OpenSUSE Wireless :: Broadcom Corporation BCM43225 802.11b/g/n (Install 11.4)?

Jun 21, 2011

Wireless Card

07:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM43225 802.11b/g/n (rev 01)

If you haven't added any repositories to your system you will need to do so before using zypper to install the required packages below. (instruction on how to do this under heading add repositories below)

Short Fix (This fix works if you haven't already installed b43-fwcutter firmware, and the b43, ssb kernel drivers are not load.)

zypper remove b43-fwcutter
zypper in broadcom-wl broadcom-wl-kmp-desktop
modprobe wl
reboot (and wifi worked after I activated it using FN F3 to turn it on)
Long fix if required
code....

List of Repo's I have added
1. main (contrib)
2. Mozilla
3. Packman
4. Wine
5. Kde Extra's

Packman and Main (contrib) are the most likely sources of the required files.

Once you have added these you should be good to install the required files.

One final note, I had to use an external usb wifi card to connect to the internet to add the repo's and download the required software. Lan card support coming in 2.6.38 kernel (it is suppose to add a driver for our lan card).

Fedora Networking :: Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 (AirForce One 54g) 802.11g Wireless LAN

This is my first post! I am a brand new Linux fan and am determined to understand how this system works! I am running Fedora 11. My wired NIC works just fine. I am having problems with wireless. I ran lspci -v to find my driver details, found it online and got it working so it would show up in the network configuration. I am having problems getting it to work from there. I am used to getting windows to install the driver and then being able to search for wireless networks. When I try to activate it i get:

OpenSUSE Hardware :: BCM43225 With 11.4 - Wireless Did Not Work

Apr 7, 2011

I have a netbook ASPIRE 1830T with BCM43225. I was looking forward for new opensuse 11.4, because my wireless did not work. However it does not work even with new opensuse 11.4 and brcm80211 included (only bluetooth is on). Pages of Drivers - Linux Wireless project still report lot of work to be done.

There is one old thread BCM43224, BCM43225 and BCM4313 installation guide, where some advices are given about similar BCM wireless. However these hints are too advanced for me or do not work at all. how to obtain working drivers in Suse 11.4?

Seem to have some troublesome chips.
Code:

code....

although in my case they should be for the 2.6.33.3-85.fc13.x86_64 kernel.

And I've been searching that repo for ages now, and I can't seem to find anything with kmod-wl or broadcom in there. I'm well aware that this is most likely because of my own ignorance as to the build up of said repo.

Fedora Hardware :: Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 / No 'b43' Network Card Was Recognized?

Nov 25, 2009

I have had a Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 since Fedora 10. In addition, both Fedora 10 and 11 wouldn't recognize the card with out third-party drivers. I was pretty excited when I booted the 12 Live CD and it recognized it at boot.

Since this is my lab box I thought its time to give Fedora 12 a try.

I did an DVD upgrade from 11 to 12 and rebooted. The Broadcom came up fine this time. I did a yum upgrade to finish from whatever was not on the DVD and rebooted. This time no 'b43' network card was recognized. I still had my third part driver files so I:

b43-fwcutter -w /lib/firmware/ ./broadcom-wl-4.150.10.5/driver/wl_apsta_mimo.o

and a 'modprobe b43' and I had my card back.

I am sorry for dragging this out this far, but now every time the Fedora 12 box reboots I have to type in modprobe b43 to get my card to work. I did not have to do this for neither Fedora 10 nor 11.

I put a line in /etc/modprobe.conf - 'alias wlan0 b43' but I still don't get my wireless card until I type modprobe b43.

Ubuntu Networking :: BCM43225 Wireless Not Detected?

Jun 16, 2011

I know there are a million threads about this, but my problem tends to be slightly different. I've read the sticky on here, I've googled around for a few days now, I've re-installed new drivers, tried a lot of different things. A lot of people seem to be having the issue of being able to see wireless networks, but they can't connect. I'm not that far yet.

When I click on my connections area, near the top right of the screen, then I got to edit connections, under wireless there is no wlan0 or eth1, where as if I do the same for the wired network, it lists a eth0. For some reason my wireless is on eth1, but I can only see that though lshw -C network.

Sometimes my laptops wireless "Light" is on, and sometimes its not. When its on, it means the wireless is enabled. But even when it is on, unfortunately I still have the same issue. I'm on Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit. I'm using an Acer Aspire 7552G-5430, it has the BCM43225 Wireless card.

Here is my lshw -C network

1)Found out that Dell 1520 WLAN adapter has Broadcom 4353 chipset.
2)saw that b43-fwcutter installed
3)installed broadcom-wl and broadcom-wl-kmp-desktop

After that can see many wireless Access Points at home, selected one via NetworkManager (eth1), configured it (incl. security same as in Win7), it goes from Activating to Active, but I still can not connect - I mean, in the FireFox - "page not found"

Ubuntu Networking :: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5721 Network Card Randomly The Network Connection On The Server Will Stop Working?

Jan 29, 2011

I have a Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5721 network card on my server at work.Everything works fine for a few weeks, then randomly the network connection on the server will stop working. After it stops working, I will try to reconnect with the network manager, it shows a wired connection available, it shows the "connection in progress"animation, then the "connection disabled" icon.

I uninstalled the network manager and used manual configuration, but do you think the network manager was the issue? I can't have the server disconnecting randomly every few weeks with no way to know what the real problem is. Was there an issue with the network manager with 10.04?

OpenSUSE Wireless :: 11.2 Recognizing My Broadcom Adapter ?

Dec 14, 2009

I'm having some issues with openSUSE 11.2 recognizing my Broadcom adapter. Following the instructions in the two stickied topics, I can find the adapter both under YaST's Hardware Summary and using the console command /sbin/lspci. I cannot, however, find it with /sbin/lspci -n, and the boot log (viewed with dmesg | less) makes no mention of it either.

Do I need to turn it on or something? This is a dual boot machine, and it works fine under Windows, so I don't think there's a hardware failure at play here.

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Get Broadcom 4313 Driver On Fresh 11.3?

From my lspci output I get Broadcom 4313 and 0x14e4:0x4727It appears that Broadcom supports this card with their Linux STA driverBroadcom.com - 802.11 Linux STA driver guess on that page mine is 4313 2.4 Ghz 0x14e40x4727 Dell 1501even though my notebook is Toshiba. Then they say that the driver is included with Fedora and Ubuntu but nothing about OpenSuse. Then they go on about compiling the driver myself. I'm pretty sure the modules required for compiling drivers are not available on a fresh install and without Internet connection. Is there an easier way to get the driver? Could someone knowledgeable make some .rpm that I can download on another machine and put on a USB stick? Or do I have to wait until Suse developers get to it?

Or could someone make wl.ko file they are talking about on Broadcome Readme? It looks fairly easy to install the driver, if I knew exactly what to disable/blacklist and what security module to load.Another thing I got from dmesg, not sure if it's of any help, was that for this card pci entry that goes like 07:00.0 there's "support D1 D2", then "#PME supported from D0 D3hot D3cold" then the next line "#PME disabled". I've searched this forum but the only time 4313 was mentioned when someone made a mistake with the model number
