OpenSUSE Multimedia :: VLC Fullscreen Doesn't Cover The Taskbar?
Dec 4, 2009
How can I fix the following, borderline irritating issue?
I've tried all of VLCs different Video Output Methods. It didn't use to have this behaviour either, it just began happening now. My taskbar is set to "Always Visible" as I hate "Auto Hide" and I don't want my windows to go above or below it...
I upgraded to VirtualBox 3.2.0, and I finally installed Windows XP Professional onto it. Anyways, have any of you noticed that when you set the VM to fullscreen, you cannot access the taskbar at all? The icon for the cursor reverts to my Linux cursor, showing that the focus switched to Linux somehow in someway. The taskbar is set to always show, and this happens at the EXACT pixel that the panel starts at. It's pretty annoying if I say so myself. Forgot to mention, that this only happens with the mouse integration, and not mouse capture (for obvious reasons). Using: Windows XP Professional 32-bit (guest, and running SP3 with all updates) on VirtualBox 3.2.0 hosted by Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit (using KDE).
I've been using OpenSUSE 11.4 with GNOME for quite a while now and so far I've been a happy camper. This morning I decided to try GNOME 3 and the install went smoothly, with the only exception of rhytmbox(my music player of choice) not being available.Later I found rhythmbox for GNOME 3 in this repo: Index of /repositories/ GNOME:/ Apps/openSUSE_11.4+GNOME_STABLE_3.0.It works well but the Cover Art plugin won't load because it fails to import python-gstreamer.Should I report a bug against OpenSUSE 11.4 or maybe I am doing something wrong?
Once i get full screen playback i can't go back while playing vimeo videos. Can't alt+tab, switch desktops, escape, f, ctrl+f, f11. Only ctrl+alt+F<number> works and there I can kill chromium process to kill vimeo. (posted on chrome bugs already, but maybe anyone has this issue too?) Anyone knows fix or workaround?
when i make flash videos fullscreen, it puts black bars at all around and the video is the same size as before. this is using Firefox. this is driving me crazy and NONE of the various workarounds on the forum work.
SMplayer plays every .mkv i have but i cant seem to hide the top gui bar when it goes full screen. smplayer seem to be the only player that i know plays any .mkv. while others i get a 264h errors and vlc can play most .mkv files but not all the ones i have.(tried Banshee, wine, totem) So i'm just looking for a quick fix Are there any other players that can play .mkv files (fullscreen with no annoying bars)or how do i hide the tool bar in smplayer when it goes fullscreen? (because i can't seem to find a hide option for the gui)
I don't really want to fix the 264h.errors it just.. bleh i've been surfing the web for a few hours trying to find a fix and it's been very time consuming.
Whenever I play a video via vlc or kaffeine and I switch to full screen I get lag. If I move my mouse to show the controls it plays perfectly. How can I fix my full screen playback issues?
Sometimes in BBC iPlayer - Bigscreen the fullscreen video does not open on top, and then none of the lirc remote control commands (irxevent) function, not even Escape (nor Alt-TAB, which would bring the fullscreen on top if I used the keyboard - but sitting in the TV couch I would prefer using the remote only).
This often happens on my SuSE 10.2 partition, especially when wanting to resume a video, but never happens on my Kubuntu 9.10 partition. Both are 32-bit using KDE 4.3.5 Firefox 3.5.8 and Adobe Flash 10,0,45,2.
so I'm enjoying the new Banshee grid list which is really great, but with just one problem. It displays multiple cover art, so I have a really lot of picture for just one album with various artists. I'd like there to be just one, can it be done?
I updated to ubuntu 11.04. Now I have banshee instead of rythmbox. However I cannot see anymore any of my covers. All my mp3 have the cover embedded in the mp3 itself. I have never had any problem before. Also by reinstalling rythmbox I cannot see anymore the covers..
Banshee (Version 1.5.2) doesn't seem to support cover art for tracks that include non ascii characters in any way. All manual methods that work with ascii tracks failed (folder.jpg in album folder, copying appropriately named jpg in ~/.cache/album-art, embedding jpg in mp3 metadata). This is really quite a drawback for users who don't have an English-only music collection. Is there any workaround or bugfix that I missed or do I have to go back to Rhythmbox to have non-English cover art?
recently downloaded banshee and found it pretty useful. however in the notes for the latest release it says that there is an option to have the cover artin the lower left hand corner. i can't figure out how to get to work at all. i have ubuntu 9.10 and Banshe1.6 Beta 2.would anyone have ideas please? i've spent a couple of hours on this and theres nothing on the net.
Just as the title says, the fullscreen feature in Flash video players such as ..... does not work in Fedora 13 on my computer. Videos play fine in the window, though. When I press the fullscreen button, the area where the video was playing turns gray and the sound stops playing. I've tried fiddling with some settings in Compiz but it didn't seem to help. I had Flash Player 10 installed initially, when it started having this problem, and then I installed 10.1 and it continued doing this.
I was having trouble with the sound of the wmv files on linux, but i solved it by coping the w32 dll libraries and now it works just fine. There is one problem though : whatever player i use to open and play a wmv file (mplayer, vlc), it doesn't fit the full screen - in windows the same movie DOES.
When I run Sims3 in Wine, the game happily switches video mode and runs fullscreen... but the global menu bar doesn't autohide, and there's no way to get it to hide manually. I've checked the Unity plugin in the compiz settings control panel, but there don't seem to be any settings at all for the global main menu there.
In Windows 7 when you hover over an open application in the taskbar, it shows a small image of that application. Is there a way this can be done in Linux?
I'm not sure if this is a bug for firefox, kde, kubuntu, or adobe flash playerbut every time I go on an online video site like ..... I see a lot oftearing. And when I say a lot of tearing I mean tearing when their is barelyany motion at all. I know that my video driver isn't the problem because when Iswitch to fullscreen any tearing that their might be is barely noticeable. AlsoI haven't noticed the problem while in gnome. Reproducible:AlwaysSteps to Reproduce:1. Watch an online video while in kde2.3.Actual Results: Tearing while watching videos regardless of the amount of motion
I am using VirtualBox and I installed the Guest additions successfully. Host F does not work as it is not the problem. The resolution under monitor is 800x600. I had the same problem in Fedora where I modified the xorg.conf however Ubuntu does not have the file located in /etc/X11/...
I tried adding it with the same xorg.conf from my Fedora Virtual machine but that screwed up my display and had to fix it from the terminal.
Not sure why Ubuntu 10 doesn't have an xorg.conf or how to fix the display if not from xorg.conf?
I am having problems with huludesktop not displaying videos in full screen. I launch huludesktop and maximize it so that it is full screen but the video is displayed in letter box. When I watch the same video via chrome it displays it without the letter box. I am running mythbuntu 10.10 (64 bit)and I have the problem using both the flash via ndiswrapper and via the native 64 bit version (10.2 I think) from the seven machines ppa. I am running the most recent version of huludesktop.
I'm using ubuntu 11.04 with Unity 2d as my hardware is too old to run the original one. I was previously using Lubuntu but after a slight RAM upgrade decided to use Ubuntu. Now I can't watch full screen video's online which is not the problem as it's always been like this with every distro I've used but now I can't even watch full screen videos in VLC, totem or any other media player for that matter, it'll either lag or completely freeze my system and this worked in Lubuntu fine
I have a ATI radeon x1550 video card flash run slow (very low fps) but didn't crash I installed x.org/fglrx-amdcccle flash runs very nice but crashes on full screen.
I've searched and tried flash-aid and reinstalling flash nether worked. I've also removed x.org/fglrx-amdcccle and it stopped the crashing but made the videos unwatchable (low fps).
*Useing 11.04 ubuntu *Does the same thing whit my old ATI 9550
I have recently switched to Debian and got everything working great except for one thing..When I want to kill some time by playing a game (in wine or native) in fullscreen it works fine except for a big number I get in the left corner of my screen that won't go away until I close the game and open the ATI control center. This is very frustrating and quite annoying. I am using a dual monitor setup and I have tried disabling my 2nd monitor when I play a game but that still causes this problem. Also I am using the drivers I got right off the ATI website.
I have just installed my gstreamer on my ARM board. In that i used to play the video by using command "gst-launch filesrc location=/root/yuvraj.mp4 ! mfw_mp4demuxer ! queue max-size-time=0 ! mfw_vpudecoder ! mfw_v4lsink"it is working fine. but the screen is very small and it is in middle, How to make that full screen and the letters which is in terminal is also coming along with the video. how rectify that problem
Vsync works normally, but when I try to watch video in fullscreen (be it ....., VLC or mplayer), the vsync just doesn't work and the screen tearing is terrible. I'm using the nvidia-nonfree 195.36.15 drivers (installed through the hardware drivers), on an nvidia geforce 8800 GTS 512 card.
I am using lucid and the adobe-flashplugin 10 package. When I watch programmes in fullscreen on the BBC iPlayer or Channel4-on-demand player it works fine but switches back to windowed mode after about 5 or 10 minutes. I put it back into fullscreen and the same thing happens after the same sort of time. I read this thread about flash switching out of fullscreen when the volume is adjusted, but I'm not adjusting the volume...how can I fix this?
