Ubuntu :: Default Panel Clock Shows Up On Middle Of Screen When Moved To Bottom Panel?
Mar 4, 2011I have had this problem with all installations of Maverick Meerkat. Moving the default clock from the upper panel to the lower panel makes it bahave strangely. When clicked on, it now appears in the middle of the screen (sometimes even higher depending on resolution). This never happened prior to Maverick Meerkat.
How do I go about to fix this strange bug?
Attached is a screen shot of what I mean.

Aug 9, 2010There is no clock on my panel after the 11.3 install. I don't get it. I unlock the widgets and there is a digital clock there, but I cannot drag it to the panel, only the desktop. So I suppose there is another way of adding it. The standard clock is not a widget?

May 27, 2011I'm using a very simple conky script to diplay the date and time on my desktop. I've noticed that he conky clock is a few seconds early compared to the time displayed in the right hand side of the top panel (Natty). I guess both displays are based on the same "internal" time, so I'm left wondering how this could happen, and how to sync back the clocks.
It seems that Conky is in sync with the system date, while the panel clock is 2 seconds late (on my system). Checked with while true; do date; sleep 0.1; done

Jan 19, 2011Today my minimising, maximising, and closing buttons on the window border moved from the right to the left without any apparent reason. (At least i dind't ask them to). The other computer I work on didn't change though.
I use Gnome, Dust Sand theme on 10.04.
I really dislike having them there, how can i move them back where they belong?

May 11, 2010My gnome-panel is at the left side of my screen (I use the 'splendid' cairo-dock at the bottom of my screen). But when more than eight windows are open, the dock freezes. The 'Computer' button works, as well as the tray icons. My CPU rushes to 26% constantly. Solution is to kill gnome-panel and it reappears without complaining (if few than 8 windows open).

Jun 28, 2010The clock applet "Clock 2.30.0" in my panel reads correctly on boot, and then never updates itself. When I go to its preferences, time setting is correct and continuously updating, but the display in my panel never changes. I can use "killall-gnomepanel" from terminal, and this rests everything, making the time display correctly. Furthermore, it updates itself afterward... but I'd like the dang thing to function correctly without resorting to that.

The monitor configuration app always want the primary monitor to be on the left hand side, thus it always extend my desktop right. Jun 29, 2010I'm experiencing a strange problem with GNOME Clock on Fedora 13. When the applet is in the bottom panel, and I click on the clock, the popup display appears at the top of the screen rather than at the bottom of the screen (above the bottom panel) as would be expected. Worse, the display appears higher than would be expected had the clock been on the top panel, meaning the display is cutoff (ie, the display goes off the top of the screen). I've tried playing with my .gconf files, and removing and re-adding the GNOME Clock applet, but nothing has worked. I'm not sure if this is a weird quirk particular to my settings, or a more general bug; can readers here check to see if the behavior I've described occurs if the Clock applet is added to the bottom panel?

I will set it to the correct time, but every time I reboot it will be wrong by several hours. I have never had a problem in previous versions and I have always set the clock by right-clicking on the clock -> Preferences ->Time Settings. Am I doing something wrong or is there an easy way to synchronize with a time server?

Jul 25, 2011Have searched net and Chromium sites for solution, but can't find anything.I am using a left panel as my primary panel with a hidden panel below. Works fine with Firefox and all system windows, but is shifted to the right so that the close button is not visible when on Chromium. When I click on the maximize button(just barely visible, the Chromium window returns to the correct size.
When moving the panel back up to the top, everything is hunky dorkey.Are there config files somewhere that need changing to accommodate the existance of the left panel?Or any other ideas for solutions. Not a life or death problem, but a bit of an irritation.
Ubuntu :: Won't Gnome Panel Clock Show Local Time / Why Is So?
Sep 30, 2010When I travel, I would like to tell my laptop that I, as a user, am in a different time zone that what the OS may think is local. And I would like the clock on my desktop (default Gnome bar date/time display) to show the local time.
Instead, I currently have to use sudo and change the system time... (click on the clock, choose time settings, set system time -- there are no other choices given). The applet thing allows me to add other locations, but they only show up if I click on the icon, as extra times below the main one.
Am I missing something? Using the wrong app?

Nov 4, 2010Toshiba notebook is set up to triple boot win7, mepis 8.5 and os 11.3.Recent update of os11.3 left system with boot failure, "file not found".I booted mepis and used utility to reinstall grub, but no joy.
Appeared to install ok but on reboot, sda5 identified as 'mepis' not os11.3 and would not boot. Win7 & mepis boot ok.
Next, booted live Parted Magic and repaired as per another thread here, but again, no joy.NONE of the systems will boot.Rebooted mepis live cd and reinstalled grub again. Sda5 still identified as mepis and will not boot. Win7 & mepis boot ok.
