i know it should look like this : source=iwl3945,eth1,eth1 or source=madwifi_ag,wifi0,madwifi i`ve tried and changed for with my ath , wlan0 , but it still wont work, what i should type in those three lines after source= and what does it mean each .and if you could tell me how to determine what to type there or where does it say what to put there.

Do I need to install madwifi drivers, or are the drivers that come with Ubuntu sufficient enough? I've been reading other forums and on Google that I should put source=madwifi_g,ath0,madwifi but my device is not ath0, it's wlan0 as shown with the lspci command.

Ubuntu Networking :: Rt2860 Kismet Power Always Says 0 How To Load Module?
Jun 26, 2010I have a WS- something or other by gigabyte, it has the "ralink rt2860" chipset according to lspci.
It works well the only problem is in kismet or airodump-ng the power always shows as 0.
In the kismet.conf i had to set the source to rt2500, it does not seem to like rt2860 or rt2x00.
In airodump-ng it always says "chipset: ralink 2560pci" and "driver:rt2500"
Is there any way i can use the rt2x00 drivers, would they allow for more things ?
Whats funny is that network manager can see the signal strenght of all the sources.

Jan 13, 2010I have Ubuntu Hardy (8.04) on my desktop and want to put it on my laptop, currently my laptop has Fedora and win xp.
I was thinking not to go through a lengthy setup and just copy the ubuntu files from my desktop to my laptop (untar a backup made with a tiny core boot usb).
My guess is that I have to delete the xorg.conf and re setup my videocard. But is there any other hardware that ubuntu won't initialize on startup?

Dec 29, 2010I am dual booting with windows xp on a dell computer I recently acquired. I am running Ubuntu 10.10. The computer didn't have a wireless connection so I installed a wireless pci adapter from a company called ZONET. I installed it perfectly on windows xp, however, I cannot install the driver and the "Ralink Wireless LAN" on Ubuntu. I inserted the cd, and opened the setup.exe file with Wine Windows Program Loader (I have installed Wine 1.3 by following the instructions on http://www.winehq.org/download/deb and clicking on the link that says "click here".
I am currently temporarily connected to the internet by borrowing my main computers ethernet cable). I followed the instructions on the InstallShield Wizard only to have two windows pop up saying there is an error (see attached image).

The Ubuntu docs pointed me at a diff folder which also didn't contain xorg.conf. c is it located? I will just sym link it during install them remove the link once its done. EDIT: Should probably mention that I'm running ubuntu 10.10 (Which was upgraded from 10.04). And I'm running Desktop Edition

Jul 24, 2011Is it possible to add more than one graphic device driver to xorg.conf and it will load automatically? It is important to autodetect because I am using the configuraiton read only. This is because it's a custom LIVE CD.This is what I currently have, and it works!

Jun 13, 2010I have a ATI Radeon HD 4000 PCIe card in my Debian system. I got the proprietary ATI drivers working (fglrx) but a kernel upgrade killed that. I was unhappy with this driver due to the very high memory usage. The card works with the non-proprietary drivers but I can only clone my desktop. I want a single desktop on two monitors.
I booted with Ubuntu Lucid and my dual monitor desktop worked out of the box without the proprietary drivers so I thought that I could emulate what Ubuntu does in Debian. But I can't.
My issue is that I don't know whether I am missing a module in the kernel or I need to set up a brand new xorg.conf. Ubuntu doesn't have an xorg.conf to copy. My default Debian doesn't either.
I have messed around with my own xorg.conf and added various drivers eg "ati" and "radeon" but I can't get it to work with a single desktop dual monitor display.

There is no luci_admin and even if I manage to start luci service, I get a blank white screen when I try to open it from the browser. I've googled a bit and found that I'd might be able to setup GFS if I manage to build cluster.conf manually and start the cluster suite, but I cannot find documentation on how to create cluster.conf anywhere. If anyone knows how to setup GFS2 without a cluster suite or how to configure cluster.conf.

Feb 6, 2011I have been playing with the aircrack-ng tools, and also Kismet to see how my networks appear. Kismet creates a monitor interface wlan0mon which it uses for scanning. With airmon-ng I can create and remove monitor interfaces, but I am unable to remove wlan0mon created by kismet. wlan0mon remains regardless of if I forcefully kill the Kismet process or exit cleanly.
airmon-ng stop wlan0mon
results in a message that monitor mode is disabled for wlan0mon, but I can find no way to remove it.Can anyone tell me why this is? I am much more interested in learning why I can't remove this interface, although a solution would also be nifty. using grimwepa with the verbose switch, but from what I could tell grimwepa never calls to use kismet.

Which seems fair enough, as you can use Kismet, however on my machine when I end kismet and the server, the monitor interface is not removed and I cannot remove it manually, which screws with aircrack.
SO, is kismet needed to view encryption types of networks, and if so how do you use it peacefully in unison with aircrack?

Feb 4, 2010Im trying to setup multiple domU through the default bridge setup. I am able to access only one of them through the network at a time. If you ping one of the domU it works perfectly but you cannot ping any of the others until you stop pinging the one and even then it takes a bit before you can. Ive looked around for a while and seen similar problems but nothing ever seems quite the same. Im probably missing something really stupid. Or is this the way the bridge is supposed to behave? Do i need to use a routed virtual network?

Jun 21, 2010It has been haunting me for weeks and I haven't been able to fix it so far: When I installed the wireless driver 43XX series on my laptop using a wired internet, I saw the wireless network for a while and after I rebooted my system, My kernel(31) got corrupted and I got error "kernel Panic (and some sync error)",Thus I started using an older kernel(14),Now When I install wireless driver or mobile broadband driver(wvdial), they get vanished after the reboot and my mobile device modem isn't detected.But they are installed in my system(as shown by synaptic package manager but doesn't seemt to work) I desperately want to use mobile broadband.
