I was wondering if anyone has figured out how to access their Gmail files via IMAP on Konqueror? There is supposed to be an imap:// kio slave, but I can't get it to login to my Gmail. I tried imap://username@gmail.com but no luck. I also tried [URL].. since I think the username has to include the @gmail.com part. But still no access.
View 3 RepliesI've been running Courier IMAP for many years now, but when I added gmail's IMAP to my Outlook I noticed something interesting: when you delete a message, it gets thrown into the trash instantly.
With Courier IMAP (or any other IMAP server, for that matter), when you delete, it first marks it for deletion. Then after you Purge Deleted Messages it either gets rid of them or moves them to trash.
Is there a way to implement this in Courier IMAP?
I would like to send emails form my server using my gmail account.Does anybody know how to do it?
OS = OPENSUSE 11.3 server installation - NO GUI....
For a change I installed Konqueror 4.6.2 today. When I login to Gmail it asks to enable ActiveX. Google detects Konqueror as IE. I haven't touched browsing profiles.

Except, I can't figure out how to setup my gmail account in Evolution so that I can see the emails on the server or download them locally. I had it working before both in 8.04 LTS and a flash drive install of UNR 9.10. I really can't figure out why it is so difficult this time.Gmail settings are/were already on IMAP - checked while logged in through browser.In Evolution, I've tried changing the account name, user name (for receiving mail), etc. and different combos of same settings. The receiving mail settings I'm using for IMAP authentication are password and save password. Security is set to SSL.Evolution tries to access the server but never asks for a password. Likely, because something is wrong with my settings. I just don't know what.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am running debian testing, amd64 architecture on my box. I have 3 gmail accounts that I use regularly. I have used mainly thunderbird/icedove to access my mailboxes via imap.However, now two of them have really several tens of thousands of emails I often experience difficulties in dealing with them (the connection often freezes, browsing my folders is a pain).I tried also sylpheed and claws, but the situation has not really improved.I do not think there is anything fundamentally wrong in the way I configured my accounts on the various clients (actually, some of them even boast automatic setup of gmail accounts).
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm on a fresh Ubuntu 9.10 x86_64 install and I'm trying to configure Evolution to grab my email from Gmail using IMAP.
For receiving mail my server is set to imap.gmail.com:993 and my user name is ___@gmail.com
I'm using SSL and the authentication type is "Password"
If I click the "Check for supported types button, the "Please wait. Querying server for a list of supported authentication mechanisms." window pops up, but it never finishes.
When I try to sync my mail, evolution doesn't ask for my password, and the send and receive mail window displays my account as "Scanning folders in "IMAP server imap.gmail.com" indefinitely.
Running Evolution from the terminal doesn't seem to print any IMAP related errors only

POP works fine, but that isn't really an option.
I'm trying to set up my gmail account with Evolution. I am trying to set up a mail client where -
1) All the mails are stored locally, so that I can work offline. When I reconnect, the client (Evolution) syncs with the server - sends emails and updates any changes.
2) All the labels/folder system to be respected and retained.
After struggling with various sites that argued Pop3 and IMAP (numerous blogs and google searches), I came across this conclusion (pls correct them if they are wrong)-
1) Pop3 allows mails to be stored locally, but will not break them up into folders.
2) IMAP will allow the folder system, but will only store the headers of mail on the local server, and the content will be downloaded as per request.
1) Will Pop3 access allow syncing between the local version and the server version? For instance, a mail read in Evolution should be marked as read when I sign into the web-interface as well.(I can always create a filter/rule that replicates gmail filters)
2) Will IMAP allow me to store all mail locally (isn't this exactly what IMAP is not!)? The combination of imap-gmail-evolution was not so successful when I tried it out - too slow!
PS: I would prefer Evolution over Thunderbird so that I can integrate the Calendar. However, if ThunderBird is the easiest solution, then it's fine too...
I'm trying to connect to Gmail to pull my emails from the Gmail site, via the IMAP/POP3 access server. However, I can't seem to connect to the server when in Ubuntu code...
And it hangs here indefinitely. However, if I reboot my PC into Windows, it connects fine. I've turned off UFW so I would expect the connection to work. I've also been able to POP3 into other servers, so it seems to be something specific to the gmail IP.
Anyone else had the same problem or know how I can debug/fix this?
I'd like to configure Evolution (or Thunderbird) to delete Gmail messages. When I select messages and hit "Delete", the messages go to my local trash and they loose their Inbox label in Gmail. I would like that in Gmail, they loose their Inbox label and go to [Gmail]/Trash so that they'll be deleted after a month.
Could I configure the "delete" key of my keyboard to move msg to [Gmail]/Trash ? Could I configure another key to move msg to [Gmail]/Trash ?
What other solution ? Because moving to the trash is not convenient, it takes a lot of time without a key shortcut.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy college internet providers shifted to a different setting.. defined in the changing lan proxy settings on the user end. I.e.ip - 192.168.0.200 and port to 3000. This to reduce misuse of the net connection ..The thing is, since then, every other website is working, except GMail. It isnt blocked, the Nebero page shows up for blocked sites. When attempting to open gmail, the default internet page shows up for unavailability of page owing to no or slow response from the server, or the firewall or proxy settings not appropriately configured. I cannot open gmail, the connection on empathy im. I cant ping gmail either. No response. What can be the problem.

Currently if I try to sent an email with my recently installed msmtp, I get the following message:

I have been trying to figure out how to keep my company's email from being treated as junk mail by Hotmail, Yahoo & Gmail for over a year.
When I acquired the company its email was hosted by sina.com as its in China. It was being run under a windows server and had issues sending & receiving.
I moved it to a linux server system in Hong Kong that has a US co-host site in Chicago area thinking its got to better than whats running in China.
We are still having problems sending emails to hotmail, yahoo and gmail.
My entire company is about ready to redmond our company email and use their personal webmail accounts.
I installed 11.3amd64 as a VM under Vista/VMWare Player - all worked fine. I have now installed it as a physical system. It nstalled cleanly BUT during first boot it could not access the repos. With each repo it gave the message
- download (curl) error for (repo)
- error code connection failed
- error message could not resolve host (repo)
This was followed by a message box containing
- UI syntax error
- no widget with ID 'contents
Firefox could not access the internet (cannot find server) until I disabled IPV6 (I used about:config), now it works fine. I think the repos problem is because of IPV6 - I usually have trouble with IPV6. I tried disabling IPV6 with the following (How To Disable ipv6 on SuSE Linux | Linux Poison)

I am having some trouble finding the information i need, here is what i am trying to accomplish.
1. Download POP email messages from cody@clearsky.net.au using fetchmail and assigning them to account "cody"
2. Connect and view the emails via IMAP using dovecot server logging in using "cody"
So far i have the fetchmail part working fine, but i cannot see any emails in the inbox. The messages are going thru however as they are visable in MUTT. i have edited my /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf to change the mail directories, but no luck
My server listens to POP3/IMAP requests. I used to have this setup on an old server and i'm trying to move it to a new server.I have a new box installed with Ubuntu 10.10, sendmail, courier-imap and courier-pop.I've configured virtusertable/local-host-names/virtual-domains/sendmail.cf and such.Everything is set up to take any mail arriving to @mydomain.com and move it to a user called "mobileinbox".When i log in as mobileinbox (su mobileinbox) and check my inbox using mutt, i see all the e-mails , but when i login from the outside using pop3 or imap , it says i have no new emails.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a method to sync my calendars on my IMAP server with both my Thunderbird/Lightning any my Blackberry. I found "IMAP Calendar Proxy" here recently, but it has been inactive for 5 years. I've seen people suggesting the use of services like Plaxo and such, but I don't like the idea of a third party messing with my calendars and contacts. Also, I've had to remove several viruses from computers with Plaxo, and I'm not sure if it in itself is a virus or not..... It certainly is a thorn in my side as is. This is for my personal IMAP server, so I'd prefer a free solution even if it is more difficult to install than a paid version. I mainly need it to just sync my calendar to my Blackberry and Thunderbird and couldn't care less about the contacts.
I've been Googling for things for quite some time now, and haven't really found anything that says that it will work with Blackberry and Thunderbird. They really only give a sense of maybe with nothing really defined. I can put on an Ubuntu server to sync everything? I don't want to leave my computer on all the time, and RIM has yet to come out with something decent to sync Blackberries and Thunderbird properly as far as I know.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a desktop computer running OpenSUSE 11.2 with two network cards installed. I would like to use both cards for connecting to the internet using different networks. The setting would be the following: eth0 is the main (default) card, almost all programs should use this NIC for connecting to the internet. eth1 is used only by a few programs, which have setting for selecting which network interface to use. The two NIC's are connected to different networks, so the IP address of the NIC's, the related subnet masks and gateways are also different.
Saying short, I would like to have the two NIC's as they would be in two separate computers. I can set the IP address and subnet mask of the NIC's. The main problem is that I can only declare one gateway. How can i setup this? I do not use network manager, I configure network cards using yast, but if needed I can of course use ifconfig directly.
I'm having a strange problem with my network connection/DNS. I turn computer the on and it recognizes and connects to wireless or wired but I can't access any Internet resources or my router. If I ping the default gateway, I get no response and I get DNS errors from any network services that run at start up. If I stop and start the network daemon then it all works fine until the next time I turn on my laptop. It does this for both wireless and wired connection.
I've tried to edit the network interface information in YaST but it says that configuration is handled by knetworkmanager and I have no idea where that information is accessed. I should point out that it all worked fine until I tried to connect to open WAP at my school and couldn't so I connected to the wired network. Next morning I had this problem when connecting to my home network. My questions are 1. What could be the cause of this error and 2. where does one configure the network interfaces when using knetworkmanager
i have 3 comps(running suse 11.3) and a laptop(running vista sp2). i have installed samba on all suse comps. i have a printer attached to one of the comps and it has been shared also the internet connection on that comp has been shared. all the computers are connected using lan cables through an ethernet switch. i also have a wireless router which is connected to the ethernet switch.
I am able to view all the comps on the network except the laptop running vista. all the desktops are visible on the network and are able to print and share files on the network and also connect to the internet. the laptop running vista can connect to the internet but its not visible on the network and nor can it share files across the network or access the printer.
