This morning I decided to try GNOME 3 and the install went smoothly, with the only exception of rhytmbox(my music player of choice) not being available.Later I found rhythmbox for GNOME 3 in this repo: Index of /repositories/ GNOME:/ Apps/openSUSE_11.4+GNOME_STABLE_3.0.It works well but the Cover Art plugin won't load because it fails to import python-gstreamer.Should I report a bug against OpenSUSE 11.4 or maybe I am doing something wrong?

I should note that the flac is a rip of an actual Mono Vinyl disc. Am not exactly sure how that was done but I was interested in converting some those files to ogg & mp3. OGG conversion doesn't give any error.

Without any info being offered in the player, I looked on line. Many people had problems with other plugins, and most of the time it was a problem with an uninstalled python package. But I checked on this site and I found that I had all of these packages installed. (Well, the python ones at least, to check all of them would take forever.)

Software :: Cannot Uninstall Flash-plugin From Yast - Deleted Flash-Plugin Directory
Aug 15, 2010In my frustration to get adobe flash working in firefox I deleted the /usr/lib/flash-plugin folder. Now when I try to uninstall "Flash-Plugin" from YAST it fails as it can't find the sub-folder. I also cannot install the latest version of flash player as it says that it is already installed - So I am stuck in a loop.
I am running SUSE 11.2.
Is there a config file of installed programs that I can modify to remove the "Flash-Plugin" entry, or is there another way to get over this problem.

Sep 15, 2009basically what i'm trying to do is get sound from flash videos on videos. my plan is to use gnash to play flash files within firefox. since gnash uses gstreamer to output audio and since i'm using jack for playback, i need to somehow route gstreamer to jack. does anyone know how to do that? here is an ubuntu thread that may help, but i'm not sure how to translate that to fedora. i'm already able to hear the sine tone from running:

Fedora :: How To Disable / Enable Gstreamer
Jun 23, 2010how to disable gstreamer???? (and be able to re-enable it also?) i don't want to totally remove gstreamer - as it is required by alot of software. however, when i am using
proaudio apps with low-latency having gstreamer enabled is a problem. this is because ( i think ) that my crappy intel-hda (STAC9200) only has one sub-device, while many other cards have multiple.
so when gstreamer is there, i will get more xruns, and a nasty message in dmesg, something along the lines of "intel-hda switching to polling mode". overall performance of the card will suck. BUT! if gstreamer is NOT there, i can run low-latency(2ms) with pretty much no xruns(jackd). the only time i get the odd one is if i am switching drum banks in a wine VST.
well, i remove pulseaudio when i install Fedora, gstreamer doesn't work properly after that, you can't use rhythmbox, or anything. but you will get much better latencies and generally the card is very useful. ie: i can manipulate many sounds/samples/synths in realtime, or actually record in ardour with a decent load...

Aug 15, 2011I have this computer I actively use. Sys-admin forbids us from using third party repos. Compiling from source is allowed if a copy of the source sent to him. He made it clear he won't help unless system is fubar.Because I choosed fedora, I ended up with only pc in whole room which cannot play music and video. I have root access so;I got lame from sourceforge and gstreamer ugly 0.10.16 from freedesktop.I did '.configure','make' and 'make install' on lame and gstreamer. I wasn't able to read the whole stream of text flowed by make and make install, but other than few "defined but not used" errors I didn't seen any big errors.I tried play mp3 with totem but it failed. I tried extract the post and pre install scripts from gstreamer-plugins-bad-0.10.22-1.fc15.i686.rpm fo rpmfusion to learn what else needed to done after/before install, but post and pre scripts were empty. Do I have to do something else to get it to work?

May 18, 2011I'm using KDE and after some update GStreamer seems to be broken. Firstly it was unable to play sound at all, and I've got around this by changing Phonon preferred engine to Xine. But Clementine is still unable to play with error message:

Dec 8, 2010I am able to compile gstreamer just fine, but when I port it to the platform where I want to use gstreamer gst-inspect comes back with: "can't cd to /home/MY_HOME_FOLDER".
MY_HOME_FOLDER is the folder where gstreamer and all of its tools got compiled in.
So, how do I tell configure script (or whatever decides to remember this path) to use common Linux paths so when I port gst-inspect to /usr/bin it would work OK?
Slackware :: Gstreamer Won't Play Any Of M4a Files
Jun 30, 2010I just reinstalled slackware on my computer so that I could have the 64 bit version and take advantage of all the ram in this machine. Anyway I did a brand new install Slackware64 13.1 from the dvd. I omitted the KDE packages and instead installed Gnome via the GSB project. After all that installed with seemingly no problem I opened up Rhythmbox and imported all my music, but it won't play any of my m4a files. A little research showed that installing gst-plugins-bad would solve this. So I downloaded it and built it from source, no problems in the configuring it or making it. But the problem persists. Here's a list from slapt-get search for gst showing the gstreamer packages that are installed...
