I'm running KDE, with 11.2 32-Bit. At first, my screen saver worked just fine, coming on after 130 min, being just long enough to watch a movie. Since changing the screen saver, but not the duration before activation my screen saver comes on every 20 min. I have tried changing and saving settings in YaST and going back to the original choice of screensaver, neither of which have worked.

I'm running Fedora 14 and set the screensaver (in System>Preferences on the Gnome GUI) to activate after the computer is idle for 30 minutes. After the screensaver is activated, and a press a key or the mouse, the screen is back to normal -- no problem.After the screensaver has been activated once, however, it comes back on very quickly -- usually in 2 or 3 minutes if the computer is idle. The only way I have found to correct this (and set activation back at 30 minutes again) is to log out and back in again.How can I correct this, and automatically set screensaver activation back at 30 minutes each time the normal screen is reactivated?

When I open screensaver preferences, I can click on and see previews of all of the 2D screensavers, but the 3D screensavers just give me a black screen as a previews (even when I ask for a fullscreen preview). how-to fix this situation so that I can run 3D screensavers?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI run a molecular biology lab and we like to run the "Molecule" GL screensaver in order to look cool (I know it doesn't actually save screens, and it wastes energy, but you know..). I'm about to install Opensuse 11.3 on all 24 of our laptops and I find that the number of GL screensavers installed as standard is greatly reduced from previous Opensuse releases. Any idea where I can get the "Molecule" and other screensavers?
I am running KDE and have the following relevant packages installed:

xscreensaver-data
xscreensaver-data-extra
gnome-screensaver
gnome-screensaver-extra
This apparently gives me just 8 GL screensavers - there used to be a great many more?
I recently updated to OpenSUSE 11.3 with KDE 4.4.4 . I do not find the great series of screensavers which existed in previous versions. I look in sysemsettings, desktop, but there I find only two version of blank screen as screensaver and no way to install something else.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have built 11.2 on several laptops and knetwork manager startup for wireless is not consistent. I can't figure it out. Sometimes the options "Create Network Connection" and "enable wireless" are greyed out. Other times they are fine. What is the secret to getting the options to appear in my window tray all the time? I always select knetwork manager as the default when I do a clean build.

I searched in Yumex on "screensaver" and reinstalled all that were marked as installed, but no joy. Not only does the screensaver not come on (it is set to 30 minutes) but if I go into Preferences > Screensaver and click on one of the choices it does not display the selected screensaver in the preview window. That is, none of them display except Floating Feet and Floating Fedora Bubbles. What is going on is to discover where those two screensavers come from as opposed to the others. i.e., what packages are they from?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI don't know why but since I upgraded the KDE 4.4 desktop from openSUSE 11.3 to 4.5, the desktop just freezes some times.
If i was listening music, or watching a video I can still hear everything and even move the mouse, but nothing works.
So I switch to TTy1, perform a init 3, then init 5 to restart all the graphic system, and start again. This happens without message, without log, and without clue...
Should I downgrade to 4.4 or this has a Workaround?
I just install rss-glx, - the really slick screensavers package, but there are no new screensavers being listed in the GNOME preferences panel in F13. How do I get these nice screensavers into the screensaver preferences?

Just for giggles, I booted a Kubuntu 11.04 CD, updated the sources.list, installed rss-glx and was able to use the rss-glx and other opengl screensavers. The reason I say opengl is because those are the ones that I use but no screensavers work.

It goes straight to the "(initramfs)" prompt with the new card installed and, without the card installed it won't allow any drivers to be activated via Administration>Hardware drivers.

You see, I have only a few minutes left on this Library Computer, as it took me1/2 an hour to realize that this is the BEST!! site for me. Or so this is my present understanding eh. I have Bonobo-activation-Server in my precious, well it was a precious dual system that a complete Newbie like me with the only skills of one with a decade of Windows. Plus remember the Canadian issue eh. I need to somehow dissconnect bonobo from my Ubuntu system. Even using my 8.10 which I now have to use, in my CD DRive, they still are hooked up to me, using my memory, partitions, drives, stealing my root.

This laptop that I am trying to get Debian 5 working on is occasionally locking up during boot at "Activating Swap..." WTF could cause such a bizarre thing? The swap partition is just empty space. Activating must be nothing more than confirming it exists and mounting it.
