How do you turn off the Labels in the TaskBar that are next to your Running Applications? You know, to basically make it look like Windows 7 where you only see the Icons.I'm running openSuse 11.3 with the KDE 4.4 desktop

I was want to know how can one move application tabs in KDE around the taskbar, I can do this in XFCE-taskbar, but in KDE it doesn't seem to work, I just grab it and try to move right, but it doesn't move), well, does anybody know where you can setup this? Such a simple function and no, not working?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running LibreOffice 3.3.1 and 3.3.2 on openSUSE 11.4 KDE. Does anybody have a problem where the KDE interface hangs after copying text in LibreOffice writer? On my system, I copy text in LibreOffice Writer either with the keyboard shortcut or with the context menu, and then I try to click on another window in the task bar, and it doesn't respond for about 2 seconds. The interface within LibO does keep responding though.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running openSUSE 11.3 with GNOME. I went through the Software Manager and deleted every instance of OpenOffice.org that was left after changing to LibreOffice, and also installed Beagle (+dependencies) and Tracker with some additional packages. Then I noticed that in the Application Browser there is no text next to the icons. Only the small version of the icons centered with no text (screenshot below).
The problem is I have no idea how to restore it to the way it was. I've already deleted Beagle and Tracker and their packages to no avail. I also noticed that YaST and Control Center both look fine. It's only the Application Browser.
When Desktop Effects are enabled in KDE the window for Tecplot 'bleeds' through, as if ~40% transparent in various regions. Disabling desktop effects fixes this, however, I would like to keep them. Is there a way to disable desktop effects on a single window/application?

It also shows in "The GNOME Panel" (desktop switcher) when it is in the foreground.All other applications correctly display in the task bar (Window List)

THere are time when I need to copy text from an application in the Fedora host machine and paste the text into a different app in the XP guest machine. I was able to do this using Vitualbox on an earlier version of Fedora.

The screen size defaulted to 1680 x 1240 mething like that.This was rather small for me so I went to the task bar and clicked on system.ound the app to change the resolution. I chose 1280 x 720. Now, I no longer have the task bar and the text is nearly unreadable.Without the task bar, I cannot find a way to go back to the original size. I also have not had any success finding any way to make the text look better. I tried changing the font and size but that did not have any beneficial affect. Can anyone tell me what will correct the situation?I found another post that mentioned Alt F2 and gnome-display-properties. That let me get back to nearly what I originally had; everything looks good at 1680 x 1050 but the fonts are not quite the same. However, I still have the need to reduce the resolution of the display and maintain readable text and the task bar.

I'm not a newbie to Linux, but I'm a newbie to LQ. I've searched the internet for an answer to an issue I'm having with JOE, to no avail.For my editing purposes, I HATE word wrap. I've read the man page extensively and nothing I try works.
To disable word wrap, it says, simply edit the joerc file and place --wordrap in the first column. Done. It works for .pl, and it works for .c (seems to be built in for C). Bottom line, I cannot disable word wrap for all text files, or at least the ones I want to edit. Has anyone solved this?
I run a custom build of linux running kernel 2.6.24 and busybox. At the moment I'm investigating a kernel panic. The problem is that after 10 minutes the screen is blanked, i.e. it is still on but has been turned black. If you press a key then the command prompt is shown once again, but if the kernel has crashed then this won't work and any info about the panic is inaccessible. So I'd like to prevent the display being blanked. I've tried booting with 'apm=off' and 'apm=off acpi=on' kernel parameters but neither had any effect.

I search throung Internet and it depends on the apache init script. If I change /etc/init.d/httpd status always return 0(success). THe service group will not fail over even apache failed.
However, I want to remain the application monitoring but stop failover. If the application like apache failed, I want Redhat cluster to try restart the application like 3 or 4 times. If restart failed, it will not failover.
I am interested to install an application which will convert my speech into text. I speak British English. Waiting for a reply.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have some assorted shell scripts and PERL scripts that I sometimes need to edit. When I right click on them within Nautilus, it offers to open them in Notepad. I can select Text Editor and put a tick in the box to 'remember this application', but it doesn't remember and next time I have Notepad again. It's a pain to have to navigate to Text Editor every time I need to open one of these files. Is there any way to make it stick?
View 7 Replies View Relateddose any one know the text string to enter to DISABLE ip v6 100% during the install?using the gui installer for fedora 5,6,7,8,9 i have been able to disable this ( uncheck a check box) then set the system up manually for ip4 .the reason is for some reason if ip6 is on during the install ( i have had this problem with all versions of fedora f5 through 9 and now 10)then fedora will never, never, NEVER ever connect to the net .the ip6 lookup kills my cable box, i boot into windows and it can not even connect until i unplug the box for 2 min and plug it back in and get a NEW/renewed ip address .so i do believe that i am going to need to do a text install and disable ip6. But the question is HOW ?

The same lines are seen in many Ubuntu-related internet pages. This is quite surprising to see.
This seem to contradict to the fact that ssh was created specially to provide authentication (with passwords, of couse) but without sending them by internet as clear text like previous programs did. But I could not find any clear confirmations of that neither in Kubuntu-related documents no anywhere else. I put below fragment of a document from RedHat. This seem to imply that if one will use two "yes", the passwords will be passed in encripted form (and this is what is recommended by RedHat). Is that true? Is this true for Ubuntu too? Is the quoted line from sshd_config wrong? Or incomplete?

should open the file in Vim. This is similar to what happens on windows (where a text file is opened in notepad.)
Anyone know of an application that I can send text messages to cell phones with? I send alot of text messages to my wife while I work and it would be so much easier if I could just do it from my keyboard.
