OpenSuse 11.4. LibreOffice any versions and Infra Resource OpenOffice can not open any DBF files from smb/cifs shares. At the same time he can write DBF to smb/cifs normally, but after saving it he can't open it!
Any other documents - no problem! odt, xls - any! but not DBF.. And this problem is only on OpenSUSE 11.4 and only in Libre/Open Office! Any other programms can open and write DBF files to smb/cifs shares.
whenever I try to include a SVG picture into a ODT document (e.g. in Writer) I get a "Graphics filter not found" error message. I'm using the "Insert->Picture->From File" menu. I still have .odt files from OpenOffice in 11.3 around that contain SVG cliparts, so it used to work and SVG support is one of the feature highlights in LibreOffice.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently noticed that my libreoffice doesn't have the "Record Macro" voice that used to be in OpenOffice Tools -> Macros. Is that normal or have I installed libreoffice incorrectly?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've had a problem with libreoffice - it won't open files. That is,File/Open doesn't bring up a dialog box. File/New works and so does using a filename on the command line when starting libreoffice. Now there's good news and bad news. The good news is that with help from some libreoffice-users folks, I now know what caused this and I have a workaround. The bad news is that it's a bug in Libreoffice and I need some help testing other versions, please. So here's the steps to reproduce:
(1) Login to a Gnome session (KDE may also work, dunno)
(2) Start libreoffice
(3) Select Tools/Options/LibreOffice/General
(4) Observe in that page a checkbox 'Use LibreOffice dialogue boxes'
(5) Ensure the checkbox is blank (not selected)
(6) Save settings and check that File/Open pops up a dialog box.
(7) Quit libreoffice and log out of the session
(8) Login to an LXDE session
(9) Start libreoffice
(10) Select File/Open
*(11) Check whether a dialog box appears
(12) If not, select Tools/Options/LibreOffice/General
*(13) Check whether there is a checkbox 'Use LibreOffice dialogue boxes'
If your system does NOT open a dialog box in step 11 and does NOT have a checkbox in step 13, you are seeing the same bug as me.I'm using opensuse 11.3.
I received some M$ Power Points files and cannot open then. One file was from Power Points 2010, and another saved with the option 2000-2010. These were rejected by Impress with the failure report "Version Incompatibility. Incorrect file version". When a file was saved with the option Power Point 95, Impress tried to open it but when RAM useable ramped up to > 1GB, Impress automatically shut down. The only other information wrt the files is that its highly likely they contain graphics generated with M$Visio. Has anyone had similar experiences? Are there any work arounds?

I've just installed Opensue 11.4 (gnome-desktop) on my machine. The problem is that, if I open a database-form with libreoffice base, no navigation-bar appeares. The option "navigation" from the view-menu is not active. The database uses the built-in HSQLDB in single user mode. Navigation via libreoffice-basic is possible and I can see the first record - just it is not possible to navigate manually.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have 11.4 with kde 4.6, all up to date via YAST. Radeon driver, legacy ATI display hardware. LibreOffice is latest from the Stable:11.4 repo.
When I open LO, it causes the desktop to break up - diagonal stripes of blocks, and garbage (offset blocks) form all mouse movements from there until kdm restarted.
I restart by switching to F1 console, init 3, the init 5 as root. I can't seem to find any useful messages or logs.

Is it possible to import a PPT presentation to LibreOffice or OpenOffice?
how (if possible) to prevent LibreOffice from using the KDE theme the rest of the apps are using? I like my KDE theme but it's a bit on the dark side. It's fine for Dolphin and KMail and stuff but it is not very suitable for LibreOffice. I would like to use LO with it's default colors, if possible.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhenever I want to print from Libre Office, it's default printer options are somehow set to duplex long edge (standard) and the print quality is set to economy. I want this changed to Duplex Off and print quality set to standard. I've tried setting Libre Office's printer settings (File > Printer Settings) and when that failed, I went to File > Templates > Organize > Commands button and selected Printer Settings and changed them from there. None of these worked.
Whenever I open a document, the print quality is always set to economy and duplex is on (even when it is not needed). I have to keep changing it each time I print a document. I allow my children to use this computer for homework at times and I don't want them to have to mess with the driver settings all the time (more of a chance for something to go wrong or be set incorrectly). I've also checked the printer settings from within YaST and they are all ok.
I did try changing the settings from within the CUPS interface but when I did that, I could no longer print. The system couldn't connect to port 631 anymore and I had to go into YaST again to make it reconnect to the printer port. BTW, when I looked just now at the default printer settings within CUPS, everything seems to be set right, duplex is set to off and print quality is set to standard, which is what I want. Why does Libre Office seem to be ignoring these settings? How can I fix this (easily I hope)?
I am not sure of which LibreOffice version I am using because I can't open the ****ed program. So here's what's happening: I start LibreOffice, my screen looks unusual (it tiles a section of the screen that is the same size as the LibreOffice window (I think) across both of my monitors) and my system locks up. I am unable to use Ctrl+Alt+Backspace, Ctrl+Alt+Delete, Ctrl+Alt+F1-F8, or any other keyboard combination. No mouse click registers and the cursor acts as if the mouse is in one location (if the system locked up with my cursor over a link, the cursor stays like that) BUT the mouse still moves. Also, if I am playing music when it locks up, I can continue to hear the music and the music continues to shuffle through my playlist.
I am able to access my machine normally through ssh and the only way I've been able to fix this is to hold down the power button or pull the power. I have not identified what action causes the system to lock up, the only thing I've noticed is that LibreOffice is open every time this happens (It's happened no matter if Writer or Calc is open). The system almost always locks up upon startup of LibreOffice if the recovery window pops up, otherwise it locks up at some point during my LibreOffice session no matter what. I have not touched LibreOffice on my other machine's openSUSE installation, so I don't know how reproducible the problem is. Let me know if you need any extra information or if there are any diagnostic commands I could run.
Whenever I save a text file edited with LibreOffice, I get a new, locked file which can be identified with its "~.lock" file prefix. This locked file prevents access (probably for security reasons) to the original file. However, this is a serious impediment as it forbids any further editing of the original file or document so long as the locked file has not been removed. Though erasing this locked file (which can be made visible with "Ctrl-H" if hidden) should free the original, this in fact is not the case. how to unlock these locked files?
View 9 Replies View RelatedFor a month or two I have been trying to install a en_NZ dictionary for Libreoffice. It is available from the openoffice extensions page - which I am directed to by selecting Libreoffice > Tools > Language > More Dictionaries Online.
However for the past month or two this page has had problems. Every time I click on any of the extensions I am taken to an error page that states "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading."
Does nobody maintain the openoffice extension pages any more?
I installed Libreoffice from the openbuild service and I observed the following when using Librecalc:
1. Lag time when opening a file.
2. Decreased performance when opening more than one file.
3. Windows freezing when minimizing or maximizing them, or moving them.
4. Windows freezing when using the tiling feature and dragging the cursor to one of the screen edges.
I disabled java and everything works perfectly. Is this the proper course of action? From what I read, I really only need java for the database program.
I am experiencing this behavior on my work computer which is running Opensuse 11.3 KDE 4.6 on a windows network.
I'm running LibreOffice 3.3.1 and 3.3.2 on openSUSE 11.4 KDE. Does anybody have a problem where the KDE interface hangs after copying text in LibreOffice writer? On my system, I copy text in LibreOffice Writer either with the keyboard shortcut or with the context menu, and then I try to click on another window in the task bar, and it doesn't respond for about 2 seconds. The interface within LibO does keep responding though.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with LibreOffice 3.3.3.1 (from the libreoffice stable repository) and some (not all!) .doc files. When opening some .doc files LibreOffices starts and directly closes . The same problem occurs (for the same files) with LibreOffice from the unstable repository. When I go back to the LibreOffice version (3.3.1) shiped with 11.4. everything works fine. Hence, if you have problems with some .doc files downgrade to 3.3.1.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI did not have this problem with OpenOffice in OpenSuse 11.3, it came after upgrading to 11.4. When typing some characters (these three: ?"!) a blank space (grey box) in inserted before them. If the next character is a "normal" one, the grey box disappears as soon as such next character is typed. But, if the next character is one of these three, or a space, the box stays there.
Being a local keyboard, I have to use the Shift key (? = Shift + key next to 0; " = Shift + 2; ! = Shift + 1). But, as you can see, only one of them (?) does differ from the USA keyboard, the other two ("!) are the same as for the USA keyboard. On the other hand, other characters requiring the Shift key ($%&/()=) do not raise the grey box, so I do not think that the point be the local keyboard.
Running 3.3.2 of LibreOffice under 64bit 11.3. When I open a document (.doc) it opens right away, then the cpu spikes for about 8 seconds during which the app is not usable then all is fine. Renamed .libreoffice and made no difference. Tried with both .doc and .odf document types and the same. If I open a empty doc then the spike is a second or 2.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSuse 11.3 KDE 32bit Following instructions in software.opensuse.org: Search Results I installed LibreOffice using the 1-click Install method. It will not start and produces no error when invoked from the console. Now here's the strangest part. If I left click on an .ods file produced by LibreOffice on another computer (on which it worked) KDE tries to extract it using ark even though file properties identifies it as an "ODS spreadsheet".
