I know this is kind of stupid, but is there any way that I can change the color of the top of the desktop cube??
When I booted up from the Live CD before, the tops of the cube were green with a little chameleon. Now, their just cream colored...
I have searched, I have read the great unified desktop effects thread, and I can't figure out how to change my desktop cube to a sphere.
View 8 Replies View Relatedi was looking at videos and saw some demonstration of desktop-environment. one demonstration was of an ubuntu with something called atlantic desktop. it is an transparent 3d cube with swimming fishes inside the cube and in the background. i go into comfiz-fusion web-page and there i could read that its not a plugin, but a part of atlantic screensaver that come original with kde4-screensaver-extra, but in my opensuse 11.1 kde4.22 i cant find this.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently installed openSuse 11.2 KDE in a Dell 1535 laptop.
I tried to enable the Cube desktop feature through desktop settings and when I pressed the apply button the system crashed. The screen freezed and the laptop wasn't responding to anything.
So I rebooted the laptop and now every time gets stack in the green screen and trying to load but it never does. I suspect that it has to do with my ATI card because a couple of 3d games would crash the system too. I tried some solutions that I found here like disabling the desktop effects by tweaking kwinrc file but it didn't worked.
Does anyone know how to disable that Cube feature from failsafe mode?
In KDE I'm using KWin as windows manager and somewhere in the configuration I defined that KDE should rotate the desktop cube to the left or the right each time I move my mouse pointer to the far left or right of the screen.If I keep it there for about a second it rotates the desktop cube to the next desktop.I once activated this but find this very frustrating when I'm trying to reach buttons on the same side. So I want to disable this feature but I can't find it anywhere. I can't remember where that option was that activated this feature.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Ubuntu 10.04 Netbook Remix on my Gateway LT3103u. I noticed shortly into using it that it has a graphics bug every so often. Especially when I change the background image. Everything will change to a warped mix of colors and pixels. Everything is affected. My mouse, the bar at the top of the screen, text and all. My netbook runs on an AMD Athlon 64-bit processor with ATI Radeon X1270 HyperMemory up to 256MB graphics.
So far I have tried reinstalling, and even the 64bit desktop edition which had the same problem. Ive noticed that it freaks out when i scroll too quick, when changing background images, and on certain websites. Then other times its completely random. When it happens it looks similar to these: [URL]
Now I know that in order to change the colors in your terminal you have to play around with ~/.bashrc But the effects don't stay in place after a change-root is taken affect. It just reverts to black. Is there any way I can change that too in .bashrc?

View 6 Replies View RelatedRunning Ubuntu Netbook remix on a Toshiba NB500-upgraded to 2 Gigabytes RAM. Very slow opening applications via the side icons. 8-12 seconds. Is that normal for this distro?
- No 3D cube. Installed related compiz software, adjusted settings, ticked cubes etc. Not a peep.
- No direct desktop access. Only via side icons. Just find it fiddly re: using desktop and changing background via side icons.
Couple other items (MBB for one) but for another category.
I was just experimenting with compiz effects on Natty 11.04, and when I clicked desktop cube (which I'm assuming you're not supposed to do, haha), my compiz broke. The pop up windows are way at the top of the screen, almost out of view, and the windows lack the close, minimize, and maximize buttons. I tried reinstalling all the compiz plugins, and when I rebooted I had the same problem! I am using metacity right now, but I would be very sad if i was stuck with it.

I ended up disabling services, i think "largedesktop" and enabling others like OpenGL and composite. Anyway, unity no longer works including the bar above and the icons to the left. I have tried this with the onboard NVidea graphics card and with an added GeForce 8600 XT card with no luck.
No matter what I try, I get an error when I turn on the Desktop enhancements which says that my hardware does not support this feature?
why this particular feature is such a pain to install?
i'm using a 64 bit system. i'm running cube deformation with cylinder.i am unable to make my cube caps transparent.i've deleted the original cap settings.i have also attempted to log out and in again to see if it would change.also.....my mouse is not changing to it's new pointer when i'm active in compiz.when compiz is off my mouse change is set, when it is on it stays as the white pointer unless i'm on firefox.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed with the image, running alongside Windows 7 on my desktop. I hadn't been in Ubuntu on my laptop for awhile, and hadn't experienced the 11.04 alpha's yet, so I didn't know there would be substantial changes. Obviously, Unity instead of Gnome surprised me a bit, but I have liked it so far.
But here lies the problem. I installed Compiz and ccsm through the software center, then went to enable the desktop cube and rotating cube. I clicked enable/disable on everything that popped up, but I think I must have disabled Unity (whoops). The whole desktop basically disappeared; that is, the dock on the left was gone and the window borders disappeared. I was able to close the windows with Alt+F4, but then couldn't open anything back up. The Super key didn't activate the dock, so it's not like it was hiding. I thought no problem, it'll start back up when I reboot. No dice. Still just the background, nothing to interact with. Only way to do anything is to reboot into with Ctrl+Alt+Dlt.
how do I fix this? Ha sorry for not reading forums beforehand, as I could've avoided this problem. Haven't found any threads on how to fix it, so I decided to start my own.
I just upgraded to unity and everything is fine. Then I accidentally enabled Desktop Cube and Cube Rotation. Suddenly, the top part of windows that you normally use to drag the window or close it etc. started disappearing. In a panic, I rebooted. Upon reboot I found myself in an even bigger mess than I could have imagined. Not only did this fail to fix the problem previously mentioned, it also caused the sidebar and the ubuntu bar at the top to disappear. Desktop icons still show, and my cursor is fully functional, but other than that, my system is unusable.
View 5 Replies View Relatedtoday i decided i wanted to use the desktop cube again, so i went through all the compiz settings and got it working in gnome classic. however, when i initiate ratation with the mouse (ctrl>alt>button 1) it is sloooow whenever there is a window open (even just one). rotating away from the workspace with a window does seem to speed up the framerate. when i had maverick 10.10 it was never this slow.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIn 10.04 Lucid my Nautilus scroll bars are white. The scroll bar slider (the icon that can be moved up and down with the cursor to scroll the window) is the exact same shade of white and the slider outline is pale grey. The lack of color contrast makes the slider hard to see. Is there a preference item somewhere that lets me change this color scheme?
I expected to find it in System >> Preferences >> Appearance >> Theme but I don't think there's anything there about the scroll bars. I think my monitor might be more contrasty than most, which is probably exacerbating the problem, but this is what I have to work with. I would rather fix it by changing a system setting than replacing the monitor.
I have a monitor with oversaturated red (HP LP2475w). I am able to apply ICC profile to various apps like GIMP and Firefox and Gnome. But I'd like to apply it to everything - because e.g. Flash animations in Firefox are rendered by Flash and don't use ICC. So, can I apply it to whole X?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIt just happened now, I didn't notice if was changed on reboot or now (most likely) but I should have black menus with orange selected area.SOMETIMES (2-3 times now) I get this silver color menus with blue selection.What is the deal there?? Anybody know. I like it black w/ orange!(Running in classic mode in Ubuntu 11.4) I checked my Compiz Icon and Iam still under Compiz in Window Manager. I didn't change anything. On my reboot it will be black menus with orange.
