Code:
make distclean
./configure
make
make install
ImportError: No module named _tkinter
readline support for the interpreter seems to be gone
a few other oddities here and there
Is there a configure options doc that I missed somewhere? Python2.6 works as expected, with readline, Tkinter, cigarette lighter... the works!
If you had Gimp 2.6 (with gimp-plugin-registry installed) and installed Gimp 2.7 to try its new goodies, but Layer Effects are not showing, and when executing "gimp" from console you get these *nasty* errors:
Code: This is a development version of GIMP. Debug messages may appear here. gimp-user-install: migrating from /home/user/.gimp-2.6 Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/layerfx.py", line 23, in <module> import gimp, gimpplugin, math ImportError: No module named gimp .....
If you haven't install the 2.7 version yet. Before upgrading, backup "python" directory and then just restore it after installing 2.7.
The whole day was more or less spent reinstalling a basic Gnome Ubuntu system. Everything went swimmingly until I started with the XBMC part of the installation. After wrestling with PPAs and apt-get for hours I finally got it installed, but then it all turned awkward in a hurry. It simply refused to start up. I clicked the icon and nothing happened for a good few seconds. The screen then flickered black for an instant, but after that nothing. I started from a terminal and it showed an error message saying it couldn't import Python's os and shutil modules. I found that mighty strange since both modules are part of the Python Standard Library.
Finally, in a bizarre twist, it turns out this doesn't seem to be a XBMC problem, suddenly apt-get started complaining too. TL,DR: I (nor the system) can't import any Standard Library modules in Python in Ubuntu! Is this a path problem? Or have I actually managed to uninstall some vital python packages, if so which ones? I am running Ubuntu 10.10, but I don't think this is necessarily a Ubuntu specific problem. Here are some dumps to show the error messages: (I forgot to copy the XBMC error message, but it looked exactly the same as these below, i.e., it couldn't import the os module) First from apt-get:
Code:
tv@tv:/usr/lib$ sudo apt-get autoremove [sudo] password for tv: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree
I've been using OpenSUSE 11.4 with GNOME for quite a while now and so far I've been a happy camper. This morning I decided to try GNOME 3 and the install went smoothly, with the only exception of rhytmbox(my music player of choice) not being available.Later I found rhythmbox for GNOME 3 in this repo: Index of /repositories/ GNOME:/ Apps/openSUSE_11.4+GNOME_STABLE_3.0.It works well but the Cover Art plugin won't load because it fails to import python-gstreamer.Should I report a bug against OpenSUSE 11.4 or maybe I am doing something wrong?
I have installed wxPython on my Ubuntu 9.10. But when I type"import wxPython" in "python environment it returns the followingerror.Does it need a PATH to be added in ".bashrc"? If so what should I write as a PATH for it?
>>> import wxPython Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module>
We are using centos6 and every time we try to install the key we get key 1 import error btw we are linux newbies so if you do help please try and spell things out cle
Python version 2.6 worked fine but since updating to version 3.1 and now 3.2 I cannot get beyond this error. I have also downloaded and installed APSW v3.7.5
I want to use LaTeX text in Inkscape. Just a simple thing like $$x_i$$. There is an extension called textext with installation manual. Basically one have to copy four files into /usr/share/inkscape/extensions and one more option appears in Extensions menu. So far so good.
If I try to use that extension I get an error message: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/share/inkscape/extensions/inklatex.py", line 7, in <module> import xml.dom.ext.reader.Sax2 ImportError: No module named ext.reader.Sax2
Googling you can find several topics about that error from 2004 or earlier saying to install PyXML and providing a link to it, where it is said "Out of date. Do not use it." I have tried to build that PyXML though -- without success (lots of compile errors).
I am getting a error bellow error msg when running gns3, can some explain what needs to be done. Cant import Qt modules, PyQt is probably not installed?

the real issue is that when i install a package that require python the package wont install and say error:
I get this missing dependency: Error: Missing Dependency: python(abi) = 2.3 I've tried to find this, but can find only references to it in past versions of Fedora (<9). I'm running F11.
Last night software updater notification showed 29 updates. I was building a liveCD image so decided create the image first then install the updates. After the updates were finished, I did a reboot because some packages required it, I logged on successfully, then I shutdown for the night. This morning when I executed the same command used to create the liveCD image, I get the following error.
I'm encountering a python error in the beginning of the upgrade. See screenshot. How can this be solved or should I indeed file a bug report? Problem is that except for taking the picture, I've been unable to save the info.
I am trying to install vodafone mobile connect 2.10 (noarch.rpm) but keep getting a python = 2.6 is needed by python-sq*. I had Python 2.6 installed and upgraded to 2.6.6, but still got the error. What could I be doing wrong or what repositories are short on my openSuse 11.0 to have the installation work. I downloaded the correct version of vodafone for my system.
For example, I want to install a texteditor called Editra, i done it like the following
First, I install the Editra sudo apt-get install Editra - success ,its version is 0.5.30
Second, I run it in Terminal Editra - it can work, but with the error infos "(python:1682): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_add_accelerator: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed"
Third, I used command line "dpkg -L Editra", and found that the Editra is installed under /usr/share/pyshared/Editra,so i created the .desktop like this sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/Editra.desktop
It showed, and I clicked it for running, but it told me error infos Could not launch 'Editra' Failed to execute child process "/usr/share/pyshared/Editra" (Permission denied) Not just Editra, so many software that written in python have the same question, such as tortoisehg...
The system is Debian Squeeze/Sid with apt.conf set to Squeeze as the default. Most packages are from Squeeze.
I ran apt-get upgrade and it returned an error-code.
It might be it is this bug: Bug#574153: python-pkg-resources: Missing file leaves it unconfigured
I tried aptitude install -f, to hold it and to remove the package python-pkg-resources, but i am getting told the package would be in a very bad stage, and i should re-install it. That doesn't work.
I'm trying to install Openshot 1.1.3. from source on Mandriva 2010. I don't understand what else I should do apart from the command "sudo python setup.py install", but clearly this isn't enough, because I get the following error message:
Error: invalid Python installation: unable to open /usr/lib/python2.6/config/Makefile (No such file or directory)
I've put the tarball at /usr/share/openshot-1.1.3. According to Software Management, I have python2.6 installed (and the other dependencies mentioned in the README), but what do I know. (I tried using an RPM file from rpm.pbone.net [URL], but that didn't work out either, I don't know whether this is the easier route or not.)
I am building a python script which works same as SMTP protocol. I have build separate functions in that for each command of SMTP, and after this i have integrated all those functions in a new function named as send_mail(so that i don't have to execute every function separately for every command). Now, when i execute the script for the first time it runs successfully, but for the second time it gives the error of "BROKEN PIPE". I really can't make out how the socket is getting closed.
I installed mysqld with yum then yum quit working with this error:http://yum.baseurl.org/ticket/70 when mysqld is stopped yum works again. what does a running instance of mysqld have in common with a python yum package manager?
Miro worked well with Wheezy. When I upgraded to Jessie Miro started generating a python error as such:
Code: Select all~$ miro using /usr/bin/miro.real Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/miro.real", line 183, in <module> from miro import startfrontend File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.7/miro/startfrontend.py", line 53, in <module>
[Code] ....
I have been searching for a few weeks trying to find an answer to no avail. I tried three different kernels, renaming ~/.miro, checked all dependencies. I reported it as a bug which sat there for a few days and disappeared.
Just installed Debian 8 last night and trying to run one a few of my scripts that use easygui (a front-end for python-tk basically) and I keep getting alloc: invalid block any time a file or folder selection dialog is presented. I'm able to select a file/folder with no issues, but once the dialog closes I get a variation of what appears to be a memory error followed by alloc: invalid block.
Here's one of my scripts that does it. This one pops up a file selection dialog pretty early on to ask for a file to check, and as soon as I select any file the dialog closes and that error appears in the terminal. It happens whether I run it with Python 2 or Python 3. You will need to install python3-easygui for this script to run properly if you want to check for yourself what happens. This is a first time encountering this error for me.
I wanted to save a python program because I am reading byte of python and I went to save in !/usr/bin. When I try to save in this folder I get this error "[Errno 13] Permission denied: 'usr/bin/helloworld.py'.
