I installed audacity but it doesn't import mp3's. I even reinstalled the version from the packman repository but still no mp3 support. Tried to update it, can't figure out how to get it to play mp3's.
I am just looking for a media player I can open mp3's in, change the pitch and then export again.
I'm looking for a music player, similar to rhythmbox, but one that allows for drag 'n drop mp3 cd burning capabilities.
If I'm not clear, I want to be able to drag songs from my library into a playlist, or whatever, just like rhythmbox will do for audio cd's, but be able to burn it as an mp3 cd to allow for long playlists.
My music folder is close to 10000 files in MANY MANY different folders. So making a long mp3 mixtape would be much easier if I could do it in the same program that already has every song in front of me.
I'm looking at dumping Rhythmbox for a new player on my netbook. I've tried Banshee which seemed good, apart from being quite sluggish (mono?).
Rhythmbox is now dead development wise I think aswell.
Exaile looks interesting, and I've heard good things about Clementine (although may be sluggish as its qt4)
i've recently installed 11.04 and am giving banshee a shot. it seems pretty good although has crashed a few times. but when i import my music folders (about 900GB, 175,000 items .. and growing..) it takes days. that's not such a big problem because it only needs to be indexed once, i assume, ... but the UI is very slow now - so that clicking on an album can take several seconds to bring up the tracklist. also typing into the search box there is a large delay before the matches are shown. is this just to be expected for such a large db? i recall i had google desktop indexing and returning results almost immediately back on winblows.. other ones i have tried include rhythmbox , amarok, songbird .. but have not found any of them to be stable and simple enough to my liking.
can anyone recommend a good player , my essential requirement is a fast and efficient indexing - with tag support would be grand, but just based on filenames is ok too. drag and drop into a play queue like rhthmbox had would be nice.
Can anyone recommend an easily usable media transfer application? That is, I want to copy audio files from my CDs, compress them if possible, perhaps organize & store them on disk, and transfer the ones I want to listen to to a media player. (Currently a Zen Vision:M).
The basic problem (there seem to be lots of ramifications) I've had with Creative's software and the Windows media player is that there doesn't seem to be any obvious way to sensibly organize the audio: it's all based on "albums", "artists", and "songs", where I listen to audio performances. So what I'd like to do is to copy say the two disks of Macbeth (which I can do, but it goes into about a dozen Track xxx files in a directory for each disk), somehow organize that into a unit that I can simply copy to the player and play from beginning to end. This seems to me to be a very basic sort of function, but nothing I've found will do it, at least in a way that I can discover.
I noticed that, when choosing different notes, LMMS not only changes the pitch of the instrument, but also the speed. So, if an instrument makes a sound that lasts about 5 seconds, a really low note can make it last about 10 seconds, and a really high note can last about 1 second. Is there a way to configure how LMMS handles sounds so that it changes their pitch, without changing their speed?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI only upgraded to 9.10 about a week ago and ever since ive had nothing but sound issues i havent ever had any sound issues before. going back to 5.10 or so. ive used 9.04 since it came out without issues also and that definately used pulseaudio now since 9.10 ive had a multitude of weird audio issues rhythmbox and audacious2 both had an issue where audio id be playing would randomly go flat for a small while, and timing would get a bit off (i call it warbling) mplayer doesnt work well with ANY sound output anymore, seeking exponentially takes longer to restart when using pulse, sdl runs like pure snot now with sdls alsa and pulse libs for audio, its choppy and staticy then wine games are also having issues, using alsa OR pulse( with wine-pulse patch) it sounds like pure crap, its extremely choppy and staticy basically almost all the sound on the whole system has issues most of all games and video.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have access to a video stream that is only available in certain areas. I would like to re-broadcast this stream to other users. What method would you suggest? I tried using WebCamStudio but that method basically records my desktop and the video quality degrades to the point of being unable to view it clearly. I've seen some pretty clear re-broadcast streams on justin.tv or ustream, but typically when I ask the operator they're using some type of Windows software. Does anyone have a suggestion for doing this on Ubuntu? Does anyone here do any live streams or re-broadcasts using Ubuntu, or any Linux-based distro?

Well, after a few days, I got bored with it again since I've done so much with it on other Distros, so I installed openSuse 11.3 with KDE last night lol. (Reinstalling Linux distros is just so much fun lol).Anyways, I'm currently running my KDE 4.4 Suse desktop and would like to know what some of you guys have for customizations. I'd like to make my computer real nice with cool themes, icons, widgets and whatever else I can change.

I think I have installed vlc using yast2 & vlc's own repo from non oss dir but not from packmans repo.
I've been trying to play audio CDs in the CD/DVD drive on my machine but I can't get ANY CD Player software to recognize the drive. However, data CDs are read just fine. If I want to play a CD, I have to use the burner drive which is readily seen by all the audio CD software (KsCD, Kaffeine, etc.). I've added myself to the audio, video and cdrom groups but to no avail (I kinda knew it was fruitless to begin with but tried it anyway). I'm running 11.2, 64-bit mode and aside from this minor (but maddening) glitch, I've been very impressed with the distro. I don't want to use the burner for spinnin' platters.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been reading over lots of forum postings, etc on getting the Sirius/XM Player to run on OpenSuse 11.2. I have installed the Firefox plug-in MediaPlayer that allows me to change the player for different types of streams. I have installed the kmplayer as well as the xine-lib and opensuse-codecs. I can bring up the player and then it will show a stream playing but I don't hear anything. I configured my MediaPlayer to have all streams go to the kmplayer.

In the room here are 3 computers with outputs through a Behringer mixer to a Sony surround sound system--it sounds better plus I dont have the spider web of a separate sound system for each machine. 11.2-64 has been excellent so far with the exception of the music player--Amorak. Someone decided to leave out any sound contour tools. I also have Banshee and MPlayer but have experienced various problems with them. Amorak, at least for my use isnt too lame but whoever "They" are decided to do away with the graphic eq.I like the ability to build playlists with Amorak which is missing in some other programs without an exercise in file system manipulation. Any one have suggestions?? One note I will add here is that in Windows 7 64 bit professional, which I am forced to use because of no software for my work written in Linux,running on another machine here-- someone had what I consider the really excellent idea of incorporating a graphic equalizer on the machine output under the Realtek audio package..one eq to control all sounds from that machine--anything like that available for SUSe??

I downloaded and installed the LINUX version of the veetle player from Veetle using the provided shell script. The installation went smoothly but when I tried to launch it afterwards, I got the image here: Veetle meaning that the installation was probably not successful. Has anyone out there successfully installed the player?

i just recently installed open suse so no new software other than what was there on install is added. by the way, i get the kde sounds and can play audio cd's so the sound is working partially. just not for these apps. i have adobe flash installed. i'm new to kde. i have previously used gnome on other computers.
I was asked to make a slideshow of a series of JPEGs; I found the programme "imagination" that is available as an .rpm and I installed it with YaST;it worked well and I produced a couple of straightforward .vob files that could be started from a DVD player connected to a TV; (the intention);I would need to restart YaST to check; but I guess imagination is on packman It has a GU interface and worked well for me.

Which type I/O prefer? Server for XEN use x64 or X86? about WS (without HD. will be use LTSP)?
