I am trying to install a brand new installation of Opensuse 11.3 on a PC. I am using the Gnome desktop. When installing I get SO many errors saying "YAST2: package "xxx" could not be downloaded" or "installation of package "xxx.rpm failed." Ignore, Abort Retry.
I ran a checksum on the iso I downloaded from this site and it checks out. What is going on?
after the netinst finished to download the last package, one hour later the process never continues, I checked the log file and I didn't find anything suspecious, also dmesg and nothing, in fact, in the log file before checked I found that the last line was registered just a minute ago - DHCP renew IP-, so my questions are:
1. all the packages downloaded are gone?, can I restart the installation using all those packages downloaded?
2. where I can find the error or problem that cause that the installation was freezed?
3. in the case that installation needs to start from the beginning, can I use the package downloaded?
I have downloaded Thunderbird 3.1.1 package thunderbird-3.1.1.tar.bz2 . I don't know how to install it. My Ubuntu is 10.04.

I have been having problems with Ubuntu. I just downloaded it yesterday and burned it to CD. However, when attempting to install it, I get errors. Unfortunately, I cannot recall the exact error but it stops the install. I will give further information later but wanted to ask if anyone has heard of this happening and if so, what the problems might be? I checked it with the MD5 and it appears to be a valid file, but the disk is giving me errors!

I simply want that the war file from sources is transferred to the web app of my tomcat server through RPM. I try to package it as an RPM, but its always giving me errors in %build stage. When I try to remove %build from stage from the spec file, then it says command missing.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just upgraded to 11.3, as a result, the suse-supplied video driver runs very slowly (screen-saver updates about 2 fps, to give you an idea) On 11.2, I had installed nvidia's native driver and things were just fine, so I tried to install the latest nvidia driver again, but I'm getting a hard hang with Yast -- at 99% downloaded, yast stops responding ("abort" doesn't respond, but an external "kill" signal works)
Finally getting the bright idea of checking the y2log file, I see the following code...

I'm sure there are some fingers to be pointed [nvidia's ftp server is borked; aria2c is clueless, etc] but that does not help me - what do I need to do to convince this "aria2c" program that the file has, in fact, completely downloaded so that the installation process can continue?
I am a newbie to Ubuntu. I have installed Ubuntu STudio 10.04 Lucid, and to install Open Office, I have chosen the below method:
1. Went to System-->Administration-->Synaptic Package manager.
2. Here, I chose Open Office Package and marked something, which I now dont remember.
3. Download of the associated packages have been completed, but it is not installed. Around 99 mb is downloaded, but I am not sure where it is saved.
The problem is that, it is not yet installed. After the download, it behaved like it was installing, I waited, but of no use. How to install the same and where the downloaded packages sit in the system?

I've looked through them all and no sign of Varkon. I've also tried to see if Varkon was installed so I looked via Ubuntu Software Center under installed software. No sign. I have extracte the folder to Documents: Cd/ to the folder and run the ./configure command and get this message: No package 'pygtk-2.0' found
I have checked the install files and edited the lines which contain the above to now read pygtk -2.0 >=2.8 as 2.8 is the version of python I have installed. In package manager it only goes back to v2.2.
How I can get around this error?
Running Ubuntu 9.1 karmic Koala.
Anybody else get errors about the 11.2 disk image being bad? All the linux and windows software I use say it's not in the "proper" format. I also straight burned it as a bootable disk and it still doesn't work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter installing 64 bit 11.2 with no apparent problems: computer hangs up on desktop boot opensuse 11.2-2.6.31.5-0.1, however I can boot from failsafe opensuse 11.2-2.6.31.5-0.1. I had problems trying to install Ubuntu so I checked out the opensuse. I do not know if this is an easy fix! I decided to avoid buying anymore windows system software. I ran memory test with no problems. The firmware test reported 4 errors. I have windows XP installed on other hard drive - no problems there.

After installing Opensuse 11.3 i get massive graphical errors after reboot. Those errors directly start after the first resolution change after grub. So i used nomodeset from now on and installed the drivers from nvidia.
After this X11 only flasht up very shortly and i got this logs:

I have tried installing cinelerra with autoplus and even doing it by hand. Both ways I get "No package cinelerra available" errors.

I also followed the installation instructions from the AutoPlus website and got the same result. I looked at the ATrpm website and all I found was cinelerra-2.1-21_git20101021.src.rpm, Am I doing something wrong, or is there another way to install cinelerra?
I decided to install windoze 7 and it finally worked. It was complicated, I have two HDD's on cable select and the one I wanted M$ installed on was second in the series. So I changed that around and it finally installed. I then changed it back to the way it was and now of course grub works for SUSE but not M$. I get error #13. My Windows drive also does not show up in sysinfo:/. I went to terminal and ran fdisk -l and
