OpenSUSE Wireless :: Search A Driver For Huawei MobileBroadband Model - E 1750 Hspa USB Stick ( 64 Bit )?

Aug 27, 2010

On google there is no information. Opensuse does not know anything about this chip. On that stick is a driver for Win 7 64 and a linux driver for debian. I shall " dial up" with an analog modem to get into the internet. All at the console over ppp and comands like pon and poff. there is no networkmanager. The web `n walk stick and its label is Fusion II. Perhaps anybody has similar problems.

OpenSUSE Network :: Huawei E122 HSPA USB Stick Not Working Under 11.3

Aug 31, 2010

I upgraded from 11.2 to 11.3 and with great disappointment I discovered that my HSPA modem, that worked out of the box under 11.2, work no more. At the first attempt NetworkManager is able to build the connection, I am able to use Yast to download new packages and online updating but at the first use of firefox the internet connection hangs up. Any attempt to disconnecting/reconnceting the usb stick gives the following error in the kernel echo:

OpenSUSE Network :: Huawei E200 Usb Stick Is Not Working In 11.3

Sep 3, 2010

Although my Huawei e200 usb stick is working well under ubuntu, its not working in openSUSE. I think the udev rule provided by the vendor is suited for a debian system and not for openSUSE. When i see the dmesg output, it adds driver for ttyUSB0 and as soon as it adds it also removes it. This sequence goes on continuing till i unplug my usb stick from my computer. The udev file(78-haier.rules) provided by the vendor is as follows:

ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEMS=="usb",
ATTRS{idVendor}=="201e", ATTRS{idProduct}=="1008",
ATTRS{bNumInterfaces}==" 1",
RUN:="/usr/sbin/haier.sh 201e 1008"
ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEMS=="usb",
DRIVERS=="option",
ATTRS{bInterfaceNumber}=="00",
SYMLINK="ttyMODEM"

The haier.sh script that the udev runs is as follows:

[Code]...

# may not use this driver if the product id is already compiled into another driver modprobe -a option echo "0x${VID} 0x${PID}" > /sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/option1/new_id

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Exchanged Modem/router For Same Model But Now Cannot Connect To Internet Using WEP

Dec 1, 2010

I had an ATT "2Wire" modem/router that was working but connection to the Internet was often poor. An ATT technician came to my home and swapped out the modem/router for the identical model. I changed the ESSID and WEP code to match the new unit and everything was fine with the following wireless units: a wireless desktop, two cellphones, three wireless Archos tablets, and a couple of e-reader tablets. So all seemed to be fine wirelessly. However...

My laptop (SuSE 11.0, KDE3) simply won't connect no matter what I do. I changed the ESSID and WEP info in the lappy exactly as was done with the other wireless devices named above. But no good. The lappy does see the modem/router (a good, strong signal appears in KNetworkManager). But it seems as if the modem/router is rejecting the lappy's attempted handshake using the new ESSID and/or WEP information.

I thought that perhaps there was something wrong with the lappy's wireless card, so I took it to a Starbucks to see if it would connect there on an open network, and it did without problem. So the lappy's wireless card appears to be working fine. It just won't talk to the encrypted modem/router at home. Here are the settings on the lappy. Hopefully something here is easily identified as the culprit. With all the clicking I've done it certainly is possible that I ticked something that should not have been ticked and just don't realize what I've done.

Network settings screen:
Global options tab:
Network setup method: user controlled with Network Manager
Change default route via DHCP (ticked)

[code]....

Why won't the new modem/router which is exactly the same as the old one except for the ESSID and WEP work with my lappy yet it does work with a bunch of other wireless devices?

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Mobile Broadband HUAWEI E1756C Connect But Do Not Surf ?

Feb 20, 2011

I am trying to use the HUAWEI E1756C USB stick to connect to the internet. Installing usb_modeswitch and usb_modeswitch-data allowed networkmanager to "recognize" the stick and set up a mobile broadband connection.

The result is that NM succeeded in connecting (one of every five attempts) but firefox does not surf, nor emails can be downloaded etc. Just like if not being connected. The USB modem shows the steady blue LED as connected.

A NM issue? I have tried disabling NM control and tried with PPP clients like NMTSMON, wvdial and even Sakis3g. All with the same results. They seem to connect and show flux up and downloaded but no surfing.

resolf.conf shows is pretty much empty and no DNS there.

The working settings in Window$ are:

Same settings with Sakis3G, or NMTSMON or NM result in connection with no action from applications that use the internet.

I have had a similar issue with WLAN each time I change to a different network. I solve that by forcing to update the DHCP. I mean using -su dhcpd wlan0

But attempts like dhcpcd ttyUSB0 or dhcpcd ttyS0 get the same result. So no idea if this is an DHCP, or DNS or another issue.

My box is an ASUS EEEPC 2005H netbook with OpenSuSE 11.2 and KDE

OpenSUSE Wireless :: RTL8191SE Driver On Compaq Presario CQ62 Doesn't Work With XP Driver

Oct 23, 2010

No wireless networking. The ethernet works fine, and the wireless interface itself works well in Windows 7 (dual boot). Tried: Ndiswrapper, notoriously quirky, does not seem to work with the XP driver (the oldest driver available for the RTL8191SE). The linux driver offered on the manufacturer's website lacks any installation instructions. I have no clue how to install a linux driver. SUSE seems to have two network managers that are constantly complaining about control: Network Manager and Yast. Neither are great and I am left missing my Ubuntu.

However, my audio only seems to work on SUSE. I have tried almost every distro on this machine. Ubuntu lacked sound and wireless, Fedora played startup sounds, but would not play an mp3 or wav file (fiddling with the mixer did not help). And Fedora also lacked wireless support. PCLinuxOS, my favorite, lacked sound and wireless. Tried some oldies too. ELE, DSL, Puppy, Ubuntu Netbook remix, Vector, Browserpuppy, Crunchbang, Cruncheee (just for experimental sakes) and probably others I am not remembering. So far, installing a free linux distro has cost me 14 dvd-R's and countless hours of installing, reformatting and reinstalling. Part of me really wanted crunchbang to work, as I love the minimalism and blacked-out theme.

I need wireless network access. The wireless light remains red in Linux and pressing the key does nothing to start the device. In Windows 7 it always lights white and works perfectly. Why hasn't SUSE adopted a gui for ndiswrapper? Other distros have it. Why is my brand new laptop, which is by no means abnormal in make or configuration, not 100% supported natively by any Linux distro? I just updated to the new kernel yesterday. So I should be running the most modern operating system available. Yet good-ol Windows 7 is my only fully functional environment.

Ubuntu Networking :: Fonic UMTS USB-Stick Huawei E1550 Ubuntu 10.4 LTS Install

Jul 2, 2010

A few days ago I ordered a UMTS USB-stick from Fonic and I received a Huawei model E1550. Win and Mac install files are on the stick, but nothing for Linux. I found for the USB Modeswitch "drivers" at www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswitsch/ (nothing about the program source on the producers web page - strange), but the install gave me a lot of errors, and after a while, I decide to find another "approach". I think you might find this useful. This is my approach for Ubuntu 10.4 LTS. Open your terminal and type:

# sudo apt-get install udev-extras

and add a new udev rule:

# gksu gedit /etc/udev/rules.d/15-huawei-e1550.rules

In the pop-up window make the rule like this:

SUBSYSTEM=="usb",
SYSFS{idProduct}=="1446",
SYSFS{idVendor}=="12d1",
RUN+="/lib/udev/modem-modeswitch --vendor 0x12d1 --product 0x1446 --type option-zerocd"

Save and close. To setup you mobile broadband connection go to System / Preferences / Network Connections, (or type in terminal ~$ nm-connection-editor) select the Mobile Broadband Tab, Add new and follow the assistent. The only changes I made, are the country of the provider, and the provider. (In my case Germany, Fonic) If you have to type in the settings yourself for Fonic, visit [URL] If the device is plugged, it will connect after a few seconds.

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Building Wireless Driver - Command Not Found

Jan 25, 2011

I got openSUSE installed, and now am trying to build my wireless driver, using the instructions here: [URL].

The wireless driver is here:
Broadcom.com - 802.11 Linux STA driver
NOTES:
- The (parenthesis: ) are my notes to show you what I was doing.
- Lines with "#" before them are what I typed into Terminal.
- Lines below (Output: ) are what was output by Terminal.

Code:
(run in su:)
lspci -n | grep 14e4
(output:)
04:00.0 0280: 14e4:4727 (rev 01)

(BUILD DRIVER:)
#su
<password>
# mkdir hybrid_wl
# cd hybrid_wl
# tar xzf <path>/hybrid-portsrc_x86-32_v5.100.82.38.tar.gz
# make

(output:)
if 'make' is not a typo you can use command-not-found to lookup the package that contains it, cnf make
(NOTE: with "cnf" it is saying "Cannot Find")
(install "make" command:)
# zypper in -t pattern devel_basis
(It installs 93 packages)
# make

(output:)
kbuild_nopedantic=1 make -C /lib/modules/`uname -r` /build M=`pwd`
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.34-12-desktop/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
make: *** [all] Error 2

(Tried:)
# zypper in kernel-source
(It installed 3 more packages)
# make

(output:)
kbuild_nopedantic=1 make -C /lib/modules/`uname -r` /build M=`pwd`
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.34-12-desktop/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
make: *** [all] Error 2

The problem might be derived from the fact I had to install openSUSE in Kernel (F6) > Safe Mode. If I need to install more things, please let me know ASAP! I am wired to my ethernet until then, which means I can't move from this spot until my wireless is working!

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Installing Wireless Driver With Ndiswrapper On 11.4 GNOME

Mar 20, 2011

I recently upgraded to OpenSUSE 11.4 GNOME on my ancient Compaq Armada E500 (Pentium II processor w/512MB of RAM) and now I'm trying to install my wireless driver with ndiswrapper. I've done this a couple of times before, but I'm having trouble getting ndiswrapper to find my driver. The driver is located in a folder on my desktop, but when I type the command 'ndiswrapper -i home/edwin/Desktop/WPC54G_40826/LSTINDS.INF' I get a message that there is no such file or directory at ndiswrapper's location, which is usr/sbin/ndiswrapper. So how do I get ndiswrapper either to look in the directory where the file is located or get a copy of LSTINDS.INF into the usr/sbin/ directory, which must be accessed as root?
