OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Looking For An Alternative CD Player To Kscd?

I know you can play them in VLC but for whatever reason CDDB playlists don't work in VLC. Any other CD players out there that I should be looking at?

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Alternative Music Player For 11.2-64?

Mar 30, 2010

SUSe 11.2-64 running on a core quad Intel motherboard. In the room here are 3 computers with outputs through a Behringer mixer to a Sony surround sound system--it sounds better plus I dont have the spider web of a separate sound system for each machine. 11.2-64 has been excellent so far with the exception of the music player--Amorak. Someone decided to leave out any sound contour tools. I also have Banshee and MPlayer but have experienced various problems with them. Amorak, at least for my use isnt too lame but whoever "They" are decided to do away with the graphic eq.I like the ability to build playlists with Amorak which is missing in some other programs without an exercise in file system manipulation. Any one have suggestions?? One note I will add here is that in Windows 7 64 bit professional, which I am forced to use because of no software for my work written in Linux, running on another machine here-- someone had what I consider the really excellent idea of incorporating a graphic equalizer on the machine output under the Realtek audio package..one eq to control all sounds from that machine--anything like that available for SUSe??

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Kaffeine And KsCD Won't Play CDs Or DVDs

Nov 26, 2009

I have recently installed 11.2. I am having some sound woes. Vlc plays CDs and DVDs but Kaffeine won't. KsCD won't play CDs. When I try to use Kaffeine to play a CD I get:

Cannot find input plugin for MRL [cdda:/]
Opening kaffeine in the terminal gives:
user@linux-kxg1:~> kaffeine
user@linux-kxg1:~> CDROMREADTOCHDR: No medium found
CDROMREADTOCHDR: No medium found

When I try to use Kaffeine to play a DVD I get:

Cannot find input plugin for MRL [dvd:/]

Do I have to add anything to /etc/fstab? /dev/cdrom and /dev/dvd are pointing to /dev/sr0, but these apps are not seeing the device.

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Files With 64-bit Kaffeine (favorite Player) Or Any Other 64-bit Video Player?

Jun 25, 2010

I've been away from Linux for a while, so I need to get informed about some of the 32- vs. 64-bit issues concerning video players and codecs. So, what is everyone using these days?

More specifically, is it possible to play, e.g., .wmv files with 64-bit Kaffeine (my favorite player) or any other 64-bit video player? If so, then which combination of player and codec should I use?

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Flash Player Video / Audio Synchronization - OpenSUSE 11.4

Mar 23, 2011

I'm trying to diagnose a weird problem ... maybe someone has an idea where to start. I'm having a problem with flash videos. The video part displays as if the fast-forward button is being held down; audio sounds correct.

I'm thinking "synchronization error" (duh!) but I'm not sure how to start to diagnose the issue. I'm running OpenSUSE 11.4 x64, and the problem shows up in both chrome and opera.

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: 11.2 - How To Run VLC Player As Root

Jan 9, 2010

When I run vlc using root account I get following error in Konsole. In GUI mode it anyway fails to run. I haven't tried running vlc in normal user mode but I use root account always.

Error >
opensuse11.2:~ # vlc
VLC is not supposed to be run as root. Sorry.
If you need to use real-time priorities and/or privileged TCP ports
you can use vlc-wrapper (make sure it is Set-UID root and
cannot be run by non-trusted users first).
opensuse11.2:~ #

I think I have installed vlc using yast2 & vlc's own repo from non oss dir but not from packmans repo.

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: CD/DVD Player Not Recognized?

May 1, 2010

I've been trying to play audio CDs in the CD/DVD drive on my machine but I can't get ANY CD Player software to recognize the drive. However, data CDs are read just fine. If I want to play a CD, I have to use the burner drive which is readily seen by all the audio CD software (KsCD, Kaffeine, etc.). I've added myself to the audio, video and cdrom groups but to no avail (I kinda knew it was fruitless to begin with but tried it anyway). I'm running 11.2, 64-bit mode and aside from this minor (but maddening) glitch, I've been very impressed with the distro. I don't want to use the burner for spinnin' platters.

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Sync Media Player With Amarok?

Jan 31, 2010

I'm struggling to find a way to sync my media player (Sony W995 - it just appears as a disk when plugged in, so it should be OK I think). I can kind of get something working by adding the mount point as a 'Local Music' folder. The problem is, there doesn't seem to be a way of 'syncing' to Local folders. Further more, my music collection is in FLAC format on my PC - but I need to transcode it to mp3 when syncing with my media player. Is this possible? I don't expect to be syncing the other way at all.

Otherwise, I'm stuck with manually transcoding/copying files with Dolphin
