OpenSUSE Wireless :: Installing Driver / Configure - Won't Allow To Edit Or Paste Any Files Into The Folder

I just dual booted Open SUSE on my computer, and am pretty happy with it. But, in order to use my wireless card for it, I need to install a driver. The wireless card is a Realtek 8191 SE. I've downloaded a driver, but I have no idea how to configure it. I've tried pasting the files into /lib/firmware, but it won't allow me to edit or paste any files into the folder.
I've been looking for a good, easy to install, video editor. All searches thus far have lead into blind install alleys. All I want to do at this point is edit, cut, and paste AVI and MPEG4 files.
I recently upgraded to OpenSUSE 11.4 GNOME on my ancient Compaq Armada E500 (Pentium II processor w/512MB of RAM) and now I'm trying to install my wireless driver with ndiswrapper. I've done this a couple of times before, but I'm having trouble getting ndiswrapper to find my driver. The driver is located in a folder on my desktop, but when I type the command 'ndiswrapper -i home/edwin/Desktop/WPC54G_40826/LSTINDS.INF' I get a message that there is no such file or directory at ndiswrapper's location, which is usr/sbin/ndiswrapper. So how do I get ndiswrapper either to look in the directory where the file is located or get a copy of LSTINDS.INF into the usr/sbin/ directory, which must be accessed as root?
When trying to install the nvidia graphics driver I get the following error-message:
ERROR: The kernel header file '/usr/src/linux/include/linux/version.h' does not exist. The most likely reason for this is that the kernel source files in '/usr/src/linux' have not been configured. How do I configure the kernel source files?
my issue is that i want to boot from windows boot loader neither than booting form grub loader...
I have installated windows and then installated red hat...I am able to login to windows and red hat without any issue but my prob is to load red hat and windows from windows boot loader...
Can u guys tell me where to edit and configure the files.
i have created an folder inside my redhat server. and i shared it via samba and mapped that shared folders inside 5 windows machine. now the problem i am facing is, if any one create a file in that mapped drive the other user cant edit that same file. but he can read it. only for files not folders.
i gave full permission to that folders and subfolders and in smb file i gave readable writable browsable permissions. and i disabled se linux and firewall
I have installed Fedora 12 x86_64 and vsftpd. I would like to set up an user for FTP so that he/she could only view/edit files in one certain folder (the one that I set up). How would I go about doing that?
just want to download the 60mb-ish pack of family photos from my external usb hard drive. I've gone through a multitude of wikis and help threads and can't seem to figure out how to copy and paste those files to my laptop The usb hd works perfectly as I just was using it about 1 hour ago when I still had vista on this laptop. I am using Ubuntu 10.04. I want to disable the cut, copy, paste options in the Edit menu when my system is connected by rdesktop. I want to make a write/copy protected session in the rdesktop. I have disabled the keybord shortcuts like Ctrl+X ,Ctrl+V, Ctrl+C by disabling their Keysyms in the rdesktop code. Now I need to disable the options in the edit menu.
I have a laptop and a Broadcom 4322AG Wireless adapter in it. I am using Fedora 11 64 bit Live. instructions to install and configure my internet connection in Linux. I dont know how to install drivers in linux though I have Got a 64 bit driver from Broadcom Website. In windows, my internet connection doesnt need any password to access. It get connected to internet when I turn on wireless.
No wireless networking. The ethernet works fine, and the wireless interface itself works well in Windows 7 (dual boot). Tried: Ndiswrapper, notoriously quirky, does not seem to work with the XP driver (the oldest driver available for the RTL8191SE). The linux driver offered on the manufacturer's website lacks any installation instructions. I have no clue how to install a linux driver. SUSE seems to have two network managers that are constantly complaining about control: Network Manager and Yast. Neither are great and I am left missing my Ubuntu.
However, my audio only seems to work on SUSE. I have tried almost every distro on this machine. Ubuntu lacked sound and wireless, Fedora played startup sounds, but would not play an mp3 or wav file (fiddling with the mixer did not help). And Fedora also lacked wireless support. PCLinuxOS, my favorite, lacked sound and wireless. Tried some oldies too. ELE, DSL, Puppy, Ubuntu Netbook remix, Vector, Browserpuppy, Crunchbang, Cruncheee (just for experimental sakes) and probably others I am not remembering. So far, installing a free linux distro has cost me 14 dvd-R's and countless hours of installing, reformatting and reinstalling. Part of me really wanted crunchbang to work, as I love the minimalism and blacked-out theme.
I need wireless network access. The wireless light remains red in Linux and pressing the key does nothing to start the device. In Windows 7 it always lights white and works perfectly. Why hasn't SUSE adopted a gui for ndiswrapper? Other distros have it. Why is my brand new laptop, which is by no means abnormal in make or configuration, not 100% supported natively by any Linux distro? I just updated to the new kernel yesterday. So I should be running the most modern operating system available. Yet good-ol Windows 7 is my only fully functional environment.
I'm trying to get my new Wireless USB dongle to work with Xubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala. I've extracted the .rar file that was on the drivers CD that came with the dongle. According to the ReadMe....

1. I do not see the driver file anywhere in the folder contents... I suppose that I have to "build" it. 2. In the makefile the chipset is default set to "CHIPSET = 3070" & the folder that holds all the extracted files is named 2008_1128_RT3070_Linux_STA_v2.0.1.0 so I'm confused as to whether this dongle has a 2870 or 3070 chipset inside. I am on a desktop that depends on a USB wireless adapter for it's internet, and I need to install the driver for it. I have downloaded the driver via another computer and isolated the .inf, .sys, and .bin files for the driver, and am trying to install ndiswrapper in order install the driver. the problem is I cannot get ndiswrapper to install, the 'make' command pulls in a laundry list of errors along with the 'make install' command. Is there something I'm missing? I have managed to update the kernel via another computer running the latest kernel, but still receive errors.
I would like to have the following actions enabled in vim: 1. To go to some place, I click the left mouse key 2. To copy text TO the vim editor, I mark the text first in some other window (browser, emacs, xterm) and then I middle-click (or shift-middle click). 3. To copy text FROM the vim editor, I select the text (left-click, hold down, select text, release left button) and then paste the text to somewhere else via the middle button 4. The same as (3) but TO the vim editor itself.

With that configuration, the points 2-4 are working. When I change mouse=r to mouse=a, then 1 AND 3 is working, where I have to press the shift key in addition to press the middle mouse button. How to enable all pieces 1-4, and at best without having the shift-key pressed down to be able to paste text? How should my .vimrc look like? EMacs is not a solution since I am working remotely over a large distance and the network is not suitable to have an EMacs session opened at the remote pc.
Is it possible to view and edit db3 files in linux? OpenOffice does not do it and dbview says it can't read version 83. Just wondering. I am not really firm with databases, but i remember that i did view databases in linux.
I have some pdf files on a usb stick which I want to edit, Evince cannot do this, and if I try to open in Libre there is no option to import pdf there either. Is there an app. or plugin for libre to allow this
I am trying to configure a wireless connection from YAST under the Network Settings tool.It doesn't seem to do anything. My USB wifi device is detected in YAST > Hardware and I am using the module it says Hardware is using. It doesn't seem to save the module under YAST> Network Settings> Network Card Setup. Is this tool broken or useless? It seems setting up WiFi should be easier than this. YAST should work shouldn't it?
I have some great background wallpapers i have downloaded to my home folder, now i want to place these images in Usr/Share/Background. How do i do that i just cannot cut and paste it there?Do i have to open up a terminal and login as root? I did that but still not working, or do i have to do all this by terminal-commands?
I am very new to Linux and need to install a driver for my wireless card. I am trying to install the RT3070 v2.0.1.0 driver from Ralink. I am running Fedora 2.6.29.4-167.fc11.i686.PAE. I have read the thread in the Solutions section about this driver, but unfortunately this is somewhat above my levels of comprehension, and I don't really know where to start.

i have windows vista with a broadcom 802.11g network adapter.I dont know much about computers but i would like to know how to install it on the ubunto OS so i can use internet ?
Installed 11.04 after a Series of Harddrive Problems. HD was Cleared so No XP installed, running ubuntu Only. Compaq Presario C500 - Broadcom 4312 Wireless.
Since my windows HDD died, I have been permanently on ubuntu but i never got my printer set up. Its a friday night and now ive got some time on my hands! Ive found the drivers for my printer (Cannon MP 210) but i have no idea what to do with the files. The file for the scanner is a .tgz file, and the printer driver is a .tar file. When i connected my printer a few minutes ago, ubuntu 10.10 brought me to the installation and i installed and older printers driver (mp 180) but the scanner wont work and a bit of excess ink is on the test paper.
I want to edit files while in runlevel three. I am trying to learn how to navigate my entire system via CL. Whenever I use gedit in runlevel three, is says, "cannot open display"

I am using an HP dv6 series laptop. The wireless works fine in Ubuntu 9.10 (must install the Broadcom STA wireless driver). When I try to use Kubuntu 9.10 my computer crashes when I try to install the driver. Is there any particular reason why it works in one and not the other?
I have Dell Wireless N-card 1520 on my Dell Studio 15 laptop. I have installed Ubuntu10.04 in it. My network card was not able to detect wireless connections. I have even installed 'Windows Wireless Driver' using ndiswrapper. I have latest driver for card. But when i click install .inf file , nothing happens or gets installed.
