggled a setting to make moving windows the default behavior when clicking.what i did to cause this to happen and what i can do to fix it? I don't want to have to reinstall. p.s. its not a stuck key - i have rebooted multiple times and the problem remains passed reboots.
p.p.s at the login screen the behavior is not present, you must hold ALT while clicking on the login window in order to exhibit the behavior. However. once Gnome is loaded you no longer need to hold ALT to window the move, it just defaults to that behavior.

How do I remove these folders. The folders were part of ClamAV which has been removed. They show up as a virus in my Avast Anti Virus.

May 9, 2011I've been using the Pandora One app. on my opensuse 13 installation and two things have come up.
1st, (almost certainly because it's an Adobe Air container) I can't right-click on the title bar and move the app. to another workspace like I can with every other app. Is there a workaround like a key press combination or something?
2nd, and I am not sure if this is specifically a Pandora issue some combination of apps. but sometimes (most noticeable when Pandora is running) all my apps. just "freeze" for many secs. (perhaps about 10-20 secs.) and then suddenly all my clicks and key presses catch up. I have a 2.6Ghz quad core duo CPU and it doesn't look anywhere near at 100% on any of the cores when this happens (more like 10%). It seems like there's some sort of a "lock" preventing all internal messaging in X for those seconds. If there was a way to lower the thread priority on the Pandora app. then that might be a good way to resolve this but I have no idea how to do that.

Sep 2, 2010on desktop, my mouse works normal. i can open programs normally, BUT, when i try to click inside some window, pointer turns into closed hand, that symbols dragging. i can move the window that way, but can't click anything except when holding shift, alt or ctrl.it's probably my fault, but i don't remember pressing anything different than usually. oh, and, it started in the middle of the session, i tried to reboot several times, tried recovery too, after that updated but no help there.i was looking for solution on google but can't find anything for days, i cant think of anything but reinstallation

Oct 14, 2010just want to report "Right Mouse Click Freeze" on Ubuntu 10.10. When I click on anything with my right mouse button to open options menu it freezes and does not open menu. Sometimes when I shake my mouse left/right a bit it opens that menu, but this does not work always. It seems like xserver issue, but I'm not sure since I'm not expert in linux yet. It's very annoying issue that I would like to resolve asap.

May 2, 2010Like many others I recently upgraded to 10.04. So far it's generally an *excellent* upgrade. Very promising LTS release. However, mouse clicks are suddenly not behaving as expected in applications (including system config apps). In these, I must ctrl-click to get proper left and right click behavior. Strangely, on both the top panel and on the awn dock, clicks behave as they should. One final note, this behavior was not immediately present after the 10.04 installation. It started the day after the 10.04 release. Currently in the process of checking recent installs to see if anything would affect this.

However, I have a problem: When I press any of the 'special' keys on the keyboard (Vol up, down, mute, and various others), the left-click on my mouse disables. I'm using a Microsoft Digital Media Keyboard 3000, which has a lot of special keys (and the f keys are special by default), so I've been having trouble not disabling my mouse. Anyone know what the problem is, how to resolve it? And on top of that, how do I make the special keys work?

May 2, 2011I am one of these macbook users who switched to ubuntu and now slowly tries to get a grip on it.
So to get a little comfortable, I thought it would be nice to have a right mouse click. Well I thought it would be great if I could simulate it on my lower right <Enter> (xev say the keycode is 104). I googled and found mouseemu! And it does exactly this! But it is not working (or at least not for me).
I can edit /etc/default/mouseemu

and get no effect on the next start up.
(yet ps -A assures me two mouseemu's are up...)
When I try it on the commandline:

May 22, 2011As far back as I can remember, on any Linux system, not just Ubuntu, you could use the mouse to highlight a chunk of text, and then by clicking both mouse buttons at the same time, you could paste that high-lighted text wherever you want. I had used this all the time on my previous Ubuntu installations... until now. In Ubuntu 11.04 I don't have this luxury anymore.
