I have the default install of openSUSE 11.4 64bit and default Firefox 4.0b12 installed. I have installed multimedia support as per caf4926's guide on this page: Multi-media and Restricted Format Installation Guide
When I playback Internet web page movies in Firefox they flicker badly. The same movies played in Google Chromium play just fine. What do I do to get Internet films to play fine in Firefox?
I have yet to make flash run smoothly on Linux. I tried Chromium, Firefox, flash versions from 8 and up; it runs but makes firefox crash, chromium does not crash but it's all slow and breaky. Flash 9 runs and does not crash but has no sound. No version on any browser can run HD flashes, it just breaks up and runs like in 3 second interval frames.I have tried everything I've read and spent 3 months trying to watch the nfl.com unsuccessfully. Is flash working smoothly for anybody?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to play a HD rip of a film from dvd. It's in mkv format but it doesn't seem to play properly in oS. I've tried using SMplayer and Kaffeine but neither work well. In SMplayer the picture freezes after about 35s but the sound continues. With Kaffein the picture works but I loose the sound after about 15s. In win xp it plays fine.
CPU usage in oS is around 45-50% so it's not maxing out my cpu.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am running openSUSE 11.1 on a Pentium Dual Core 2.5 (E5200) Processor, 2GB RAM and an NVidia 8400GS PCI Express display card.When I intitially installed my system I also installed VLC media player, at that time it was version 1.0.1, Mplayer and SMplayer a few codecs for K3B, handbrake for DVD ripping etc. That was also the only time since my computer has been online, i have never updated it since. And it had no problems whatsoever. Among other things I use my system to watch DVD's. I watched many DVD's and video clips flawlessly.
Now all of a sudden when watching DVD's and video clips the DVD playback flickkers red (the color red). I am not sure what causes it and it is very irritating. It flickkers even more with video clips. With a DVD it dissappears after a while but as soon as you move your mouse pointer or click on the screen it starts to flickker red again.I thought it was my NVidia card that might be faulty, but I booted up from a Puppy linux live-cd and I played a DVD from there and it works 100%.
i tried kde settings: disabled screen saver, disabled monitor power management. nothing worked. even i tried to find something in yast -- no luck. actually screen goes black after about 10 mins of inactivity which is annoying while watching in ex. videos. playing kaffeine is ok - i think it's because kaffeine makes "fake mouse movements". suse 11.3, linux 2.6.34.4-0.1-default x86_64, kde: 4.4.4 (kde 4.4.4) "release 2". adm athlon dual core 4450e (2.3ghz), 2 gb ram, geforce 9600 gso 512 with nvidia driver.

View 13 Replies View RelatedAfter a fresh install of opensuse 11.2 I followed the multimedia guide to install mm-support. Sound is working, results in xine are excellent. Compared to 11.1, vlc now plays sound with drops about every second. To be more precise: sound is ok for several seconds, then a first drop appears. Thereafter the time between the following drops slowly shortens. After a minute or so, the drops come in intervals of about a second.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSM player works yes, but how do i get the thumbnail previews. I did a fresh install of opensuse, i installed the updates they Yast told me to. I followed the guide precisely this time, using the command line method and encountered some problems. 4 files, asked to be broken or use obsolete at the point where i have to do the switch to packman repository. I chose use obsolete cuz i didn't want to break anything. When i tried to set an mkv to open in SMplayer the optionw asn't there, only banshee and totem. I opened Yast and it told me to install opensuse codec installer and another file can't remember) which i did. The option to open files in SMplayer, Xine etc came up then.
I'd like to get the thumbnails and I'd like to see Totem work as well. I know i don't need to, but considering that i downloaded the neccesary codecs, i expect it to work :/ or am i wrong with that assumption On a totally unrelated note, is there a way to increase the resolution of the bootloader? i'd like to be 1920x1200 to full my screen

I am using itunes on Windows to listen to different radio shows and I am interested if there is any application in openSUSE that can automatically read the link to the podcast as it is present on apple's page.I found a way to play the podcast thru Amarok but I had to convert somehow the link from apple to some xml that Amarok can understand. I'm thinking maybe if there is something more straightforward.

While watching flash films on ..... and other sites everything is fine until I try to switch the film to fullscreen mode. When pressing the fullscreen icon, browser is killed at once. It happens in iceweasel and epiphany as well. I tried flashplayer-mozilla and flashplugin-nonfree from repos and the problem remains the same.

I have Xsane installed, which works fine with my flatbed scanner. It does not even "see" the film scanner. It's plugged into a usb port(tried several) and lights up, so assume that the hardware is ok.

I have a dell inspiron 1720 with 4gb ram, dualcore 2,5ghz and a gforce 8600m card so it shouldnt have problem with playback.I have installed restricted extra package and activated the nvidia driver from the additional driver menu. I have tried using both firefox and chrome for hd ..... content and both media player and vlc for 720p files on my harddrive. All of the above perform horribly (~1 fps). Low definition videos plays smoothly though.

I've got the whole thing setup'ed with igmpproxy and hostpad. On wired connection IPTV works flawlessly, but on wireless connection IPTV glitches badly and router start to time out. Maybe it's just an Amarok2 problem, but whenever another app (for example Konversation) plays a sound file, the audio instantly cuts out (in Amarok2) and will not come back unless I quit Amarok2 and restart it.
Amarok2 has only the options - "HDA ATI SB VT 1708S Analog" or "PulseAudio" (which is NOT installed).
