OpenSUSE :: 11.3 - Audacious Will Not Start With 64bit OS
Feb 21, 2011
OpenSUSE 11.3 KDE 4.4.4 64bit. Installed Audacious thru Yast2 using the Packman repository [ver 2.4.3-1.pm.1.1-x86_64]. When I look in the start menu it shows up under Multimedia > Audio Player > Adacious. When I try to start Audacious, by either:
1] clicking on the icon in the start menu
2] starting it from terminal
3] typing it from run command
I can see the bouncing 'a' for Audacious. It bounces for a few seconds and then disappears and then nothing more happens. I am using Audacious on my 32 bit system [running openSUSE 11.3 KDE 4.4.4 ] and it works just fine.
I Just loaded 11.2 64 bit, initially the kernel was "default", however, after I installed my Nvidia drivers it changed to desktop, I'm not sure I understand? In GRUB my screen lists it as desktop. Is "default" somewhere? Was it replaced? Things seem to be working alright in most cases although I'm having inordinate problems with "virtual Box" and Vmware server. In Vbox the kernel module won't start.
I was using audacious happily, but after the dist-update last week I can't get is working anymore. The error message is: audacious2: symbol lookup error: audacious2: undefined symbol: index_new
Version: audacious-2.2-1.pm.5.1 uname -a output is: Linux linux-9b84 2.6.27.39-0.2-default #1 SMP 2009-11-23 12:57:38 +0100 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Deleting .config/audacious, .local/share/audacious, and .cache/audacious doesn't help (it did with a similar problem before). how to get this program working again?
I am running it on a Dell PowerEdge 300 and am having all kinds of problems. First problem was that the second NIC will not start at boot. I have to manually start it every time I re-boot.
Ok, so I set up SSH and no mater what I do, it too will not start at boot time. Same with Apache and vnc.
So I use it as a development platform with eclipse. I have my Laptop running 14 32 bit and it was a dream. This eclipse install was a pain from the get go. Now I cannot get the debugger to consistently run no mater what I do. It will run for a bit then the next time I try it will not start. Very strange.
PHP is also a problem. None of the mysql functions work. Yes I loaded the mysql libs but still no luck.
Think I;ll go back to the 32bit 14 and stick with it for a while unless someone has some good suggestions on how to get it running smoothly.
I have a regular Dell D520 with 32bit 10.04, and wondered if it's possible to start using the 64bit version of 10.10. Do I need any special architecture to run 64bit? Is there any advantage in a regular laptop running 64bit?
I just installed FC11 yesterday and I can login on terminal window usingu and root password no problem. However if I try to login atachine startup screen as root and password it tells me denied password.
I installed fedora 12 X86-64 and after installing wine throw yum it is not working it reach to registering binary handler for windows applications [ok] and it is blinking several times and nothing happened after that
I can not start fedora 15 because i take this message:HTML Code:Starting udev wait for complete device initialization failed, see ' system ctl status udev-settle.service for details
On a newly installed centos I updated mysql-* & php-* files using RPM repository, and I installed phpmyadmin. After that i tried restarting mysql and it just said: failed
Code: service mysqld start MySQL Daemon failed to start. Starting mysqld: [FAILED]
I have installed fedora 13 , 86_64. and was working fine until now. The problem was that JEXEC service Froze while booting. So I removed it /etc/init.d. The next time when I booted ATD service Froze, so I removed it by the same way. Next it was the turn of CROND followed by KSM , KSMTUNED. Then came ABRT-DAEMON which I had to type a #yum erase abrt* command. Finally it came to the turn of SM-CLIENT. I don't know where it is or what it is. Didn't find quality posts on the internet. What the heck should I do and I dont want to do a reinstall.
I want to install a 64bit-only application in my wine. But every time i try to load the installer it says that it only works on a 64bit-system.Iv'e tried the 32-version of the app and it works fine.I heard that since version 1.2 wine is able to support 64bits.But how do I force wine to load an app in 64bit-mode? I'm guessing there is an option to the wine command or something. But what is it? can't find anything in the man-page. And a google on the subject only brings up old posts from people who are trying to install wine in 64bit-ubuntu...
about 5 mount ago, i installed WarZone game on my fedora 12 x86-64 and it's run correctly but when i upgraded my f12 to f13, my desktop won't start correctly after quit warzone. when i quit warzone, my desktop won't start correctly, and i have a black screen with mouse, and nothing else. i asked about this problem, on warzone's forum and they called me:
Quote: Most likely this problem has something to do with your graphics driver. But I would wait for more insight from others if I were you. It is a driver/library problem, so you should report the bug to Fedora.
After the 4th install The printer will at least produce a test page, but the available resolution is low, I suspect I need the gutenprint enhanced drivers, printer is a EPSON R285. Where do I find the nvidia libs so I can use the Nvidia driver for my ancient 8500 GTX. Using the package manager find nvidia shows nothing.
Are these libs held on another repo, as in other distros?, and is Acroread availble? is there a listing if the repos somewhere, I have some apps that have to be compiled and are a pig to get going, due to using those funny cut down libs that ubuntu use. When I backed up the last failing version of FC13, which hung as soon as yum was started, didn't print ect, I didn't close firefox down before copying the file. So the user config is locked, ie, you get firefox is already running, and fails to start. I found parentlock and deleted it, but but there is another lock file that needs to be removed, and I can't find it.. Anyone know the location of the lockfiles for firefox.?
I am using RHEL 5. I have enabled rpmfusion, epel and rpmforge yum repositories and installed Audacious and dependecies. But I could not find any mp3 playback plugins. Installed Audacious plays ogg format but doesnt play mp3. How can i make Audacious play mp3 format ?
I'm using Crunchbang Statler which is based on stable Debian Squeeze and I was wondering if anyone knows when audacious 2.4.2 will be available in the repository?
Ok so I have some music that I have burned from cds, within windows, I have them in a wma format. The video player, handles those songs just fine. However I really enjoy using the Audacious player. Whenever I try to run in Audacious,Is there a way to update the decoders for audacious specifically, either through the repo or CLI?
Status update: Latest builds including a few more fixes will hit updates-testing with the next push: [URL] This time, karma automatism is enabled, so the update will hit the stable updates repo after either +3 votes or after 7 days. Regardless of whether the -freeworld packages are available. Those are being worked on as well, but since RPM Fusion doesn't build their packages against Test Updates, it seems they don't spend the extra effort on pulling the Test Updates into their buildroot and instead wait till those get marked stable.
I used to be able to play MPC (musepack) in Audacious but can't any more. I have the Audacious 2.1.1 package and libmpcdec3 installed, running Ubuntu 9.10
I am trying to install audacious from a tar.gz. Here is the ./configure output Code: elliotn@elliotn-desktop:~/Desktop/audacious-2.3$ ./configure checking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu checking host system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu checking target system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu checking for gcc... gcc checking whether the C compiler works... yes checking for C compiler default output file name... a.out checking for suffix of executables... checking whether we are cross compiling... no .....

Whenever I try to click any of the places under the "Places"-menu in the panel under Gnome audacious gets started instead. How strange! Only way to stop it is to uninstall audacious. This seems very strange, it started today and I have no idea of why it started. Ubuntu 10.04. Do you need any more information? I am pretty new to the Gnome environment, I have always been running Fluxbox before.
Whenever I try to add or update metadata from a MP3 file, Audacious gives the message "Metadata updating failed".I use Ubuntu (9.10) and installed Audacious (2.1.0) from the Ubuntu Software Center.Does anybody know what causes this or how I can find out what the problem is...
I've recently installed Audacious and I can't seem to make it play ogg files. My OS is Debian Lenny 64-bit. Thank You guys, I'll see if I can get it to work or find any errors.
Is there any chance we'll see the newer version of Audacious (2.4.2) in -current, or is it too late in the day? If I get time, I may try building it on my -current install.
