In [URL] I can right-click on a flash video and have the option to access "local settings" under "Settings" to specify configuration for webcam, mic, etc. But in Facebook I need to adjust a setting and the "Setting" option for local config is gray-ed out, I can't access it.
I'm running OpenSUSE 11.4, and I've seen this in GNOME and KDE within Firefox.
Originally, the embedded flash video played just fine on Ubuntu 9.10 by Adobe Reader 9.0. However, when the same video was replayed on an upgraded Ubuntu 10.10, the video part was fine fine while the audio couldn't be heard. Anyone encountered the same problem? Anyway to fix it?

On my office PC with Intel Core i5 x4 / 8GB RAM / Intel's in-CPU video card / Opensuse 11.4 adobe flash is very slow it is impossible to watch fullscreen ..... videos even in 480p. But on my home PC everything is just fine and CPU is AMD Athlon II 645 x3 - it is much slower... video card is ATI 5770 with AMD's proprietary drivers. May be Intel's on-CPU video card is slowing down flash video playback? Or may be i need to install other video drivers?
View 9 Replies View RelatedHow to install Adobe Flash on my netbook. I recently installed openSUSE 11.4 which I am guessing is the newest one. I also am using Mozilla Firefox 4.0 Beta 12. I can't seem to install it at all. First I downloaded the YUM file and tried installing it with some weird program that came with openSUSE and it is just too difficult. I definitely do not know how to use it. Then I read I should be installing the tar.gz file and so I did. Even then people have different ways of installing it. The easiest way I have seen has been the way Adobe's website tells how to install it.
Installation instructions for tar.gz
1. Click the download link to begin installation. A dialog box will appear asking you where to save the file.
2. Save the .tar.gz file to your desktop and wait for the file to download completely.
3. Unpackage the file.
4. Copy the libflashplayer.so file to the plugins folder of your browser. Refer to your browser vendor for the location of this folder.
5. To verify the plug-in is installed in your Mozilla browser, launch Mozilla and choose Help > About Plug-ins from the browser menu.
Now my problem is that when it tells me to copy "Copy the libflashplayer.so file to the plugins folder of your browser" I cannot find the "plugins" folder in my mozilla/firefox folder. Now I'm actually wondering if it's because it a Beta version of Mozilla Firefox. I'm not very good with "coding" and "commands".
Why is it that Adobe Flash frequently crashes on Firefox 4. I'm using opensuse 11.4 64bit ed. Is gnash better for ...... This is getting really annoying.

Some research has turned up webcam_server Project Home Page but unfortunately it only supports v4l, not v4l2 and is no longer maintained. Iceweasel, Konqueror, makes no difference. Embedded flash videos make them crash every time. I had to install Flash Control on Iceweasel just to make it usable.

The kicker is I can't recall ever installing flash support in the first place.

I'm running xubuntu 10.04 32bit on this particular machine, and have embedded flash video from blip.tv not showing in my browsers (Chromium daily, and Firefox). Just doesn't display. I'm using the standard flashplugin-installer package, and have tried reinstalling it with no luck. I've also tried going directly to blip.tv and they do not display either. Embedded videos from other sites play fine, it's just blip.tv. They also do not display or load on the blip.tv site.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using 10.10 and am searching for a program to adjust the settings on my webcam. I am using webcamd to upload pictures to a weathercam. I can use Cheese for viewing the output but the adjustments made there don't stick when I close Cheese.
It appears there used to be a package called gqcam which may have done the trick, but I can't find it in the repositories anymore. There is a current tar.gz package available but I'm hesitant to use it since I don't know why it was removed from the repositories. Does it conflict with the recent video changes in Ubuntu and what conflicts could it cause now or when I attempt to upgrade?
Heres my question: Is there a program available for Ubuntu which will allow me to adjust the settings of my webcam or is gqcam still compatible with Ubuntu? Bonus points for a .deb package.
I was wondering if anyone else ran into and issue with 11.3 with an IBM x3650 server using the embedded graphics card. As a reference this exact machine was working under 11.2. I am aware that there were significant changed in how video works in 11.3.
While installing and during the initial start of the operating system I can see graphical output, OPEN SUSE logo and such.
During the boot process the screen goes blank. The server is still running and I am able to ssh to the machine, but there is no access to the console.
Below is a segment of the /var/log/boot.msg that shows some errors. I can provide more logs if that would assist in tracking this down.
I did a quick google search on ES1000 and i2c and saw the same errors reported with Ubuntu version but nothing for OPENSUSE. There seemed to be a bug that was fixed in that kernel.

i un-installed, then re-installed the stock adobe flash recommended on my ubuntu software center twice, logged off/back in, rebooted, tried everything i know, but it just keeps showing that it crashed. i can't pull up anything on videos, and it crashes quickly with other sites?

For some reason I've been trying to update my flash player and every time I try and do this from the terminal it tells me that the command can't be found, even though the zip file that contains the update is executable and my PATH has been set to include the directory that said file is in. I spent 2 hours with Sam on IRC #Ubuntu and went through a very involved investigation of the problem. At the end, still no sound.The sound worked perfectly before the Adobe upgrade. To be clear, now have no sound period, no system sound, no playback sound, no sound online, offline, nada.I am running Ubuntu 10.04, which I don't want to update at this time. I'm running this OS on a desktop PC and have no idea what sound card I have.I recently installed a new ALSA mixer and have checked to be sure nothing is muted. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using Ubuntu for quite sometime and did have some problems getting it to work on my 64bit installation. I had it working fine since I fixed some issues I had when I first installed my current system (10.04 64 bit).
I have updated through the Update Manager today, and after restarting I got into ..... and started seeing the above message in place of the ..... video, it happens in around 95% of videos. The same issue is in vimeo but I didnt find a single video that worked there.
The update installed Firefox version 3.6.6 which has the new flash crash detection. I had flash crash on me when I first installed 10.04 but I used the Lahf fix here:[URL]It doesnt seem to crash on any non video sites that use flash like Facebook.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have the latest version of Debian Lenny AMD64 installed on my brother's computer. I am trying to get Adobe versions of flash to install on his computer. It seems no matter what I do I get the freeware version installed which unfortunately is not up to the task. If I try to remove the freeware version the package manager tells me it needs to remove the gnome as well. How can I keep the gnome and at the same time get Adobe version to install. Yes I have a multimedia repository installed and I tried reinstalling Mozilla Adobe package with no success.

That I can successfully do, and have done so without success. It installs successfully, but it still shows version 9 of the plug-in. I believe version 9 is the free version. What I would like to use the free version, it's just not compatible with the websites I go to.
