View 1 RepliesI am using this usb wifi adapter, it uses zd1211rw and it works fine if I connect it directly to the usb port, but if I add a cable (around 5mts) between the usb port and the usb plug, the device doesn't appear (I used iwconfig to check). The green light on the wifi adapter turns on but it doesn't blink like it does when connecting it directly without the cable. What could be happening?
I use the same cable + usb wifi adapter in windows, and it works fine, I can scan and connect without problems. When I use the cable, lsusb doesn't show the device neither, it does when connecting the adapter directly.
I'm using a "HuiJia USB Gamepad" to connect a standard N64 controller to my computer over USB. I'm doing this so that I can play games using mupen64plus, which uses the SDL to get input. My problem has to do with the way the adapter deals with C button events. Apparently, the u/d and l/r C buttons are treated by the adapter as joystick axes, so joystick events are generated by using them. But, for some reason, these events aren't recognized by SDL.
It gets stranger - if I cat the output of /dev/input/event5, the event gets printed when a C button is pressed. Furthermore, when I configure SDL to use the /dev/input/event* devices rather than /dev/input/js0, the C buttons are recognized! (Though, this leads to a situation where the joystick can't be calibrated... go figure). So, I can either have a correctly calibrated joystick with no C buttons or a miscalibrated joystick with working C buttons. Does anyone have any idea what I can do about this situation? The best outcome would be to force the C button joystick events to appear when using /dev/input/js0. Device as it appears in the output of lsusb:

I upgraded F14 to F15; However, F15 no longer recognizes my 3 sata disks connected through Marvell controller. The controller is an integrated Marvell chipset 88SE6480. The controller has its own manufacturer driver but it was intended for RHEL 5.4 (mv64xx) and installation of this driver fails to generate mv64xx driver.

I had my wired internet working ok, but now that's not working for god knows what reason (yes I'm new). I've got my D-Link DWL-G120 usb wireless adapter pluged in but it's not "working". In the Hardare section it shows all the information for it but it shows it as a unclassified device. At this point I'm thinking of buying a bridge and just reinstalling the OS (plus I want to get a bigger Hard drive as I've got it on a 7 GB drive right now).

My research so far has found users have tried in the past with varying success.
I have a PS3 Sixaxis controller, and a USB cord. I downlod "QtSixA" properly, and in the GUI, a controller is recognized as a USB controller. However, when I open up emulators, or games, I'm unable to map controls to the PS3 controller, or anything. What am I doing wrong?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI can not get the node or cloud controllers to startup using the init.d scripts. I have a fresh install of CentOS 5.4 with Eucalyptus 1.6.2 I have compiled Eucalyptus and all packages using the RPM supplied from Eucalyptus and utilizing yum installer. I do not currently have any processes or applications listening currently on the ports on the boxes as well. I think it may be a permissions issue or something because I get a "permission denied error", but I am not sure if it is Eucalyptus or CentOS. It looks as if it is not binding to the address on the interface of the NIC. It may be something else however. I have the Node controller, Cloud controller, and Cluster controller on seperate physical boxes. When I try to run either the cloud controller or the node controller I get this message:

I have a Dell XPS M1330. I installed Fedora 10 on a separate partition and left Vista on the first. It was working just fine and for some reason all of the sudden it is not recognizing the Wireless controller. Vista is still working fine although I did get a couple of "WLAN controller has stopped working" errors. I suspect I may have a physical problem with the controller but I'm confused as to why Vista is still using it but Linux is not. The actual physicall "WIFI" light on the laptop does not even illuminate when I boot Linux. No wireless networks appear in the network list under Linux. Particularly since it WAS working fine for months...

I'm having a problem here with my graphics card. Until not very long ago I was using the controller Ubuntu downloaded for me. However I recently downloaded another one from the ATI page, called ati-driver-installer-11-3-x86.x86_64.run and installed it.
So far, I've encountered two new problems:
1. The ATI Catalyst Control Center would not open after I setup the Tear Free Desktop.
2. The computer is running slow. Files take longer to open, minimizing and maximizing windows takes longer. Wi-fi connection takes longer to connect, etcetera. Overall, everything is going slow.
Are these problems related? I would like to uninstall the driver as the computer was working just fine before. In addition to this, I have firefox 4.0 and the colors on most of the images are darker than they should. The images look fine on other browsers except firefox. I read I had to do type "about:config" in the address bar, find "gfx.color_management.mode" and change the value from 2 to 0. What did I exactly do there? I took the advice from this thread: [URL]
Basically i want it so that the analogue stick on my PS2 controller, which connects via a USB adaptor and is recognized, correctly controls in game characters. It seems to work fine enough in platformers, at least it does with Banjo Kazooie, but with games like perfect Dark it seem to be trying to move forward and look down at the same time, also backward and look up simultaneously and look sideways and move sideways simultaneously , rendering the game all but unplayable.
I have tried running jscal and, apart from the fact that it seems a bit beyond me, it reports "jscal: missing devicename" when i try to run "jscal -c". Do others out there have there analogue sticks working correctly with games like Perfect Dark, or the James Bond games, for example?
I installed Ubuntu as well but was still using the windows loader. I eventually installed Ubuntu Studio when I got another HDD (which is where I installed it). Don't ask me how I did it. As of now no loader automatically pops up. It acts as if there is nothing to boot from. However I can hit f12 and chose which HDD to boot to. On one it comes up with the Windows loader w/ Vista and Ubuntu. I can chose Vista and it works just fine. However if I chose Ubuntu it starts going a lil nuts and restarts. If I chose the other HDD it boots up Grub w/ options of Ubuntu and Ubuntu Studio. Studio works (which I'm currently on) and pretty much the same thing happens as before when I chose Ubuntu. So if the 2 OS's that I need work (Only really use windows for games) then what is the problem? I know its a little bit annoying trying to remember to hit f12 and having to chose your OS again after that (and of course the extremely annoying vista startup times). Some other things in both Studio and Vista don't want to work like they should. This is about the only thing left that I could think of that may have something to do with it. My wireless card+an old wireless card I found won't work w/ either.
Yet they both work on other computers running Vista and/or Ubuntu (not studio). I seem to always keep having display problems on both as well (dual monitors and graphics both). Even on studio I have to restart it sometimes to even get it to let me go fix it. My wireless controller receiver (for games) will stop working randomly and need to be unplugged and plugged back in. I also have problems with Studio recognizing SD cards and DVD/CD's. I am not sure much of anything can be done aside from wipe and fresh install on both. Bad thing is I don't have my other computer with me and can't afford to buy a 1TB HDD right now.

I am having some problems getting the onboard sound card on my Intel DP45SG motherboard to work properly under openSuse 11.1. Yast appears to have detected the card as a 82801JI (ICH10 Family) HD Audio Controller, but I cannot get any sound out of the card at all.
I have tried to follow this thread, and have run the alsa-info script, the results of which are posted here. It appears to me that the codec that is listed in the alsa script, which is the IDT 92HD73E1X5, is not the same as that which is listed on Intel's site for this board, which is the IDT 92HD73E codec. Can anyone help me out with regards to getting this going? Additional info below:

I am trying to get my bluetooth adapter to work in RHEL. The adapter is a Kensington Micro (K33902US). The system detects the device, but it fails to find any networks when I do a scan using hcitool. Also, I wrote a small C program to do the same, with the same results (no network found). The bluetooth manager appears in the panel, but when I right-click, the only option I have is to check/uncheck "Discoverable". I have tried restarting bluetooth using "service bluetooth restart" to no avail.I tried borrowing an adapter from a friend (some DLINK) that seemed to work fine for both hcitool and my program. The problem just seems to be in Red Hat's ability to use this particular device.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAt the school i work in i have a server2k3 server that provides a domain to all the windows clients, aswell as a fedora server that acts as an imaging machine and webserver.
Im rather concious of the fact that if for any reason the Server2k3 server was to die there is no backup of active directory, or anything that can take its place whilst a replacement is found.
So is it possible to use a fedora machine with samba as a secondary domain controller? so it can be used as a login server, and has a copy of AD.
I installed OpenVPN, placed conf, keys and certs into /etc/openvpn/. I did
Code:
sudo openvpn --conf /etc/openvpn/client.conf
And everything seemed alright, but when I actually try accessing something that I need VPN for, it doesn't work (it's the same as if I wasn't in VPN). I also tried using GOpenVPN but the results are exactly the same. I know the confs are ok as I use the exact same files on Windows 7 and everything's fine. I even disabled ufw, restated machine etc, just to be sure.
Is there anyway to get this adapter working with Ubuntu 10.04 at all?
View 1 Replies View Related have no way of knowing if I am connected to my wireless network. The straw that broke the Camel's back was last night when for one reason or another, the connection was dropped, and I had no way of knowing it. I messed around for 3 1/2 hours changing software settings, and running in circles. I finally decided to just reboot the system, and the connection came back.I still had no way of knowing that.
Had the LEDs on my notebook adapter been working, I could have saved myself hours of frustration and aggravation.I am still so ticked off over that, I'm to the point that if this can not be corrected, this may very well be the end of my using Linux.I assume this problem will arise from the adapter card. I took screen shots of everything.Note all of the blank spaces that when clicked on, display LEDs, and nothing more, (led1.jpg)I have taken a screen shot of the properties of each of those entries, (led_properties.jpg).how do I get the LEDs on my adapter working so I know when there is a connection, and when data is being transmitted and received?
Often i have an active connection on the tree network with an internet dongle according networkmanager, but ping is not working and firefox and thunderbird also don't have a connection. Skype however is working at that time. (testcall to skype is working) My present solution is to disconnect and connect a couple of times again until i can ping a commonserver on the internet, and then everything is working normal. Many are stating networkmanager is buggy, is this a known bug and is it worked on or do i need to install another program. Has any of you an idea what could be going on and how to solve it, permanently. In the way it's automatically right when connecting.
My dongle is of type: Huawei E 1550 and often i have a normal connection.
I have installed Ubuntu 10.10 over windows 7. i have made a new active wireless connection (home wifi) and it was successful and is now connected to the home wifi but when i start up firefox to surf the net it says cannot display page.
