I just installed openSuse 11.4 on my tablet pc HP Pavillion tx 2000 and then I installed Nvidia driver by Yast, adding before the official repository NVidia.Sometimes, it happens that I can move the cursor mouse but when I click nothing happens, while the keyboard works properly. After more some seconds mouse works again.
View 2 RepliesIs there any way I can install an older version of kde like the on on suselinux 10.1 because the newer desktops are very unstable on my computers. stuff closes, stuff freezes temperarly, fortunetly nothing perminent has happened yet but its been threating to abolish my computer. Ive had other cases like this end up making me reinstall my operating system and Id really like to just fix the problem before it happens. page down is overrun with this horribly lagging scroll.buttons look like there clicking occasionally and again it closes programs and has logged me out once already.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe system runs just fine then all of a sudden it "freezes". For example an input box doesn't respond nor can I scroll down the page. But when the system comes out of the freeze 5-15 seconds later, it suddenly does all the input that was used during the freeze. The scroll and letters suddenly show up. I don't loose mouse control and I can do some other system functions but not all of them.

I have been experiencing issues when switching users since my last update; I filed a bug, but I was interested if anybody else was having the same problem:URL...In a nutshell the computer freezes temporarily during the switch user process. The longer it is running, the longer the freeze lasts. When frozen the screen is black except for a mouse pointer; but the mouse and keyboard are not responsive including the usual X command keys (Ctrl-Alt-Del, Ctrl-Alt-Bksp, Ctrl-Alt-F1, etc.).When I get the chance I am going to rollback gdm to see if that makes a difference.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running suse 11.4 64bit and flash 11.0.1.60 My problem is that when I'm running flash if I give some keyboard input then my mouse (and only my mouse from what I can tell) will freeze for a second or so. This is most annoying when I'm goofing off playing a flash game that requires both keyboard and mouse inputs, since if I use the keyboard for anything I can't use the mouse for a second or so.I've tried searching the forums but I can't seem to find anything on this topic.

When I begin to use Mozilla Firefox (version automatically installed with OpenSUSE 11.3) the cursor freezes or locks up (when I move the mouse/cursor-pointer), and the only way I can do anything is turn off the computer and start over (to no avail, because it does the same thing within a a minute or so after entering Mozilla Firefox. I did not have this problem with OpenSUSE 11.2.

If I try it again, it crashes at the same point.
I'm trying to create a portable flash-drive from the openSUSE-11.3-KDE-LiveCD-x86_64.iso-file. I can boot and run it, but everytime I use Yast to install something (language, ...) everything but the mouse just freezes, forcing me to restart the laptop.
View 9 Replies View Relatedjust want to report "Right Mouse Click Freeze" on Ubuntu 10.10. When I click on anything with my right mouse button to open options menu it freezes and does not open menu. Sometimes when I shake my mouse left/right a bit it opens that menu, but this does not work always. It seems like xserver issue, but I'm not sure since I'm not expert in linux yet. It's very annoying issue that I would like to resolve asap.

This is probably already on these forums, but I recently re-installed suse 11.3 and had the desktop effects working fine with the desktop cube animation and everything. But not the case this time...I resume compositing, and try my desktop effect shortcuts, but nothing happens and it comes up saying for me to press Alt+Shift+F12 to resume the compositing again. I do that, but still nothing, and I even re-apply the desktopct settings completely and restart the computer and it comes up saying that none of them were activated or something in the notifications pop-up on the bottom right of the screen. I thought I downloaded the right files (OpenGL??) from the repositories along with basically anything I thought would make it work.

The above file advises me to "comment out the eth0 interface from the smb.conf "; however, my /etc/samba/smb.conf seems to have no eth0 interface.The "man mc" file mentions that "smbfs" is one of the virtual file systems used internally by mc. I tried reducing the "vfs" timeout in the ".mc/ini" file from 60 to 5, but this had no effect on the startup time.

If I just take the mouse and scroll left and right over the desktop, the mouse is "jerky, choppy, randomly freezes, erratic". It occurs all the time. Trying to be more focused and select an object is challenging.

I have another virtual machine with the exact same setup running openSUSE 11.2 x86-64, kernel 2.6.31.5-0.1, and the mouse is not "jerky", but I have no wheel support. Comparing logs and config they look alike. I turned off all desktop effects.

I had Edubuntu 8.10 installed and have now installed 10-10 Ubuntu to rule out software issues. During the new install, the video would stop after a period of time, and could return to operation by moving the mouse. The same mouse,keyboard, and monitor are being used on three other computer boxes using a KVM switch. The problem is unique to this Foxconn box. After the unit freezes, I can use the alt-ctr-sysrq RES to eliminate the GUI. This tells me that the Linux system is still running.
What segment of the system log should I be examining? Is this an IRQ issue?
I have recently installed Ubuntu on my desktop. Whenever I log in after approx. 2 minutes the keyboard or mouse (or sometimes both) freezes. The mouse and keyboard are connected via USB and not p2/p. rebooting every 2 min in order to use the OS is not exactly convenient

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04 using the distro upgrade feature. Everything was upgraded without errors.
However, my mouse/keyboard now freezes after 10+ minutes of use. Both are unresponsive, and the keyboard lights does not change with the use of caps-lock, etc.
The system didn't crash though. I had a download running which was completed despite the mouse/keyboard hang.
The computer is barely usable now, I really wished I didn't upgrade...
I've had these problems ever since upgrading to 10.10Boot up goes nowhere unless I touch the trackpad or keyboard. My clock says it's 10:00am but it's three in the afternoon, so I'm always having to resync with NTP. Music and video stutters with playback unless I touch the trackpad.I'm on a Toshiba NB205 netbook.These are pretty big problems. And I'm sure I'm not the only one using 10.10. Is there no fix out for this yet?

First problem was that when I used microphone on Audigy 4 (from some reason recognised as Audigy 2) the sound which people received from me was very chirpy. This problem was solved easily, I just turned my on-board sound system on and started using micorphone from integrated card. And here comes my weird problem. Microphone works all right, but only for short period. After some time after I start talking to someone on Skype the microphone turns itself off, but I can still hear my interlocutors. The only solution is to go to Yast and restart sound system or to restart whole computer, both of which are not real solutions, but well, they sort of work. I'm using Opensuse 11.2 x64.

It would work fine connected to my laptop on AC power, but it would freeze when on battery.I have "laptop-mode-tools" installed, and I traced this problem to laptop-mode-tools trying to put the mouse to sleep and not waking it up.To solve this, I have blacklisted the power management for the USB mouse. First, I did "lsusb" to find the mouse device:

After logging into fedora about 5 minutes into the session everything except the mouse freezes on the screen. There is nothing that works. A hard reboot is done and the same thing happens after logging in. The system use to work fine up until a few weeks ago. I suspect it may be an yum update.

After some time, the mouse just randomlyeezes, although the keyboard is still responsive.I plugged in a second USB (standalone) mouse.It initially worked, but after some time, it also freezes. I attempted to unplug the frozensecond mouse and place into another USB port. When I did, the red light on the bottom of the mouse failed to light up. I then attempted to plug in a third mouse, and it failed to show the light as well.When ssh'ing from another box, I get the following from dmesg:

So it's a beautiful day and I'll be happily using my computer when I realise that the screen is no longer showing that I'm typing or moving my mouse (or finger across a touch-pad). I can leave my computer in this frozen/crashed state for hours. My only recourse is to drain the battery or hold down the power button until the computer shuts down. The computer is a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop/notebook. As my memory serves, it has an ATI graphics thingy. Radeon 1400, maybe. But I've had the computer for years and this behaviour has emerged only the past couple of months, with seemingly increasing frequency.

Sometimes this happens within minutes of turning the computer on and logging into Gnome. Sometimes this happens only hours after I've started using the computer (mainly just surfing the web). Sometimes it is preceded by a loud boop sound and the following if I have console open, sometimes not. So maybe that's unrelated. But that happened just now so I thought I'd throw it in.
One weird thing: Usually this happens within an hour of starting to use the computer, but one occasion I noticed I had not had the problem for several hours. On that occasion, the only thing I noticed I was doing that was also unusual: I had turned on and forgotten about a kvm virtual machine. After I shut down the vm, I had about only a minute before the freeze. I'm surprised now that it hasn't frozen since I started typing thing. Maybe I should always keep this forum open in a browser window.
