OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Cover Art Plugin Won't Load Because It Fails To Import Python-gstreamer

I've been using OpenSUSE 11.4 with GNOME for quite a while now and so far I've been a happy camper. This morning I decided to try GNOME 3 and the install went smoothly, with the only exception of rhytmbox(my music player of choice) not being available.Later I found rhythmbox for GNOME 3 in this repo: Index of /repositories/ GNOME:/ Apps/openSUSE_11.4+GNOME_STABLE_3.0.It works well but the Cover Art plugin won't load because it fails to import python-gstreamer.Should I report a bug against OpenSUSE 11.4 or maybe I am doing something wrong?
After a fresh custom install of Squeeze I could not play any video. debian-multimedia.org repository is in my sources.list. Trying to play an AVI video with totem I get the message

Plugin Error:Unable to activate plugin Cover Art.Going to the plugin page, I was supprised to find that most of the installed plugins would not load. Without any info being offered in the player, I looked on line. Many people had problems with other plugins, and most of the time it was a problem with an uninstalled python package. But I checked on this site and I found that I had all of these packages installed. (Well, the python ones at least, to check all of them would take forever.)

Just installed Clementine audio player, but it won't play mp4s. It says gstreamer is missing a plugin, google search turned up some leads but they didn't lead anywhere. Mp4s work fine in Amarok, and i have already installed the restricted extras package.
I have found a "plugin" for Exaile that can move its local cover art to your actual mp3 collection folders (see at the bottom). But what do I do with such a .diff file?!
How can I fix the following, borderline irritating issue?
I've tried all of VLCs different Video Output Methods. It didn't use to have this behaviour either, it just began happening now. My taskbar is set to "Always Visible" as I hate "Auto Hide" and I don't want my windows to go above or below it...
It would appear that novell openoffice 3.2.1.4 on opensuse 11.3 fails to correctly import pps/ppt files. Slide transition data is lost and this results in presentations without sound. This problem does not exist in openoffice from openoffice.org. openoffice from openoffice.org will play pps files with sound which will not play with openoffice from Novell. However the openoffice.org version requires JMF.
JMF is old and 32 bit. I have tested openoffice 3.2.1 from openoffice.org with JMF on a 32 bit 11.2 system and it works. I assume that JMF will not work with a 64 bit JRE. I also assume that it would be difficult to get a 32 bit jre to work with a 64 bit openoffice FMJ is an alternative to JMF. It plays various types of audio including mp3 and wav. It is packaged for installation on 11.3. Does anybody know if this works in place of JMF with openoffice from openoffice.org on a 64 bit system?
If you had Gimp 2.6 (with gimp-plugin-registry installed) and installed Gimp 2.7 to try its new goodies, but Layer Effects are not showing, and when executing "gimp" from console you get these *nasty* errors:

If you haven't install the 2.7 version yet. Before upgrading, backup "python" directory and then just restore it after installing 2.7.
I installed an MP3 plugin, and tried to play a podcast on Rhythmbox, and was presented with an error message, which said: Your GStreamer installation is missing a plugin. How can I remedy this?

I just installed Rhythmbox and the gstreamer fluendo package for mp3 support. But i am confused which package I should install to have AAC support. I am running OpenSuSE 11.3 64bits with LXDE
When i try to run pitivi i get the following message and it closes down. "Install a version of the GStreamer Python bindings greater or equal to 0.10.19" without the quotes.What do I need to do? Where is the deb package for gstreamer needed?
My totem can't watch any video but vlc is so good. this is my Problem: screenshot 1 : after select a video screenshot2: do it as that i installed total gstream plugin( "total" as in ubuntu) and used codec win but not solved.
I've just made the move to openSUSE* and after the installer seemed to bork my xorg.conf because of my Wacom tablet things have been going quite smoothly. My only problem at the moment is that MP3 playback through Exaile, Banshee or Totem stutters and pauses several times per track or more. The only commonality I can see is GStreamer, but nothing is giving me errors to the console.
* I ditched Fedora to get better Monodevelop support after using Redhat 7.3 and 9 followed by FC 3 and 6 then Fedora 7, 8, 9 and 10. The Ubuntu forums seemed to keep giving me occasional answers to questions, but the Suse build service gave me the RPMs, when the requirements matched.

Is there a configure options doc that I missed somewhere? Python2.6 works as expected, with readline, Tkinter, cigarette lighter... the works!
I am unable to load the GUI in opensuse 11.1. When booting I get the normal opensuse loading screen but about half way through the screen goes black. If I hit alt-f1 I can see the start up info. The problems looks like when it tries to load gdm. It shows a couple of Warnings saying "GdmDisplay: display lasted .8135.. seconds. The findal warning says "GdmLocalDisplayFactory: maximum number of X display failures reached: check X server log for errors." I did do a couple of updates yesterday before shutting down but am not sure what they were.
I've been using kubuntu for a while, and I've been having this issue since the release of the 2.6.32-23 kernel. Originally, I thought it was related to my raid array and this bug: [URL] I'm still not convinced they're not related, but there is also apparently the possiblity of an nvidia driver issue. Previously, I rebooted infrequently, and I had a spare hard drive installed, so my grub menu would always appear (as it detected an alternate OS on this drive) and it was trivial to select the 2.6.32-22 kernel. Since I installed all updates, including the -35 kernel, it ran update-grub and now I have to press shift when I reboot. Specs/Summary:
when I boot with -22 or earlier, everything works great. when I boot with -23 or later, I get the kubuntu splash screen, followed by it switching to tty2, then I get it switched back to where the X screen should be, with the system log displayed, and then it switches back to tty2. After installing -35, I panicked a bit as I'd never had the grub screen not show (not knowing about the shift key), and so I poked around logs and it showed nvidia driver errors. I tried removing my xorg.conf file and rebooted, and I got the desktop to show again. I prefer the nvidia driver as I sometimes use dual monitors.
The whole day was more or less spent reinstalling a basic Gnome Ubuntu system. Everything went swimmingly until I started with the XBMC part of the installation. After wrestling with PPAs and apt-get for hours I finally got it installed, but then it all turned awkward in a hurry. It simply refused to start up. I clicked the icon and nothing happened for a good few seconds. The screen then flickered black for an instant, but after that nothing. I started from a terminal and it showed an error message saying it couldn't import Python's os and shutil modules. I found that mighty strange since both modules are part of the Python Standard Library.
Finally, in a bizarre twist, it turns out this doesn't seem to be a XBMC problem, suddenly apt-get started complaining too. TL,DR: I (nor the system) can't import any Standard Library modules in Python in Ubuntu! Is this a path problem? Or have I actually managed to uninstall some vital python packages, if so which ones? I am running Ubuntu 10.10, but I don't think this is necessarily a Ubuntu specific problem. I just installed Opensuse 11.2, and have come across the following error upon bootup: the display manager screen refuses to load, unless I type STARTX at the cli line. the error messages read: failed services in runlevel 5 /etc/init.d/xdm.orig start returned 6 earlyxdm postfix Further, I am unable to activate the xdm service under Yast. Has anyone else run across this error? Not sure how to resolve.
I upgraded to jessie today and I am having problems with my background. When I log in, the background tries to start on the external monitor but then it fails to load. I can change the background in settings but it does not show up. The background just becomes black and I am not sure why.
I connect my iPod to the computer, open Amarok, and select the "Copy To -- Local Collection" option. I have over 2,000 songs on my iPod, but only 638 are imported. There is no rhyme or reason to which songs are imported and which are not.
Individually selecting the unimported songs and attempting to copy them is unsuccessful. I have followed the multimedia installation guide to the letter with success.
ok i have some family videos i want on my ipod touch. i got them converted to mp4 format, but im having trouble trying to import them to my ipod. i have opensuse 11.4 if that helps also my ipod is jailbroken
so I'm enjoying the new Banshee grid list which is really great, but with just one problem. It displays multiple cover art, so I have a really lot of picture for just one album with various artists. I'd like there to be just one, can it be done?
I updated to ubuntu 11.04. Now I have banshee instead of rythmbox. However I cannot see anymore any of my covers. All my mp3 have the cover embedded in the mp3 itself. I have never had any problem before. Also by reinstalling rythmbox I cannot see anymore the covers..
