Software :: Audacious Not Playing Ogg Files?
Mar 15, 2010I've recently installed Audacious and I can't seem to make it play ogg files. My OS is Debian Lenny 64-bit. Thank You guys, I'll see if I can get it to work or find any errors.

Slackware :: .audacious Wont Add .wav Files To The Playlist?
May 15, 2009I run slackware 12.1 and audacious wont add .wav files to the playlist. This means it just wont play them. Why is that? Is there a way to fix this?

Dec 16, 2009This was my favorite media player because it played all the files I could throw at it. However, in Fedora 12 it fails to run my .avi or .mkv files. I may have forgotten something, like some driver or codec, but movie player plays them well. I have VLC in Mac and it plays the files without question. Am I doing something wrong?

Anyway it will not play any video or audio files. Has anyone seen this type of message before?

Processor: 2x Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU Z520 @ 1.33GHz
Memory: 1016MB
Operating System: Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS
Video: Intel Graphics Accelerator
Will provide additional information if needed. Issue: Despite all the legwork I've been doing, I cannot play .mkv and .mp4 files. So far I've tried using VLC player, installing the w32codecs using medibuntu, installing the ubuntu-restricted-extras package, and did some gstreamer stuff. Nothing has worked so far. The best I've gotten is a blank screen with the audio. On a not so serious note, I have also been having trouble getting my webcam to work. I installed cheese, but it too only gives me a blank screen. In spite of having a blank screen, the pictures I take with it show up in the file. It's a rather vexing matter, but not as serious as the above one.

May 6, 2010I'm running Amarok 1.4 on Linux Ubuntu 9.10, and out of the blue it tells me it cannot play .mp3 files. When it asks if I want .mp3 support, I click "Yes", then nothing happens. flac, .m4u, & other files play fine.

The problem is now whenever I play any video file in any video player the PC freezes locking up virtual terminals. However the sound of the video continues to play on until the video ends. I have to then cold reset from the switch on chassis. What can be the probable reason behind this?

I have mediatomb i turn my ps3 on search for server pick it up I can play all of my .avi files fine but when i go into audio > All audio it just says there are no titles so that the mp3 files show up and i can play them. And as well why does mediatomb not work when the terminal is not open. I open terminal type mediatomb then when i close it says disconnected from media server.

Fedora :: Playing (Canon Camcorder) MTS Video Files
Jul 28, 2010I just got a Canon Vixia HF 200 Camcorder. It stores data on an SD card. I was able without difficulty to copy the files to my Fedora 13 (64 bit) system. There are a bunch of .mts files in a Stream Folder, which I assume contain the videos I made. Some searching with google suggested mplayer might be able to play these videos. When I try that, I get an Mplayer 'boombox' icon playing the audio, but no video.
How to Get info about state of things at present with high definition video.and Linux? If necessary I can use the Windows software that came with the camera, but I would like to do as much as I can with Fedora. To start, I would like to play the videos and also to write them to a DVD which I can play on my DVD player, BlurRay if possible.

Sep 25, 2010but after a forum search I only found one similar thread, but seemingly the issue was not totally solved. I just would like to suggest a solution (well, most likely a workaround) for .rmvb Real Player movies which don't work well on Kaffeine, without need to install other players or applications.I first saw many people had similar problems as me: Real Player movies just played sound but not video, or viceversa. I first tried installing w32 codecs, but this seems to be the good solution for 32 bit users, I use 11.3 x64 and didn't work for me. Seems to be a Medibuntu repository, and I looked for a .tar file, since I was looking for a "w64" version of the codecs. I downloaded the latest .tar.gz file found on the page, the 20071007 one and uncompressed it. It has some codec files and a Readme which tells where to put the files. After that done, without rebooting Suse, I tried again to play the movie, and Kaffeine finally played it well, although now it pops a message saying Kaffeine closed unproperly whenever I close it after having played a .rmvb movie. I think that can be solved by updating Kaffeine, but haven't tried that yet

Jun 23, 2011My problem is that my computer plays MTS videos very bad (the videos get freeze, etc) in Ubuntu 11.04. I tested many players, but I didn't get good performance during the playback in any of them.
However, in the same computer, I use K-Lite Codec Pack in Windows XP and MTS videos are fine!
Is there any way to play MTS videos in Ubuntu very well?
Performance is excellent in both operating systems (XP and Ubuntu 11.04).

Software :: Cplay Not Viewing / Playing .flac Files?
Feb 12, 2011I just installed cplay on Slackware 13.1 but I ran into a problem and I am unable to figure it out on my own:
When browsing folders in cplay I went into a folder containing only .FLAC music files.. it was empty! I am unable to play any of these with cplay
If I cd into that folder through the terminal and play the file using ogg123 it works fine.. cplay is just a front-end to mpg123 and ogg123... I don't know why it isn't reading these files..
I dont know where to start... I was unable to find any documentation of config file for cplay (not even a slackbuild for it.. I installed it from source which I extracted from a Debian package)

It seems I can play at least an mpeg movie, and mp3. But I find the quality of sound of the mp3 in kaffeine very poor. Yes, it plays, but some mp3's are struggling the first 10 seconds or so,, eg, Shivers - Armin van Buuren. When I play the same mp3 in xmms, it plays like a charm. That's not what I want, I want an all-round multimedia player. Xine does the job very well,, like xmms,, and plays also the mpeg, but unfortunately, xine shows an error message about a segmentation fault, upon exiting xine. Any hint to play mp3 files in kaffeine like xmms does?

Dec 29, 2009I have just installed openSuse 11.2 (64bit), and I installed the avi codecs as described in Restricted Formats/11.2 - openSUSE-Community with the 1-click installation for KDE. But kaffeine and xine are crashing when I try to play avi files.One thing I found out is that all packages are 64 bit packages only the w32codec-all version is 20071007-0.pm.1.1-i586 and I don't get offered a _64 package. Is this OK? What else could be the problem
