OpenSUSE Hardware :: TV Card Won't Work Under 11.2?

Nov 17, 2009

I installed openSUSE 11.2 several days ago. Everything works fine so far, but my tv-card isn't willing too show me something. I've already searched the web for 2-3 days, but i could not find a solution.

kdetv says that it has "no device found", xawtv works in rare chases but crashes completely when i try to maximize it. tvtime says "Driver refuses to start streaming", in the next line "Driver refuses to stop streaming" and sometimes something about wrong number of frames from bttv.

The TV-card is a Terratec Terra TValue, it is still working fine under WinXP and did work under openSUSE 11.0. YaST-config is done, Nvidia drivers are installed, as well as v4l.

Some things that might help:

xawtv

Code:
This is xawtv-3.95, running on Linux/i686 (2.6.31.5-0.1-default)
xinerama 0: 1024x768+0+0

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Network Settings And Usb-wlan-card Didn't Work

May 8, 2010

i installed suse (KDE) on my old notebook and now I'm trying to get the wlan to connect to our router and can't figure out how to get it to work. My card seems to work, the network manager even finds the router, but i just cant get a connection. I followed the steps of the "Getting Your Wireless to Work" thread and these are the results:

[Code]....

- i messed around a bit with the network settings and might have cluelessly broken something (or broken it more)

- i tried a usb-wlan-card as an alternative, which didn't work either, but could possibly have messed things up even more.

OpenSUSE Install :: Acpi Better / Card Went To Legacy What Version Still Has Ati Drivers For Card

Dec 6, 2009

i have a little experience with ubuntu but i have had bugs that are not resolvable at this time in ubuntu. so instead of giving wild bill back my pc i am looking for a new distro. my concerns with ubuntu revolve around acpi. no fan control and high temp. the 2nd problem that is almost overlookable is the ata1 softreset error. it usually is no problem but occasionally have to do manual fsck to fix. so heres my laptop specs. toshiba a305d-s6848. amd turion x2 ati x1250 integrated. 3gb ram. 500gb hd vista and ubuntu 9.04 dual boot grub with 100gb ubuntu and the rest vista. so q1= what suse version would be best?

q2= is suse's acpi better? ubuntu runs all features but fan control
q3= is suse as easy to install? or harder
q4= ati graphics i know for my card went to legacy what version still has the ati drivers for my card
q5= is suse easier or harder to work with and get everything working.

i know no linux is or opsys is perfect. im just looking for one that is stable and works the pc correctly. i know its a big thing to ask. i know no one can tell me that. but just looking for suggestions. im thinking of downloading suse and does all the downloads support live sessions.

Ubuntu :: Cannot Get Wireless Card To Work

I have a laptop with ubuntu installed. But I cant get the wlan to work. When I had vista on it I had to use a combination on the keyboard to "activate" the wlan. ( FN - F1 ). But on ubuntu this wont work. Ubuntu don't recognize this function because it was made especially for my computer. In the trobleshooting guide of wlan point 5.2.1 it says that I have to activate the card from windows. But I dont have windows on the computer anymore, even if I had it would just disconnect when booting to linux. How can I activate my wlan card without windows, or the Function keys? Debian Configuration :: How To Get Wireless Card To Work

Jan 21, 2010

I'm having trouble getting my wireless card (RNX-G300LX, from Rosewill) working with my Debian install. I had it working at one point in time, but (apparently) something has gone wrong, as it no longer connects. The network I'm trying to connect to uses WPA2. When I try to start up my wireless card as follows:
# ifup wlan0

I get the following response:

I have set up /etc/network/interfaces as follows:
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
iface wlan0 inet dhcp
wpa-conf /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
auto wlan0
and /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf looks like this:
ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant

ap_scan=1
fast_reauth=1
network={
ssid="apt_102"
scan_ssid=1
key_mgmt=WPA-PSK

I should also note that running wpa_cli -i wlan0 tells me that it is "trying to associate" with my router, but authentication times out each time.

Fedora Hardware :: Wireless Card Won't Work / Fix This?

May 24, 2011

i'm new to linux, and recently installed fedora 14 on an old hp pavillion dv2700. it originally had vista home premium, but the hard drive crashed and had to be replaced with a new one, which had no os on it. i installed fedora several days ago, and everything worked perfectly until a day ago when suddenly the wireless card wouldn't turn on anymore.

my sister was using the computer (just videos) and a few seconds after she handed it back to me, the wireless light turned from blue to amber, and it said wireless was diabled, even though i hadn't touched the switch. before the computer crashed, it had a problem of the light always being amber when it woke up from standby, but flipping the switch off and back on would fix it. now no amount of wiggling and flipping seems to do the trick.
